So, if you are less than stoked after being upgraded to the new Quik app this week just to find that the remote settings for "Pro Tune" is nowhere to be found in the app the reason is that GoPro is in litigation with a company which holds two old Contour patens:

"the court agreed with Contour’s claim that GoPro’s remote app infringes on the technology patents and has done so since 2014."

"In December (2020), a jury is scheduled to hear evidence and will decide whether GoPro has willfully infringed on the patents and how much in damages must be paid. So far, liability has not been established; however, if it is, GoPro will be required license the rights from Contour since Contour has valid patents on the technology. Contour will also be allowed to share evidence of GoPro CEO Nick Woodman taking apart and copying Contour action cameras at the trial."

How many poles have this remote input? Hi all, I'm looking for a solution for a translator in another country to translate/subtitle interview footage remotely for a documenatary. be it directly onto the footage or via some kind of timestamp overlay or annotation. Does anyone know of an online program that may do this. Maybe something like a shared editing platform?

I'm making free, no ad, open source app for Windows 10 (desktop, mobile, xbox :) and hololens)

App fetures:

Fullscreen camera liveview. Tested with GH3 and GH4 but should work with any Lumix camers.
Photo capture and video recording start/stop.
Changing basic parameters like ISO, Aperture, and Shutter. Changes on camera get reflected to app, as current mode auto parameters.
Multiple cameras can be connected at once, for now need switching to see and control, but I plan split-screen and separate windows. You can connect cameras to common WiFi access point.

I wish to test it with Hololens. Should be cool watching liveview in any position.

Wireless Streaming GH4 to external monitor

I am looking for a live-viewing solution when filming on my GH4. I need to find a solution where the GH4 picture is transferred to any HDMI device such as a Aputure vs-2 or desktop monitor. I need clients to watch as well as mount my aputure vs-2 on the remote controller of the ronin-m.

DJI itself seems to have some general solution which I have not yet testet. Any user experience?

Are there any other wireless system solutions?

Anyone know if the wired Panasonic DMW-RSL1 or Vello RS-P1II Remotes will start/stop video recording function on the Panasonic GH4? I want to use it on a jib to trigger the video camera. Android app is not an option for me.

GH4 wake from sleep with remote

I need to be able to get a GH4 wake up from sleep mode and go into record from the mini jack remote socket. I've tried this with the sleep mode set to "on" and have found that I can't wake it up from sleep mode using the remote. I am told there maybe a hack available to circumvent this. I want the camera to go to sleep to save power but then quickly wake up and go into record. Do any of the firmware updates released by Panasonic modify this function? is there hack or another workaround? thanks

Hi Folks,

I knocked up a quick, rough and ready Proof of Concept demo video of my project "MagicWand" wireless remote for the BMPCC and it is now available on Vimeo:

The plan is to build an Android App with other platforms to follow if there is sufficient interest.

So far AutoFocus, FocusNear, FocusFar, AutoIris, IrisOpen, IrisClose and Record Start/Stop are function over the wireless link.

Zoom is also planned, I just need a lens to test with. Anyone got a spare of the new Panasonic 14-42mm power zoom?

I can't see why it wont work with the other BMD cameras as well, I just don't have the means to test these yet.

I´m looking for experiences of remote controlled PTZ cams. Personally, I have a very troubled relationship to a panasonic aw-he50 (can´t get rid of light hz interference) and I´m looking for potential replacements to this piece of ....

Sony EVI-H100s seems reasonable from the spec sheet but it seems impossible to find any footage from it.

I´m sure there are other options out there as well.

I've been hunting through the net and found a simple circuit that will act as a remote for the GH2. It effectively emulates a half press and a full press.

However I find that with this, the external microphone is not enabled. I've been wondering if this is something a firmware hack could address or do I have to modify the circuit further.

Listening to some test clips back it seems that the external microphone is contributing a little when the 'half press' button is operated, leading me to think that the mics are getting mixed through resistance.

A possible experiment is to change the resistance between pins 3 and 4 to work out at which point it decides that the external microphone should be used.

My application is a thumb operated remote on a 'FigRig' mounted GH2 with hopefully a Rode Video mic giving me more directional pickup.

DIY "remote" focus control (accurate, LEGO!)

Okay, so this is not a particularly clever invention, but it actually works and is quite useful, which makes it worth sharing. :)

Now, I've had an idea in my head for quite a while now; remotely controlling a DSLR's lens' focus ring using (I don't know the proper word) 'motor mirroring'. Basically using one motor as the "generator", and the other to control the focus. So it happens that I found my LEGO and made my idea! Really pleased with how it turned out, so I thought I'd make a video demonstrating it and to show it to everyone here, as I think it's of interest to the people who browse these forums.

It's pretty useful for me personally, because of my shooting style. If you have LEGO, try and build yourself one. Mine took an hour, but I'm sure if one was to invest more time a better device could be created!

Trying a cheap (china) remote and wondering if SeAQuake is able to use it? The remote doesn't work, is it perhaps broke or SeAQuake just not supporting it? The idea was to use the remote as start/stop with my thumb when handling the camera on a one hand steadycam rig to shoot video.
