I read only positive reviews by users all around the world, but still no any test or video sample with GH2.

16 different lenses - same target. Which look do you prefer? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2129/16-different-lenses-same-target.-which-look-do-you-prefer Sat, 28 Jan 2012 09:56:25 +0000 oscillian 2129@/talks/discussions I didn't find a topic that suited my little test, so here we go: 16 lenses shooting the same backlit subject, moving the camera to different spot to match field of view, thereby creating different spacial compression. Camera set to aperture priority. All lenses were wide open, except for the Hexanon 40 at 1.8 and 2.8 (beautiful pancake lens). Check for bokeh, colour, flaring and sharpness (yes, the 12mm 1.6 is in focus). I was surprised the Canon nFD 35 2.0 flared so much compared to the 50s. Anyone has had the same behaviour?

28-200mm F3.5-5.3 Vivitar Macro Focusing Issue http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4939/-28-200mm-f3.5-5.3-vivitar-macro-focusing-issue Fri, 19 Oct 2012 17:01:39 +0000 daisuke 4939@/talks/discussions @sammy @LaserGuidedTaco

A few of us have purchased this lens from the 'hidden gems among lenses' thread recommendation. I read the reviews of having focusing problems. It seems that the macro function is stuck on. I just received mine today, and my lens cannot focus as well. Any insight on this subject or lens would be helpful. It is the canon fd mount version.

  1. I am using a fotga adapter, and I've also tried the fotodiox adapter for fd mounts.

  2. To use the macro function you must slide it to 200mm and turn to the left. There doesn't seem to be any locking or engaging. You must then turn it all the way to the right to slide back to anything under 200mm. When back to anything lower, it will still focus but everything is blurry.

I can take pictures if anyone needs more information. Looking to solve this issue so we can all use the lens. Thanks!

Moon T7 keeps crashing http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11687/moon-t7-keeps-crashing Fri, 31 Oct 2014 15:55:50 +0000 Seethlaw 11687@/talks/discussions So I installed MoonT7 on my gh2 and began filming with my Voigtlander 25mm F.95 and it crashed within the first two minutes (I was filming inside). I took out the batteries, tried it again but this time with a static shot and filmed the couch. It was working solid for 8 minutes before I decided to test it and walked in, sat on the couch then returned to the camera to find that it froze again.

I switched lenses to my Vivitar 55mm f2.8 Macro and repeated the test, it froze again after about a minute.

The shots weren't very detail heavy either, just an empty wall, couch and ma doggy.

I was using a Sandisk Extreme Pro 32gb/95mbs, which I purchased yesterday. Is it the wrong card for the job?

Does anyone have any advice or experience with this? Should I just reinstall the hack or try a different one?

Vivitar Variable ND Test http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6727/vivitar-variable-nd-test Wed, 17 Apr 2013 15:10:14 +0000 DailyFilmFix 6727@/talks/discussions Here's a test I did today with the Vivitar NDX variable filter. I have been in post on my latest doc, "Three Days at Foster," and I've been working overtime on color correction. I used this particular filter on my Zuiko 45mm because the filter was for 37mm thread. I knew there were concerns about color cast and loss of sharpness, but a lot of what I shot was lovely anyway. The rest, I'm fixing.

So, for this test, which is probably not well done, I set up my GH1 with the reliability hack and set it to smooth with everything -2. I manually white balanced on the white door with each test after I set exposure. I pulled focus using a loupe.

To my eye, the one with the filter on it and the extra LED light does look, perhaps, a little less sharp. When I sharpened, it became a little more clear that there may be a slight loss of sharpness. But you guys look at it and tell me if my eyes need to be reset.

I ran three cameras on my doc (two GH1s and an HMC150) and was able to find an angle every time that worked. But I did not properly pay attention to color on some shots and tried to dial it in. After this test, I'm going to manually do it moving forward. Actually, I did manually balance with my video camera (the HMC150) on each interview, which did make a difference.

My main question is: now that Light Craft has a 37mm variable ND available at Adorama, based on this test, how much better would it be?

Finally, I realize that the casting and focus issues would become more pronounced as I cranked the ND down (darker), however, mine was set in the middle of the scale on the side of the filter, which I thought would be good for this test.

Wide Converter 0.45x....what about it? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5175/wide-converter-0.45x....what-about-it Mon, 12 Nov 2012 10:55:20 +0000 AlbertZ 5175@/talks/discussions What about cheap vivitar wide converter (mainly x0.45)? I've seen that they are very cheap, you can get it for 40$...I have in mind to attach one of this converter to my canon fd 28 f 2.8 in order to achieve a 25-mm-like FoV for my video (I use gh1 and gf1)...what about its performance (vivitar or other cheap wide converter in general)? A friend of mine has told me that 28 2.8 fd + vivitar wide converter 0.45x is pretty similar to the panny 14mm as lumonosity (but it's really less sharp)

Vivitar vs Canon FD lenses http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4968/vivitar-vs-canon-fd-lenses Tue, 23 Oct 2012 07:57:35 +0000 phazedreality818 4968@/talks/discussions hello all. i am very new to photography and videography. i have purchased a gh2 about 2 months ago and love it. my dad had some old school canon fd lenses laying around from when he was in the military in the early 80s. i bought the ciecio7 adapter and it works wonderfully. i love how the images are detailed, yet soft, and how the bokeh is incredibly nice.

i have a 50mm f1.8 and a 135mm 3.5

i am looking to buy a wider angle lens but i am caught between canon lenses and vivitar lenses for the fd mount. i am looking to get a fast (f2.0 or lower) 24 or 28mm lens, and the vivitar ones are much much much more affordable than their canon counterpart.

my question is this. how much of a difference is there between the canon fd and vivitar fd lenses? is the difference in price worth it to go for the canon? how does the vivitar lens hold up on its own?
