First of all: of all the Mic2 vs Røde Wireless Pro comparisons the Mic2 sound noticeable worse, dull as well as other issues. But the features man...

Some mics seems to be duller sounding and more "muffled" in quality than other copies.

Anyway DJI now claims that there is a firmware bug in the Mic2 which causes the bad sound quality. Or at least some of them.

Clear difference in frequency response for different copies of the Mic2 transmitters built in microphones. If used with external mics no problems.

Boya BY-TM7 Digital Dual Transmitter Wireless Mic System http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/20158/boya-by-tm7-digital-dual-transmitter-wireless-mic-system Mon, 30 Jul 2018 23:03:38 +0000 halfmac 20158@/talks/discussions How would like a digital dual transmitter wireless mic system for two people that is reliable and easy to use? With the Boya BY-TM7 all you do is put in the AA batteries, put the mic on you talent, turn on the transmitter and receiver and it does the rest. No setting frequencies, adjusting mic levels and no pairing. Now you are ready to do a two person interview.

image

I used this system for a lecture that was given in my area for sound support. I put the transmitter on the lecturer and the introducer and the receiver on the speaker system. I had the system on for over 2 hours with no drop outs and very clear sound. The lecturer was able to mute himself until the time he was ready to lecture and the introducer muted themselves after the introduction.

This new digital dual transmitter wireless mic system from Boya is well built with rugged aluminum construction. The system used dual channels that automatically scans channels to pair the transmitter to the receiver when turned on. It uses the transmission method of TDMA. What we get is very clear voice with a high signal to noise ratio.

image

The use these units, take them out of the nice case that is provided. Put 2 AA batteries in each transmitter. Open the transmitter by using two fingers to push locking release on the battery compartment and it slides open and comes out. The symbols for the direction of the batteries. Close it back up by sliding it back in and clicking. The transmitter is small and weighs 159 grams with batteries. (111 grams without)

Clip the lavaliere mic on your talent and plug it in to the locking connector on the transmitter by turning the ring on the 3.5mm mic cable, clockwise to lock. Do the same for the second transmitter. The mics have small windscreens provided for out door use.

Put two batteries into the receiver which has a cold shoe for mounting on a camera. It has a 1/2 inch hole for mounting on a tripod. To do this, push the back of the receiver up at the arrow and the cover slides open. The AA batteries are the installed in the direction indicated on the battery compartment. Slide the cover back on until it stops and clicks. It weighs 128 grams with batteries. (80 grams without)

The next thing you need to do to be ready to use these units is plug in the proper cable to the receiver. The system comes with two cables, on with a male XLR plug and one with a 3.5 plug on it. On the other end that connects to the receiver is a Mini TA3F XLR connector. Plug the right cable in and the other end into the mixer, PA system, camera or recorder.

Because of the automatic pairing all you do is turn it on. The units tell you that the system is paired with blue lights on the units and on the easy to read LCD display on the transmitters. The transmitters have a big Red Power button on the left side of the unit. Push it in and the transmitter powers on. The LCD lights up and the pairing light turns red. The LCD indicates the battery level and signal strength. It show Tx when not paired. Do the same for the other transmitter.

image

Turn on the Power switch on the right side of the receiver by pushing it up and the power indicator light turns red. When the unit automatically pair the power turns off and the blue pair light comes on the receiver and the transmitters.

Now you are ready to go. The two transmitters are on the same channel so two people can talk and it will be heard on the audio channel you plug into. The only way not to hear one of the people is to mute that transmitter by pushing the /Pair/Mute switch on it or turn it off.

image

After the lecture all I had to do is hold for two seconds the Red Power button on the transmitter to power them off. To power off the receiver, slide the power switch down.

If the units don’t pair there is a Pair button on each of the units all you do is push them to repair them.

This Boya BY-TM7 is very easy to use and provides good, clear, reliable sound without much fuss.

Ultra affordable wireless options? Boya BY-WM6 vs Saramonic UwMic10 vs Azden PRO-XD? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14943/ultra-affordable-wireless-options-boya-by-wm6-vs-saramonic-uwmic10-vs-azden-pro-xd Tue, 12 Apr 2016 09:31:50 +0000 IronFilm 14943@/talks/discussions Currently have a RodeLink which I'm happy with, and brought it as I felt it is the "cheapest" wireless I could go with. But there are times when more than one (or two, or three...) wireless are needed. And I'm wondering if there are even more affordable options, which are still usable.

