New Sony 400-800mm G Lens Gets $700 Price Increase as Tariffs Start to Hit Industry

In news that we all knew was coming, but have been hesitant to report until we see exact numbers start to change, tariffs appear to be hitting the greater film and video industry. Again, we haven’t heard many direct and official statements on price increases from brands and manufacturers just yet, but make no mistake, there has been a dark cloud forming over the industry since tariffs were announced by the Trump administration in the United States during dates that overlapped with the NAB Show in Las Vegas the other week.Now, from the looks of prices changed online, it appears that the new Sony FE 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS lens, the company’s furthest reaching lens to date and an exciting new film and video product has been directly or indirectly hit with a $700 price increase possibly due to these tariffs.Sony FE 400-800mm Lens Price IncreaseAs pointed out by Sony Alpha Rumors, it appears that the Sony FE 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS lens, which was announced just last month to feature a retail price of $2,898, has seen its price increase to $3,599. Its price, it’s worth mentioning, on B&H remains the same but is listed as temporarily out of stock. Again, we have no official statement on this price increase from Sony just yet.
