1. Get the fastest sd-card wich present at this moment.

2. Make firmware.
In ptool enter this settigs
E1 Quality=200
E1 Table=4
E2 Quality=200
E2 Table=4
E3 Quality=200
E3 Table=4
E4 Quality=200
E4 Table=4

3. Shoot
Of course choose on your camera 720p MJPEG mode.
Then try to shoot, if record time is > 15 sec, that mean it's ok (this is my guess), note what bitrate you have got
Shoot every time same scene!

After, enter this settings (Every Quality setting is higher by 100)
E1 Quality=300
E1 Table=4
E2 Quality=300
E2 Table=4
E3 Quality=300
E3 Table=4
E4 Quality=300
E4 Table=4
Try to shoot, if record time is > 15 sec, it's ok, note what bitrate you have got

Repeat this until the errors start to happen, after you should take last successful settings, and start new tests, but now you should test with litle steps, let plus every Quality settings in every step by 10, for exemple:
You have got successful settings
E1 Quality=600
E1 Table=4
E2 Quality=600
E2 Table=4
E3 Quality=600
E3 Table=4
E4 Quality=600
E4 Table=4
And you further actions:
E1 Quality=610
E1 Table=4
E2 Quality=610
E2 Table=4
E3 Quality=610
E3 Table=4
E4 Quality=610
E4 Table=4
Do it untill the errors start to happen

Shoot every time same scene!]]>
GH2 vs HVX200 DVCPro HD http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3155/gh2-vs-hvx200-dvcpro-hd- Wed, 09 May 2012 09:20:03 +0000 joeevento 3155@/talks/discussions Hi all, I did this test for a comparison of dynamic range and have a margin of error within which I can retrieve details of overexposed or underexposed between GH2 with Flowmotion and HVX200 DVCPRO HD with whom I worked very hard and know enough well its limitations. I state that the GH2 was in "Cinema", which by all and recognized as the worst way for the DR. In the color correction I simply lowered the overall brightness with "YUV Curve" and I am impressed by the ability to retrieve color and detail with the DVCPro HD (note scales) in contrast with the AVCHD GH2 Hack Flowmotion. My question is: if this situation improves with other hacks or quality of 4:2:2 is still unreachable for us?

Want to help test the GH2 in L.A. this Sunday April 15th, 2012? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2822/want-to-help-test-the-gh2-in-l.a.-this-sunday-april-15th-2012 Mon, 09 Apr 2012 23:59:42 +0000 thepalalias 2822@/talks/discussions This Sunday (2012-04-15 NOT Saturday 2012-04-14) we will be conducting the largest GH2 settings comparison to date, right here in the L.A. and Pasadena area. I figured I would start a thread here rather than cluttering other active threads with additional posts as the test developed.

So far, five people besides myself have either confirmed or said tentatively that they will be participating. This includes my favorite rental house/production company hybrid in the Pasadena area.

Even so - we can still use more people and more gear.

We need tripods, cameras, camera operators, lenses and (possibly most importantly) memory cards.

If we have enough duplicates, we will be able to test not only image quality but spanning and reliability when shooting the same subject with the same lens. Having more duplicates also means that we will be able to accurately shoot material that could not easily be compared by one camera alone. We may even be able to shoot both NTSC and PAL variations in one shoot if we have enough cards.

SO if you want to be a part of this AND help out your fellow forum buddies, please message me with a list of what you can contribute in terms of either time/skills or equipment. Thanks in advance!

GH2 - Difraction test for the M.ZD 45mm F/1.8 - 100% Crops. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2645/gh2-difraction-test-for-the-m.zd-45mm-f1.8-100-crops. Wed, 21 Mar 2012 15:02:19 +0000 duartix 2645@/talks/discussions When comparing neighboring apertures the effect it's not very apparent but usually comparing crops 2/3EV apart you will see a difference. Having said that, I can say I'm pretty confortable up to f/11-13 even though if you compare to f/9 you can spot a marginal difference. These are 100% crops. Had to shoot these at ISO640 because that was the needed amplification for F22@2fps. Shot on tripod with constant lighting. At very wide apertures (F/5.6 and faster) there is flickering from the lighting but it doesn't make a difference for this purpose.

BTW I also tested with a chart on the center and another on the corner but the diffraction settles in equally as expected, so I'm publishing this test where I zoomed in on the chart and it's easier to see the differences.

AG-AF100 vs. GH2 final round http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1100/ag-af100-vs.-gh2-final-round Mon, 03 Oct 2011 22:41:54 +0000 Brian202020 1100@/talks/discussions
I ask, is there any links you can post of people that already have done a test with these two camera's? I'd like to see what others have done before I do mine.

I want to test only image quality. That seems to be what people are always bickering about. We all know the benefits of SDI, price, ND, smaller size, and which camera has each benefit. It's the image in question.

All tests will be done with the same lenses. I think 5 different camera configurations are needed to do the test correctly. Here are the 5 I'm thinking.
1. AF100, 24p, with Abel's "RANGE" settings, AVCHD.
2. AF100, 24p, with Abel's "RANGE" settings, ProRes via external recorder.
3. GH2, 24p, best high latitude settings, stock.
4. GH2, 24p, best high latitude settings, highest quality yet reliable long GOP hack.
5. GH2, 24p, best high latitude settings, highest quality yet reliable I-frame only hack.

What are the preferred high latitude settings for the GH2? As for what hack settings to use, I'm open for suggestions as well. I'm leaning toward cbrandins 66mbps AQ2 and Driftwoods latest 176mbps version.]]>

Fast, faster... Mpeg Test Shots ;-) http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/377/fast-faster...-mpeg-test-shots- Wed, 13 Jul 2011 03:58:14 +0000 cinegraphy 377@/talks/discussions So here's my fastest clip so far:

Quicktime states 180 Mbit, whereas Gspot says 210.735 Kbit - which would be 205 Mbit...
Was recorded with a Sandisc extreme (without "pro", 30 MB/s, Class10) with the following settings:
Quality 600, 450, 230, 200 / Table: 4, 4, 4, 4 - I'll try some new settings today & keep you posted]]>