Been looking around for the last few weeks at the various wireless options which are priced significantly below the RodeLink, there are a surprisingly large number of them!! :-o

Unfortunately many of these ones are no good, but on the upside it appears wireless has taken great strides forward (all 5 of these wireless sets mentioned are only roughly a year old or less on the market), and I've narrowed it down to four which are cheaper than the RodeLink yet look appealing from what I can gather (here they are listed from cheapest to priciest):

Boya BY-WM6 vs Azden PRO-XD vs Saramonic UwMic10 vs Audio-Technica ATW-1701L

Boya BY-WM6

Is the cheapest of the four by far at only US$140 with free shipping. It uses the 584 MHz-608 MHz frequency range. Includes an XLR output cable. Runs on two AA batteries with a claimed run time of 8hrs. Comes with a portable case for the set. RX has a headphone jack.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Boya-BY-WM6-Lavalier-Wireless-Microphone-System-For-ENG-EFP-Canon-Sony-DSLR-/282001404702

Azden PRO-XD

Second cheapest of the three at US$199 with free shipping. Uses 2.4GHz wireless. Uses an internal battery (can't swap it out.... hmmm... a downside! But on the upside, it is the slimmest of the four, which is a bonus for a wireless system). Battery life is meant to be an impressive 16hrs (with a 3hr recharge time). Has a headphone jack on the RX. Internal batteries are rechargeable over USB (can see this being useful for bag use, to keep all the RX units charged up from a USB power pack. However careful battery management during the shoot will be needed with the TX units)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Azden-PRO-XD-2-4-GHz-Digital-Wireless-Lavalier-System-/171940834701 http://www.4kshooters.net/2015/11/11/azden-pro-xd-new-budget-digital-wireless-microphone-system/ http://cheesycam.com/azden-pro-xd-2-4-ghz-wireless-lavalier-microphone-system-just-199/ http://www.learnlightandsound.com/blog/2015/10/26/good-budget-wireless-lavalier-azden-pro-xd

Saramonic UwMic10

If you squint they look almost the same as the Sony UWP-D11 sets! (it even has an XLR TX option like Sony does with the Sony UWP-D16. Which I am really looking forward to using on the boom pole, to get rid of the cable)

But the Saramonic UwMic10 costs half the amount of a Sony UWP-D11. As it is US$270 plus taxes/shipping to NZ (which does then significantly increase its cost, unfortunately). http://www.saramonicusa.com/products/saramonic-uwmic10-digital-uhf-wireless-lavalier-microphone-system-with-bodypack-tx-and-portable-rx http://www.dslrfilmnoob.com/2016/02/28/saramonic-uwmic10-dual-body-pack-2-channel-receiver-now-out/ http://www.dslrfilmnoob.com/2016/02/15/saramonic-uwmic10-dual-channel-uhf-wireless-system-review/ https://lensvid.com/gear/saramonic-uwmic10-uhf-wireless-lav-review/

The Saramonic is I think the system I'd like to go for, but once the final cost is worked out it ends up pushing up uncomfortable close to the RodeLink to really truly be a "cheaper option than a RodeLink" by a significant margin. Plus it is such a new item to the market that none of Adorama/B&H/Amazon.com are selling it, maybe I should revisit this item in a couple of months time and see if this has changed.

Audio-Technica ATW-1701L

Cheapest price now is $330.79: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1060929-REG/audio_technica_atw_1701_l_system_10_digtal_wireless.html

But it was merely US$220 at Adorama only a month ago: http://dealnews.com/Audio-Technica-Camera-Mount-Microphone-System-for-220-free-shipping/1618268.html

I think that the current prices for the ATW-1701L are just a little too high right now, as it puts it too close in price to a RodeLink, so not much savings there. But if ever see it at that sale price then I'll buy one (two even!) in a heartbeat! http://soundandpicture.com/2014/12/audio-technica-system-10-camera-mount-wireless-review/

Well, I think this now is complete survey of the "good options" which are cheaper than a RodeLink. I've surely left out a few other possibly interesting options, and feel free to point out anything important I've left out, but what I'm left wondering now... is which of these four should I pull the trigger on and buy? Open to any thoughts on my options!

