in case you ever wondered, how good a GH5 is as a stills camera, here a flickr album with pictures from South-Africa. Mostly taken with the Panleica 12-60 and the 10-400

GH2 Stills Problem http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15933/gh2-stills-problem Mon, 24 Oct 2016 13:00:10 +0000 jondshank 15933@/talks/discussions Recently I started taking stills with my gh2 in addition to using it for it's AMAZING video.

When I manually focus, whether through the LCD or LVF just before the image is in focus to my eye it looks soft and dreamy more so than out of focus, and beyond the subject it will start to actually look out of focus.

I took some when it actually looked IN FOCUS and I feel like it just doesn't look as sharp as my old Canon 60D (By quite a bit to be honest)

I'll post a picture so you can see. I shot this in manual, f/2.8 at 70mm on a tripod with around 160 shutter speed and 200ISO. I'll post a before and after grade.

Do you think this is an operator, lens, or camera problem?

Also please do critique my grade, I'm relatively new to all this.

Using cine lenses for stills photography http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4543/using-cine-lenses-for-stills-photography Tue, 11 Sep 2012 16:42:05 +0000 mlysbakken 4543@/talks/discussions Hi! I'm wondering how well it would work to use a cine lens for stills photography, in relation to comfort. Would it for instance be uncomfortable to turn the focus wheel manually?

I'm going to buy the Samyang 35mm and use it for both stills and video (with follow focus), so I'm unsure about which version I should choose.

Features for stills http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2741/features-for-stills Sun, 01 Apr 2012 01:54:46 +0000 MartinOcando 2741@/talks/discussions First of all, I'm new at this forums, and congratulations to Vitaliy on his new endeavor. Great for him, great for Panasonic and ultimately great for us.

I have a question. Are there any plans to enhance stills functionality, like intervalometer, focus trap, exposure trap, etc. A-la Magic Lantern for Canon, but for our Lumix cameras?

Thanks

Which lens for both video/stills? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1871/which-lens-for-both-videostills- Fri, 30 Dec 2011 15:32:51 +0000 Diffusion33 1871@/talks/discussions
I'm just about to purchase a GH2 and i've been considering a few lenses.

First is the summilux 25mm f1.4 which from what i have read is an outstanding lens for stills but no IS... From what i've read in various posts it also suffers from 'breathing' issues. I have read that this can be fixes buy un-selcting CAF! Is this really the case? Any good examples?

I've also looked at the Oly 45mm f1.8 but no IS and i want to start with a fairly versatile lens video/photo. I will defo purchase this lens in the coming months for portrait exhibition coming in june!

Next is the panny 14 to 140mm which seems to be offering best of both world ie: video/photo but at the cost of SDOF

I'm looking only at m4/3 lenses with AF so no need to mention the wonders of the Voigt f0.95 as i'm well aware of its capabilities and will be one i will get in time! I first need to settle in, in the new format!

My maximum budget is around £1150 for camera + lens

I look forward to hearing our ideas/thoughts]]>
