Sony Electronics, a worldwide leader in digital imaging and the world’s largest image sensor manufacturer, has today introduced a new full-frame lens for their E-mount camera system, the Planar T* FE 50mm F1.4 ZA (model SEL50F14Z).

This 50mm prime lens features a large F1.4 maximum aperture that offers impressive contrast and outstanding resolution that are hallmarks of the ZEISS® brand. It produces these consistently strong qualities throughout the entirety of the frame – from center to corner – and at all aperture settings, even while shooting wide open at F1.4. The cutting edge optical structure includes high-precision AA (Advanced Aspherical) and ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements that reduce spherical and chromatic aberration, as well as a ZEISS® T* Coating that minimizes flare and ghosting creating the classic ZEISS® clarity. Additionally, its Planar design ensures minimal distortion.

The large F1.4 maximum aperture of the FE 50mm F1.4ZA lens provides a level of brightness and speed that are advantageous for dimly lit indoor shots, night scenes, and portraits, while its 11-bladed circular aperture allows for stunning “bokeh”, or background defocus, in images. The lens also features an aperture ring with an adjustable ON/OFF switch, an AF/MF focus mode switch, and a dust and moisture resistant design¹, further increasing its functionality.

The new lens is also equipped with a ring drive SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) system, which allows it to efficiently lock focus with speed, precision and in near silence, making it particularly useful for shooting movies.

Pricing and Availability – FE 50mm F1.4 ZA Lens

The new FE 50mm F1.4 ZA lens will ship this July for a retail price of $1,500 US and $1,950 CA. The new FE interchangeable lens will be sold at a variety of Sony authorized dealers throughout North America.

FUJINON XF 16mm F2.8 R WR Lens

Designed to deliver the high performance resolution from Fujifilm's X-TRANS CMOS sensors through its precise optical design, the XF16mmF2.8 R WR adopts an internal focusing system and stepping motor to provide extremely fast and near-quiet auto-focusing. Although light and compact, the design incorporates metal components on the exterior of the lens, while interior is sealed around the barrel in nine different locations to ensure durability and weather-resistance to the surrounding environment. The XF16mmF2.8 R WR joins the collection of affordable, compact, and lightweight lenses within the FUJINON XF Lens System, making it the perfect companion to the XF23mmF2 R WR, XF35mmF2 R WR, and XF50mmF2 R WR lenses.

  • High Resolution Performance: Edge-to-edge sharpness from the center to the corners of the frame is achieved by the precise arrangement of 10 lens elements in 8 groups. This lens also includes two aspherical elements, which assist in suppressing the image degrading effects of chromatic aberration and field curvature imperfection.
  • Compact, Lightweight and Stylish design: Weighing in at 5.47oz (155g) and measuring just 1.79in (45.4mm) in length, this lens offers up the renowned image quality and refined style associated with the FUJINON XF family of lenses. With its metal exterior, precise click stops, and smooth dampening, this lens offers incredible image quality in a durable, aesthetically pleasing appearance.
  • Fast and Quiet Autofocus: The inner focusing AF system uses a stepping motor to move focusing elements into place through precise electrical pulses in order to achieve fast and near-silent autofocus performance.
  • Weather and Dust Resistant Durability: The lens is designed to operate in temperatures as low as 14° Fahrenheit and is sealed at nine points around the barrel, making it both weather and dust resistant.

FUJINON XF16mmF2.8 R WR Optional Accessories:

  • 49mm Front lens cap (FLCP-49)
  • 49mm Protect filter (PRF-49)

Availability and Pricing

FS: Nikkor AI Prime Set + FF Gears $300 http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13663/fs-nikkor-ai-prime-set-ff-gears-300 Sun, 06 Sep 2015 10:12:27 +0000 InnerSpark 13663@/talks/discussions Hey guys, I'm using my Sigma Arts full time, and now that I've parted with my SLR Magic Anamorphot, I'm going to be parting with my backup set of Nikkor Primes, as I just use the Sigma Arts for everything now. This is an EXCELLENT starter set of primes for the necessary focal lengths.

I primarily kept these lenses around because they were the only 3 that worked very well with the BMCC + Speed Booster + Anamorphot combo. So if that 1.33x anamorphic combo is important to you, then these lenses are ideal for ANA shooting.

They are the 35mm f2 AI, 50mm f1.8 AI, and 85mm F2 AI, they are in excellent optical condition, with the 85mm having tiny tiny, hairline cleaning marks. Absolutely no fungus and haze, come with front/rear caps and the very excellent helicoptersean for the 35 and 50. I don't have one for the 85, but sean can hook you up no problem. The AI lenses have the same optics as AIS, which are excellent, but longer focus throw, and with the expanded diameters on the gears, the throw is very very long.

I would like to move them as a bundle, and will be dropping the price as a whole to move them. $300 for the whole set (The 85mm goes for $200 itself) plus the focus gears for free. Shipping is gonna be low or split depending on where you are in the world. Will ship worldwide.

Paypal please, so PM me or email me at innersparkfilms@gmail.com if you're interested or have any questions! Thanks guys!

Declicking Olympus OM Lens - how to remove ring? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13445/declicking-olympus-om-lens-how-to-remove-ring Thu, 23 Jul 2015 09:44:37 +0000 demonboy 13445@/talks/discussions Hi all,

My first post on this forum - recently it kept popping up whilst researching legacy lenses for m43 so I figured there may be a few experts in here who could help me out.

