Remote Follow focus GH5

Currently I don't know of any way to smoothly control GH5 Panasonic lenses via remote manual focus.

Canon has the ability to control lens focus via USB port on camera, and you can buy on eBay devices that plug in and have rotary encoders for follow focus.

I believe that the 2nd firmware update will bring USB tethering to GH5, if so it would be amazing to have similar solution.

Let Panasonic know your thoughts here.

Also- if anyone knows of way to do wireless - or wired follow focus on GH5 (without additional motors) please post.

Electric FF under $1k?

I'm looking for an electric FF that I can use with a thumbwheel on my gimbal and shoulder rig, wireless is great but wired is also fine. Would be nice if I had the option to add a wireless remote with wheel and hard stops at a later time.

There seem to be several on the horizon, like the Tilta Nucleus-M and Nucleus-N, Zhiyun's mechanical FF, and the Filmpower Nebula FF all sound great but when are any of them actually going to be available? I'm also looking at some of the Ikan and Redrock FF systems, but they're a little outside of my budget. Any others I should be aware of?

I watched the following clip from Zacuto's booth at NAB 2012 and was quite amazed at this simple, but effective FF design tht would help me with my daily shooting at work:

So I started screwing around with my old Ikan FF (which has a lot of backlash btw) and noticed that with a few modifications I might be able to build a wired handgrip FF myself for little money.

CAME TV wireless Follow focus

This is a quick what's in the box video of the CAME TV Wireless Follow Focus. It's a great little unit, compact, quiet and does what it's supposed to - adjust focus remotely. I'm finding more uses than I originally thought and I can see it replacing my mechanical follow focus on most occasions.

I intend to make a series of these showing the unit in action and running a couple of tests regarding battery life, repeatability etc.

I have a short film coming up the the next couple of months where the final scene involves a slow track in on a woman on a bench, it's midnight, there's fireworks and she's crying - easy! The FF becomes a necessity here but after playing around with it, there are so many other situations where I can make use of it.

Interviews - the FF can be used to adjust focus during in an interview situation if you haven't got a camera operator to do the job.

Jib - If I plan a jib shot I set the foreground out of focus but with the FF I can adjust focus throughout the move.

I use a shoulder rig on occasion so I might try to set the transmitter up on one of the arms and see what happens.

If there's anything anyone want's to know or a test they're interested in seeing done - let me know.

Hi guys. After using my hacked GH2 for 3 years I just got my GH4, and I'm already in love with it. It happens sometimes that is use the camera on a glidecam or a gimbal and I would like to have to ability to pull focus without touching the rig. Nothing super-precise, I rent a wireless follow focus when I need it, but when I shoot alone a remote focus cable would do the trick. I tried the wi-fi app, but having an assistant with an iPad is not an option :) I can't fin any information on the web about a panasonic/lanc cable capable of pulling focus over lumix. Do you know if there is any? Thank you!

I recently purchased a new (Gini) follow focus and am looking for recommendations on good gears to go with it. Are zip gears worse than standard gears? Anyone used these:
