Still Master Vodka - Take A Moment http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8449/still-master-vodka-take-a-moment Wed, 16 Oct 2013 17:13:42 +0000 pchristoph 8449@/talks/discussions
This was a fun commercial I shot at the end of August for a new product line of Canadian Vodka from Shelter Point Distillery. The clients have great personalities and it is rewarding to build relationships with people who trust my work and ideas. I think together we are developing a good brand that represents who they are. That sandbar is over 600ft from shore. It was a chore to get all our gear there at low tide. At high tide, we used row boats to cart everything back though. Coordinating the time of day for the shoot with the tides in and out for shots was tricky. It made me glad I am a sailor and knew how to read tide and current tables during preproduction! The aerial shot at the end was captured using an octocopter by Duane over at AboveGroundLevel.ca All shots on GH2 (magenta filter in front of sensor) ISO 200, Super Takumar lenses (28mm, 35mm, 50mm macro, 135mm), smooth all -2, Driftwood's Moon Trial 7, Speedbooster, colored and edited in FCPX.

GH2 - Keep Calm & Pumpkin On http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8376/gh2-keep-calm-pumpkin-on- Tue, 08 Oct 2013 16:32:46 +0000 pchristoph 8376@/talks/discussions
This was a fun two hour shoot with two GH2's. Shot using Super Takumar lenses 20mm, 35mm, 50mm macro, 135mm, and the SLR Magic 12mm. I was able to scout the location the day before and had lots of ideas for the promo. It is often a challenge working with kids, but I quite enjoy it when things go right..ha ha. Even though I'm starting to butt up against the GH2's camera limitations I love it...and I've still gotta wait quite awhile before I get Amira : ) -Shot using Flowmotion 2.02, smooth, all -2, no filters, monopod, glidecam 4000.

GH2 - {From Field To Flask} - canadian single malt distillery http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6278/gh2-from-field-to-flask-canadian-single-malt-distillery Wed, 27 Feb 2013 19:00:15 +0000 pchristoph 6278@/talks/discussions

Hey there everyone. Just wanted to share the latest thing I've completed for a really cool whisky distillery here on Vancouver Island. Some of these shots were quite exciting to plan and execute.

I continue to be grateful to this community and the things I've learned here over the years. These small cameras are great tools that set us loose to create meaningful work. Thanks @Vitaliy - for setting this forum up and putting the whole thing in motion with unlocking the power and potential of GH1 & GH2.

A+A's Wedding Highlights | GH Cameras http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5564/a-as-wedding-highlights-gh-cameras Sun, 23 Dec 2012 12:31:27 +0000 pchristoph 5564@/talks/discussions
Weddings are challenging. The GH cameras are my field weapons of choice. Speedy setups, quality of image, and peoples ability to relax around the gear we shoot on. For this shoot I used 3 GH2's and the camera that started it all for me - the Gh1. I employed mostly Takumar glass, with the wide angle stuff shot on the 12mm SLR Magic. I really likethe asthetic of the 12mm magic, but she's a contrasty girl compared to the Takumar glass. With a little help in post - everything cut together nicely though. These are great tools. Once you learn their strengths and weaknesses - then the best part of knowing your gear is being able to forget about it, and instead keep your attention on finding the story taking place around you.

Monopods, Glidecam HD4000, PBPocket Dolly, and manfrotto sticks. LPowell's Flowmotion 2.02and 75mbit reliability settings were used in the cameras respectively. Post done in FPX. Continued thanks to Vitally for unlocking these cameras potential, and the pioneers who test and produce the settings we need for our work. And to Driftwood and LPowell to whom I've used the most settings. Merry Christmas to everyone here at personal-view.com. May there be peace on earth, and good will toward men. A Prewedding Film | A Pretty Cool Way To Keep A Memory http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5155/a-prewedding-film-a-pretty-cool-way-to-keep-a-memory Fri, 09 Nov 2012 23:26:19 +0000 pchristoph 5155@/talks/discussions
We make the occasional pre-wedding film for engaged couples who want to share a bit more of their story and personalities with their wedding guests. Usually a film like this will get played at the wedding of a reception on a big screen before the happy couple is announced and they walk into the room. When we screened the film with them they got really excited and wanted to post in online right away. So here it is. It was shot primarily with Pentax takumar glass and the 12mm from slr magic. While I like the 12mm wide angle it is a harder lens to cut in because it is higher contrast...I still like the less sharp/cinematic feel better than the Oly 12mm though. Glidecam shots on a 50mm macro tak. Some good fun and shot in about 4 hours over four locations on a cold clear October day. The gh2 cameras are brilliant for activating ones creativity in real time. I could never have been able to setup so quickly for shots, nor risk the variety of camera angles on the shotlist from rolling from a larger camera system over such a short period of time. I just gotta learn to color grade better. Anyways, cheers and good hunting all you creatives.

what are your favorite old lenses? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4904/what-are-your-favorite-old-lenses Tue, 16 Oct 2012 05:28:52 +0000 woodybrando 4904@/talks/discussions Hey, I've had the Pentax Takumar 50mm f1.4 for over a year now and it's just starting to sink in how much I like that lens. Plus it's only about $100 on ebay. Got me thinking what other cheap old classic lenses are out there. Let me know if there's any forgotten old lenses that you still love to use despite manual focus and no i.s.

Apocalypse Now 444 - 60s Commercial Promo | Comox Captivates http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4510/apocalypse-now-444-60s-commercial-promo-comox-captivates Sat, 08 Sep 2012 13:19:19 +0000 pchristoph 4510@/talks/discussions
Hey guys! I was fortunate enough to be an early tester of Driftwoods Apocalypse Now using the beta version (C1) of cbrandons 444 matrix. (thanks Driftwood!) I was starting production on a 60sec promo in July and being a risk taker decided to deploy it into real work in the field. This promo is a small representation of the capabilities Apocalypse Now settings can give us. I used all vintage glass (takumar) and the 12mm hyper prime by Slr magic, Kessler pocket dolly, glidecam, and also shots on sticks. Put through the paces in static and motion shots, and pushed hard in CC in post. I had no need for spanning, making this a real winner for my style of commercial work. Music recorded using Logic 9. FCPX for post work. We have a great tool in the Gh2. It's seriously 'the little engine that could' Its own limitations are something to overcome with creativity. This is my second year making films and I want to encourage you all in this...that the limits of any camera cannot stop someone from creating great work. So load up, and head out! Cheers. Comments welcome.
