Lumix GH6 firmware upgrade

Having issues getting the camera to recognize that the firmware is on the SD Card. I have done this MANY times back in the hack days. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, maybe this is off topic but I need to know things. The issue is that I got hold of old Panasonic FZ300 and wanted to removed the time recording limitation on the camera. Tried several YT tutorials with no result at all. Then I stumbled into PTool3 the firmware manipulation tool and followed the instructions using the FZ300V22.bin firmware file, but the tool doesn't accept it. is PTool camera restricted? Or is it me being stupid? If so is there another tool that can fix this?

GH1 .MTS file corruption - anything to do ?

Hello everyone,

A long time user of these pages, I have been a member of this forum for nearly 4 years.

I really enjoyed applying the camera hack for the GH1, which I use on an almost daily basis.

I actually hardly ever had any problem, which is why I have made myself rare...

What brings me to write today is the fact that I have these film clips that I was trying to edit into a single video : all of them taken with one hacked GH1, all .MTS (AVCHD "FHD"); one clip is 1h17m1s (time displayed in camera), and was divided into two files: 00005.MTS, size 4GB, 43m59s, and 00006.MTS, size 3.1GB, 33m1s (these two times are displayed in VLC); the second clip is 30m49s (00007.MTS, size 2.9GB).

The problem is that file 00006.MTS displays a greened image right at its beginning (or sometimes a horizontal stripes pattern in millimeter spacing) for about half a second.

And the worse problem is that, trying to work on the files with Kdenlive, I realized that file 00006.MTS just wasn't seen, the sections I used showed no video on display on the project monitor (even already on the timeline), and gave just white clips even before rendering (and after rendering as well). Trying to trim the first few images off the clip didn't work out, even converting the whole file to another format like .MP4 (with VLC) made no difference either. On the contrary the other two files 00005.MTS and 00007.MTS were fine.

I thought of file corruption, looked here (https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3679/mts-file-corruption-help/p1) and there (http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6019/rewrap-an-avchd-file-from-quicktime-.mov-to-.mts-premiere-issues/p1?Sort=date) but wasn't sure if it was the same problem as mine. Similarly I am not sure whether the problem and the solution here (https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/621/removing-the-corrupted-start-up-gh2-avchd-frames./p1) is the right one for me...

So if you have any information for me, whether it is a known problem, what might be the reason and the solution, I would be extremely grateful...

How to hack Lumix Gh2 with ver. 1.2 (body) installed

I've been stuck on this problem, i want to hack my gh2 with something like Moon T7, but after using ptools, formating card etc, the responce is "No valid picture to play". I think the problem is about the camera beeing on ver. 1.2, is there any way to downgrade to 1.1 again or a hack for 1.2? Im really dont know what to do at this point, please help.

Force lens firmware update or increment version

I want to play around with the firmware of some Panasonic lenses. I understand the risks and that this will very likely brick my lens.

How can I force my Panasonic camera body/lens to proceed with the update. The lens firmware I'm modding has the same version as the version already flashed to the lens so the camera just skips the update. I tried to find any reference in the lens firmware with regards to the version number but have been unsuccessful.

Any tips would be much appreciated!

Всем привет, перепрошил panasonic GH2 с настройками 88мбит/сек. Средний битрейт стал примерно 90мбит/сек. Анализ видео показал что кадры в видео не все опорные. 1пакет на 2 кадра. Как показывают практика при сжатии кодеком h264 в один проход хватит 50мбит/сек. Кто подскажет настройки что бы кадры были все опорные .

I'm new to GH cameras. I bought a GH2 to play around with video. I hacked it with Flowmotion. I was surprised to see the video was cropped far more than photos. Can someone explain why the considerable difference in cropping? Or, did I mess up hacking it?

Moon T7 Hacked GH2 - Worked? Missing something?

Hello. Finally I hacked my GH2 with moon T7 and hacking went fine. I filmed 2 similar videos with a same setting: unhacked and hacked to compare. Checking 2 files using StreamParser, everything seems correct (hacked video have larger size and more average bitrate). Now, I import them to FCP7 with these settings : Source:"P2 ACC-Intra"-> Target: "native", Source:"AVCHD"-> Target: "Apple ProRes 422 HQ", which creates .mov files. When I compare these 2 mov files, they are almost the same file size... Is this fine? Or am I missing something? (I can't really tell the quality difference between these 2 videos...) Thanks for the help.

Hi all, help me to hack GF1 to film in 19201080. Following instruction, already made 20 versions of hack .bin files. Camera succesfully upgrading , but i still cant film in FHD ((( it still 1280720. Tried LPowell settings, changed bitrates to higher, lower etc. tried to do as many people did in Youtube an here. bit iy stilll the same 1280*720 (((( and still HD ((( maybe somebody can share his working .bin file?

Hi, new poster here.

Hoping someone could help me narrow down my choices among the plethora of patches on here.

I mainly need a patch that would help me best with event capturing/running and gunning. (i.e. weddings, commercial events, concerts, etc.)

I'm looking for:

Clean skin tone
Low-light performance
Reasonably sized files
Fluid motion
A decent 720p setting (for 60p slow-mo)
Stability

The lens I'll be using most of the time will be the Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95.