Wish I could get one of each and a SRc!

Ah well, maybe next year....

However, it is very weird that it has a max of 44.1KHz?? What on earth are they smoking....

Also is a damn pity there is no TC :-( Guess they're still keeping a reason for you to buy their PDR instead.

But having a split gain recording option is nice.

I tried to Add Device and connect from cameras via WiFi direct but after I select laptop in camera nothing happens

I have no any problem connecting camera in both ways using Android device.

And if you know how connect camera via WiFi direct in UWP C# it would be a miracle.

I'm selling an Apple wireless keyboard. This is the current model being sold by Apple (model number MC184LL/B). I bought this from the Apple Store a few months back, but after a few days I didn't like it versus the old keyboard, so it's been sitting in its box. This is basically a new in box unit, other than the fact that it was used for a few days, then put it back in the box. It's in perfect condition. Cost is $49 and that includes shipping in the US. (They sell for $69 at Apple Store.)

GH4 run 'n gun for 2 separate recorded audio channels: Beachtek MCC-2 adaptor / bracket http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11486/-gh4-run-n-gun-for-2-separate-recorded-audio-channels-beachtek-mcc-2-adaptor-bracket- Sat, 04 Oct 2014 08:50:38 +0000 tommy 11486@/talks/discussions I just got the GH4 and updated the firmware 2.0 (so I suppose the audio buzz is not there). I can add a Rode VideoMic Pro or a Sennheiser Wireless set, but not both at the same time. As I make professional (low budget) documentaries , 2 separate audio channels (1 mic, 1 wireless) is a must.

I'd like to record the audio on 2 separate (!) audio channels (Mic left, wireless right), directly in to the camera (GH4) If a audio backup is placed on a recorder that is even better.

For years I looked into stuff as the Zoom H6 / Tascam DR-100, etc. I like that the sound is recorded extra (as backup), but it is too much for a one mans show run 'n gun. I also don't want to sync in post. (as an editor will need to do that , and won't be happy with this) . I thought of the DR60, but it is big, complicated, bad batteries, etc. and I don't know if it can feed a stereo audio (separated) channel to the GH4?

So probably you'd suggest a Juiced Link / Beachtek preamp, because a pre amp is important, right?

But the GH4 pre amp (set to the lowest -12) is okay right? So I'd only need to get both channels in the camera. I found the Beachtek MCC-2, and didn't see anything here on the site.

What's your thought? Will this work for my purpose? Or is this not reconmended for a 'pro' . The money isn't the biggest issue, but the 'easy handy workflow' is.

My Pros: - no batteries, small, 3 hot shoes, (receiver, mic, light) - perhaps possible to put below the camera - cheap

Cons: - Would a pre amp be much better? - Mini jack vs (balanced?) XLR (would that be much better)

I also have a sennheiser shotgun with XLR, but it is quite big for the GH4. As the VMP already has 3.5 and sennheiser wireless also has that cable, that seems more logical (and smaller).

In-camera Wireless. Is it useful to you? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11551/in-camera-wireless.-is-it-useful-to-you Tue, 14 Oct 2014 08:56:19 +0000 mpgxsvcd 11551@/talks/discussions Most of the newest cameras have wireless built-in the camera with the exception being the Canon 7D MKII. Canon obviously believes this feature is not a requirement for high end enthusiast cameras.

So the question is “Is built-in wireless something you would use”? Have you used it before? Has it been beneficial to you or did it not meet your needs? Did you have trouble getting the wireless to work?

I think wireless is one of the least understood new features that the cameras have. Everyone thinks of it as just another way to post a “Selfy”. When it actually could be a very lucrative tool in a Professional Photography portfolio.

There are some circumstances where quality is not the absolute number one priority. News reporting is one of those situations. In that scenario time to post is the ultimate priority. Image quality is definitely a goal but getting the picture distributed in near real-time is essential.

