all tests performed in NTSC with the Sandisk 32GB SDHC Class 10 U1 45Mbps card.

transcode the original mts files to Apple ProRes 422 full range using the 5DtoRGB free software before editing to avoid the diagonal pattern rain problem. Try the ProRes HQ, normal and LT versions to perceive the best balance between quality/file size.

Well, after quite some time of thinking "I should get a GH2" I finally have (and not one that shoots IR..like my other/previous post).

You know, I kind of feel like the proverbial pig in sh*t.... many of you have owned the GH2..there was the hack..then some patches...then more...and then others like the Quantum..Intravenus...Moon...etc.

I come late to the sweet shop .... but.. soooo many 'sweets' to enjoy!

Please, help me fix my bricked GF2!

As I know, it is impossible to restore the device without disassembling the memory chips. I need your advices.

Which is the chip?
How to extract the part of the firmware, which is necessary for programming the chip by the programmer device?

Hello, do you think it would be possible to hack a GH-x firmware so that all the data the camera save on the SD card will be somehow encrypted? Since I don't know how deep the panasonic firmware could be customized, before start digging, it would be good to receive a feedback.

Hi. Will the hacking team (from this forum) be able to create something so the GH2 can do focus peaking ? I think that it'll be a great asser to add, even thought GH2 is no longer developped by Panasonic. Althought, it's successor, the G6, does have it.

Are any of the forum's hack makers interested enough to develope this ?

GH2 problem while recording

Hi. I've bought a used GH2 recently for a 3 camera shooting project. At first, there wasn't any trouble. But I found out that the the camera couldn't record videos longer than 90 mins ar HBR mode, 1980i, 24p. After asking around, I've downloaded and installed a hacked firmware from this page and changing some values of the :

Which solved the recording issue, but other issues appeared as well.

1- I can't record a video at "Manual" mode (in the "Creative Movie" menu) higher than 720p. At 1980i, when I check the video (after recording, it says "Read Error. Please Check the card". I've been using a Lexar 64gb SDXD Class 10 90mb/s without trouble for a year now. I tryed a Sandisc Extreme pro 32 gb 95 mb/s, same problem. I tried factory reset the cam and even reinstall the original Panasoic firmware, no luck. I tryed the same cards on my G6 with the same recording properties, no problem.

*****UPDATE: Problem solved. the reinstallation of the original firmware with the protool re-work (no hack) did the trick. The seller should have told me that the camera was hacked, it would have be less painful.

Hi. I recently bought my GH2 and decided to hack it with the flow motion v2 hack. But since I am new to this camera, I don´t know where to look to see the changes the hack has made in the system. I searched the entire site, but nobody explains how to operate the new features after the hack, they just explain them, but not how to find them in the camera menus. I have tested two different gh2 cams and three different san disk extreme pro 95mb 64 gig class 10 cards. I film in 720p sh mode. when it works it works great and spans etc but I have yet to get through any card on either cam without a cam shutoff or write error. I read through the faqs and it says to film in H mode. Whats the point in this. I can use a lower bitrate hack instead. I love the look of flowmotion but I don't see why this is happening. Any insight would be great. All my testing was done in mundane scenarios not taxing or high iso or anything so I feel I cant rely on it in sh mode.

I am using cake 2.3 with 64 gig 900 speed class 10 cards. everything is working fine. Im getting 2 hours of recording time with this patch on this 64 gig card. Does this seem right? Lastly using vegas ford editing how can I see what bit rates clips are recording at. is there software I need other than vegas 12 to see this? 2 hours record time is fine but this is a pretty mello patch seems like Id get alittle more than two hours. Thanks for any insight.

I am shooting with a gh2 in 720p. I edit using sony vegas 11 in a progressive timeline. I render from vegas to a 720 x480 mpeg checking progressive then I take this mpeg file into nero 11 to make dvds. Should I make the dvd progressive or interlaced nero has the option of both . Im just trying to figure out advantages and disadvantages of staying progressive all the way through or should I be using interlaced for standard def dvds?

Issues with external monitors & hacked GH2?

Recently bought two SmallHD monitors for use with my two GH2s. Having issues with when I first tested them I was using the Flowmotion v2 hack, and both monitors were responsive, then switched to Apocalypse Intravenus - one monitor worked, the other was unable to sync. The next day, neither monitor would sync with either camera. Today I switched to Apocalypse Boom - both monitors sync but notice every now and again the monitors flicker.

I doubt it's the HDMI cables as they're new, and I don't believe it's any particular monitor or camera that's causing the problem. So I can only assume it's the hack, maybe the high bit rate is too much for the monitor to handle? I'm using SmallHD DP4's.

I installed the sanity 4 patch on my gh2. I am reading that I can now avoid the 180 degree shutter rule. Im reading I can go down to a shutter of 50. This would only be applicable for static shots right? And not applicable for fast moving subjects or slo mo in post correct?

Is the GH2 hack really improving video quality in normal use (24P and LCD monitor)?

This is a bold question. Let me explain. 24P is normally shooted with 1/50s. Motion is then always blurred. LCD monitor blurs motion even more. On the other hand hack is mostly improving moving parts of video. Hack obviously decreases macro blocking and motion artefacts but one can not see the better motion clarity because of those limitations. So slightly better resolution and finer noise is about all benefits of hack unless one uses plasmatv or modern motion optimized LCD TV and then flickering is sometimes a problem. Frame interpolation helps but it introduces additional artefacts. With 24P hack I am not sure if there is no resolution benefits at static scenes anyway.

GH2 hack improves most the 60i video. Default 17Mbs 60i is full of artefacts and very heavy macroblocking. With a proper hack motion is a very smooth, sharp and artefact free. Horizontal resolution is the same as with 24P and vertical res is a bit worse. Final result is though almost all the time sharper if there is any movement in the scene. But again with normal LCD monitor we loose some of the motion benefits of 60i.

I just purchased a gh2 that is already hacked, with a cbrandy old hack (thats what the guy who sold the camera told me) I want to rehack it with a sanity 5.1 The instructions that I've seen out there iclude loading the original firmware in ptools, but as my camera is already hacked, I dont know if this is what I should do. Hi, I'm a photographer and just bought a GH2 to practice my video skills. I previously did a couple of jobs as a dop using a 5Diii, a black magic and a C300 and what I'm looking at to get from the GH2 is the maximum quality. I don't need to shoot lengthy segments but I need the best image (especially in dark environment). I know I probably will never get the quality of a ML 5Diii, C300 or BMCC but this is for practice and personal projects. Could anyone suggest a few hacks?

So having both the GX1 and a G6 i Just realised theres hack for the GX1 aswell

Being new to this Forum and only recently developing an interest for Film Making & Grading im getting myself very confused and was wondering if you Guys could help..

I have never hacked a Camera before and i am not to sure about the Process and how complex it is and was wondering if some one could give me a clear indication if hacking a Camera is quick or a painful process and will it make a huge difference to my picture.. so far i have been playing with magic bullet looks mojo on my G6 with a 19mm sigma lens and uploaded to after effects.. and my results are impressive but not as epic as these amazing videos of hacks i see all over youtube and vimeo..

I'm extremely blown away by all the Videos iam seeing of the hacked GH2's GF2's.. and i have to say it has more of an Epic cinematic Effect.. Im eager to try this on both my cameras but seeing as theres no G6 hack yet the Gx1 might be a good starting point for me to check out this hole hacking business..

Can any one point to me some instructions or find me a link to where i can download this hack for the GX1 and a simple step by step guide without to many complications.. I am really looking forward and excited to get started with Movie making especially now i am learning after effects.