Also, just to put it out there. I am also interested in a patch that would work great for footage with a lot of action for a music video project.

GH2 Video Interlacing - I want to love this camera please what am I doing wrong?

Cut to the chase - using a hack or not my video has horrid absolutely unusable Interlacing. It's happened on stock and with the cluster v6 hack.

What am I doing wrong? I have a custom color setting with sharpness cranked to max,can this do it?

It's so so pronounced.not just a little. Large ugly vertical bars with motion every time.

A friend sent me a GH2. I create video blogs and plan to invest in a GH5s in the future but he sent it because I currently use a GoPro and his (correct) assertion that I need to learn with a real camera, coupled with the amazing video possible on a GH2 should help out my efforts.

Now the camera is like... Amazing. Panasonic obviously planned minimalist changed and built it to last, but this Interlacing is making nothing I do usable.

Sitting on a chair, filming as a talking head is as bad as filming real footage walking with motion etc.

I hope someone can help here, it's certainly a pain. Loading video into davinci resolve and seeing it cannot be used.

While we're at it I really want to use mjpeg with flow motion but the 2k stops recording.

I've tried using a card rated at 100mbps is that too low for what I am using?

I had the camera complain when using flow motion that the card wasn't fast enough which I understand as I needed a special card for my GoPro... Seems okay with cluster though.

EDIT - It was actually Davinci resolve causing this. Premiere pro handles the file well, and I solved the problem. Just wanted to update it.

Custom GF2 Firmware Manipulation

I just got a used GF2 for some DIY projects and want try my luck in firmware manipulation. I want to start with some simple string changes or hiding GUI elements. Is this somehow possible with ptool and if not where whould I learn how to do this? The "Developer stuff" in the faq looks like a good start but I can't access any links in that section.

GH2 moon T7 problems with photos

The firmware moon T7, the video recording quality is excellent, everything is clear, sharp, the lenses are clean, without dust and scratches. But the photos turn out bad, I didn’t try to adjust the photo settings, it wasn’t detailed and not clear, the jpeg codec was pinched, raw is not very good either. I tried to install the official firmware and reset to factory settings - it did not help. Does moon T7 firmware affect the quality of the photo, Flow Motion v2 also tried, the same everywhere, Help with the settings, or on the GH2 all just shoot video? https://yadi.sk/d/b6O3QXzwNgU1-A

Hi, I'm quite a rookie in the world of video. I have a second-hand GH1 with the 14-45 MEGA OIS lens. My intention is to use the camera to record travel videos, in fact I am already using it, but I would like to know which configuration is the most appropriate to then upload the videos to YouTube and what hacks you recommend. I have no interest in timelapse or slow motion. I give more importance to the images being clear with beautiful colors and without unwanted movements. I have some manual lenses, such as Pentacon 50 1.8, Pentancon 29 2.8, HELIOS 44-2 58 f / 2. My specific questions are what hack to use and what camera settings. So I'm selling my G6 Lumix to fund a side step. Considering the NX300M for its higher quality sensor and more budget friendly len's prices. I need to know if the dev mode unlocks the 30 minute time constraint whilst allowing file spanning? So i could record an hour without any frame drop or lose? I note that Vitaliy and others have in the past recommended the following memory cards, especially for higher bitrate hacks:

SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC 95 MB/s, 32 GB

SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC 95 MB/s, 64 GB

But today much faster cards with much larger memory are available. Are there any advantages/ disadvantages to using these newer cards in the GH2?

Hello. I have a hacked gh2 with quantum v9b hack + sandisk extreme pro 64 gb 95 mb/s. everything was runnig prety cool in the first month.but after that all my recording stops at 01:09 most of the time!! I have tried all the things to fix it " formating with sd formater quick and slow format. I have change the firmware to 1.0 also the same thing . I have bought a usb cable and try to format with but the same thing.a friend of mine have told me maybe because i was using a cheap sd adaptor .or because i have used the sd card in another camera (5d mark 3 ) I dont know any help ? I have recently dug my venerable GH2 out of a closet and have been searching the brilliant personal-views for advice, recommendations on hacks, patches. I am interested in three hacks which seem to offer excellent quality with good stability and was hoping for further advice:

Sanity X,
Flowmotion 2.02,
Cake 2.2

Could anyone offer advice as to the main differences between these hacks, and the advantages and disadvantages to using each of them etc? (There is advice scattered across numerous forums but it's not easy to sift through it all.)

I am also interested in using the Pasadena audio patch and was wondering again what advantages, disadvantages there might be to using it with each of the video hacks above.

Also, if anyone has recommendations as to reliable alternatives to the hacks above especially for documentary work....

I loaded Flowmotion v2.02 hack on my panasonic gh2, and from where I downloaded it, was written "Access to both PAL 25/50p and NTSC 30/60p frame rates." But in my camera I can only shoot in 24,25 and 50p. How do I shoot in 60p?

Learning Filming

I've just starting to learn filming and I have picked up a few bits and pieces for my set up.

5D Mark II with Magic Lantern, Ninja 2, Boya BY-WM8 wireless lavs. I'm using Prem Pro CS6 to edit. I plan to shoot small pieces for actor show reels and possibly business interviews.

My question is, what codec should I use to get the very best quality, please?
