Are there any options/alternatives to the motoroid/timeroid for the varavon sliders (specifically v800)? Are there other brands/systems that work ?

I'm mainly wondering about the Konova Motorized Kit B that comes with the crank as well. It seems a better value and can be upgraded as I go.

I've also been entertaining DIY and have read numerous ideas, including this one - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=m5_ZQCQj7sg.

(He doesn't talk about how to attach it to the carriage at all, I'm thinking of buying the varavon weight pulley because it has a plate that fits)

Does anyone have examples of DIY for the varavon ?

Also - going the DIY route - is it a better design to have the have the motor on an end or with the carriage?

Is it possible to modify the firmware so it would fit the a77 requierments?

There are simple features like intervalometer, jpg engine(iso noise) and so on that could be used in old a77 to.

Thank for your work so far with Sony firmware repacker tool. I can also offer some help if needed since i studied IT science and have some programming skills.

Cranking frame rate on GH3 http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8846/cranking-frame-rate-on-gh3 Thu, 21 Nov 2013 13:33:55 +0000 gh2simon 8846@/talks/discussions So I finally broke down and got myself a GH3. Could almost not be happier with the ol' GH2, but the one thing I was missing was the higher frame rate for 1080p. Thing is, I bought the new camera in Sweden, and default settings do not include 60fps in either of the modes, only 50fps, I think. 50 is fine I guess, but it bugs me that I lack the slightly faster setting. Switching output from PAL to NTSC seemingly does not do the trick, and neither does updating firmware to the official "GH3__V12.exe" from Panasonic. Am I missing something or am I screwed? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Rings custom http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1371/rings-custom Sat, 05 Nov 2011 23:07:25 +0000 cordvision 1371@/talks/discussions Lens Upgrade
If you have ever shot with true cine lenses you know how useful it is to have a common front element diameter. I decided to get custom adapter rings made to upgrade still image lenses to a common front element diameter of 80mm. It's a must have item for everybody that shoots with still image lenses. Not only does it make your lenses look more professional, but most important it makes your life on set easier.