Sports often require near-time distribution as well. Laptops and even tablets are not always practical solutions for editing and uploading in the field. That is where built-in wireless and in camera editing can be very beneficial.

The problem is that all of the in-camera wireless implementations I have used have been cumbersome. For example Panasonic’s Lumix Link App will only upload very low resolution (960x540) images to social media sites.

They have an app built directly in the camera for uploading as you shoot the images. However, that app cannot create a separate folder or album when it uploads. Therefore, it just dumps everything into a generic “Mobile Uploads” folder that becomes very cluttered and unmanageable.

In addition, their upload while you shoot function doesn’t work with the new images from video feature. It won’t trigger the upload automatically like it does with the regular Still images mode.

I wonder if these flaws in the implementations are preventing users from seeing the potential of wireless? Hopefully, the companies will start to fine tune the wireless capabilities so that this feature is adopted by more users.

What would it take for you to use in camera wireless?

I was kinda hoping that wireless flash meant that the DMW-360L would fire when I just press the shutter button on the GX7 with nothing else needed. However, I think, if I'm understanding it right, that the pop-up flash on the GX7 needs to flash in order to trigger the wireless flash. Is that correct? I'm sorta hoping that it isn't as I'd like to have just the DMW-360L fire wirelessly and nothing else at all. Does the flash on the GX7 have to flash too? Is that how all wireless flash units work, where one triggers the other, or is there one that fires remotely with just a shutter press. Thanks.

The plan is to build an Android App with other platforms to follow if there is sufficient interest.

So far AutoFocus, FocusNear, FocusFar, AutoIris, IrisOpen, IrisClose and Record Start/Stop are function over the wireless link.

Zoom is also planned, I just need a lens to test with. Anyone got a spare of the new Panasonic 14-42mm power zoom?

I can't see why it wont work with the other BMD cameras as well, I just don't have the means to test these yet.

Wireless mic and GH3 http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7382/wireless-mic-and-gh3 Fri, 28 Jun 2013 18:26:25 +0000 bonefish 7382@/talks/discussions My Sennheiser wireless handheld system was working perfectly with my GH3 until yesterday. The receiver was plugged straight into the camera and recorded perfect (mono) audio. I changed the mini-mini cord today and it still isn't working. It came on briefly last night but is back off now. Anyone have similar experience? The camera is about 2 months old and has given me no problems before now.

Wireless Follow Focus with Monitor from Wondlan http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7065/wireless-follow-focus-with-monitor-from-wondlan Sat, 25 May 2013 08:27:31 +0000 kicap 7065@/talks/discussions Hi guys,

I just got lucky and received this new Wireless FollowFocus Monitor system from Wondlan a few days ago. So far so good and the system is reliable enough for what it should be doing. I have not tried it with our BlackMagic Cinema Camera setup yet since the SDI-HDMI converter is still on its way.

More details as per video here:

Do let me know if you want me to discuss anything about its features as I might have missed some of it through the video.

Thanks

  • Works with any camera. with 3.5mm mic jack
  • 2-way communications between user and subject
  • Uses AAA batteries

If you like to use your own electret mikes (leaving receiver on belt) it requires some soldering.

Price from $141. Especially check Amazon used one.

eZShare

Looks like it represents small web server inside.

FluCard

Name make me more pessimistic about it. Seems similar to first one.

Eye-Fi

As I understand any X2 will do.

Buy an Eyefi card or wait to see if GH-3 has wifi? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4263/buy-an-eyefi-card-or-wait-to-see-if-gh-3-has-wifi Thu, 16 Aug 2012 00:30:21 +0000 disneytoy 4263@/talks/discussions Anyone use the Eyefi card mainly for stills? How well does it work? I've noticed I've been shooting a few pics and then needing to quickly get them into Lightroom to process. My computers card reader doesn't like the large Sandisk SD cards, so I hook the GH-2 directly to USB to offload. I was thinking about getting a Eyefi card just for this purpose. I don't really know how well it works on transferring the the PC?

I'm also guessing wifi will be part of the GH-3. That may be a better implementation. So, does anyone have first hand experience with a GH-2 and eyefi?

Thanks

Max