I'd like to declick my OM primes (28 and 50) and whilst the procedure looks straightforward enough I'm having a problem at the first hurdle: taking the ring off. I've tried using a mini flat-headed screwdriver and pushing into the engraved lettering; I've tried pushing down on alternate sides and then around the ring; I've even put on some rubber gloves to get some purchase, but it won't budge.

Does anyone have any other tips that may help?

FS: Panasonic Lumix GH1 in box with a ton of vintage prime lenses http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12422/fs-panasonic-lumix-gh1-in-box-with-a-ton-of-vintage-prime-lenses Sat, 21 Feb 2015 20:32:07 +0000 LiftCM 12422@/talks/discussions I am sadly selling my trusty GH1 with its lovely 1080/24p 75Mbps hack included with accessories in BOX. Ask me for video samples. I last used it on a two cam corporate video shoot for a major Pharma company and for a broadcast commercial. Its been the B-Cam companion to my GH2 for the last 8 months but I am wanting a second GH2.

I am throwing in an assortment of vintage lenses along with their m4/3 lens adapters! The highly sought after Minolta MD Rokkor-X 24mm f2.8 AND the Minolta MD Rokkor - X 45mm F2 Konica Hexanon AR 28mm f3.5 Brand New in Box New Old Stock never used Kalimar 28mm f2.8! Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f1.4 Konica Hexanon 57mm f1.8 (needs work) Konica Zoom Hexanon 65-135mm f4 (needs cleaning).

I also have a spare Chinar 28mm f2.8 I'll throw in as well if you need more than one 28mm or need an extra 28mm prime for a second camera. This is a ton of glass all in very good shape. Im only asking for $350 for all of the above and not really interested in selling just one lens for 50 bucks. I really need to clean out my camera bag and raise some cash to get another GH2. Anyone have a GH2 and willing to trade for all the above...that would be nice too!

Cheers, C

I've made the switch to modern glass that streamlines working with stills, and I don't use these as much anymore. Nothing optically wrong with any of them, just would prefer to see them get more use. I prefer to sell in bunches, rather than individually, and anyone needing a full range prime set/zoom or a backup set I'll offer a good discount as well. I've had these primes for quite some time now, and they have been picked because I felt they were the best performers compared to their siblings. Mostly used on the BMCC w/ Metabones adapter. ALL work with the SLR Magic Anamophot (except 80-200 zoom which I did not test) Did I mention they all have a lovely LONG focus throw. These are a great set.

Nikkor 28mm f2.8 AI-S - $150 (Exc condition, fung that has been UV treated on front element, outside of the image circle, does NOT affect IQ) Nikkor 35mm f2.0 AI - $170 (Exc condition, no dust/haze. Testing out the Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95 Lens and my new GH2 (No HACK) http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5546/testing-out-the-voigtlander-nokton-25mm-f0.95-lens-and-my-new-gh2-no-hack Fri, 21 Dec 2012 12:37:44 +0000 disease8 5546@/talks/discussions I had a play around with the GH2 in a Graveyard in South London. It was a very cold day and so quite hard to keep everything smooth. I was using a super cheap £30 tripod a Velbon C-400 which comes with a PH-24B fluid head. I also experimented with a technique where you slowly tip the tripod towards an object/subject whilst tipping the tripod head up to keep it level. It gives the impression that you are using a slider track.

Although I have worked with still photography and video operating I haven't had much experience with this more artistic film work so I would love some feedback. Most of the shots I was on a very wide aperture, around 0.95-1.4 and kept my ISO very low. I haven't really done any colour correction and I am not entirely happy with the edit. I did it more as a test and rushed the edit a little whilst at a friends house (so I couldn't concentrate 100%). One thing I have noticed is that there is a "judder" effect going on constantly throughout, like it is missing some frames. Not sure if this is because I am using a cracked version of premiere or its the way I exported it.

Anyway here it is (its kind of depressing).

Nikkor Prime Lenses Cine Gears & adapters for video GH2 Cannon BMC etc http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7603/nikkor-prime-lenses-cine-gears-adapters-for-video-gh2-cannon-bmc-etc Thu, 25 Jul 2013 14:15:41 +0000 Albi 7603@/talks/discussions I have been using these manual focus primes on a DSLR with very cinematic results. I have installed focus rings which makes them usable with a follow focus. They are made by cinematics. Selling as a set with a MFT adapter and EF adapter.

1x Nikkor 24mm AIS F2 s/n 202338 1x Nikkor 35mm F2.8 AI s/n 425490 1x Nikkor 50mm F1.8 AIS s/n 3201608

I have been keeping them in a hard peli case which is not included in sale unless someone really wants it I can work out its cost.

Price E800 OVNO including 3 cine gears, front and back caps, AI-MFT adapter (for GH2 AF100, BMC etc) and AI-EF adapter (for Cannon cameras or BMC)

I have worked out prices based on the cost of these lenses currently on ebay less shipping and taxes of course. There is also a small charge for the adapters and Cine Gears but again no shipping or waiting on delivery - the cine gears took nearly 3 weeks to get here!! I tghink the set is priced fairly and to sell.imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

For Sale: Canon FD Prime & Zoom Lens Package w/ ND Filter Set - Complete & Color Matched http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2148/for-sale-canon-fd-prime-zoom-lens-package-w-nd-filter-set-complete-color-matched Mon, 30 Jan 2012 19:26:12 +0000 cowpunk52 2148@/talks/discussions I'm selling a complete set of Canon FD Prime Lens + 1 constant aperture zoom with a screw-on ND filter set. I spent several months putting this lens set together, making sure all the samples matched as closely as possible with no visible color shift between them. This is a perfect budget manual focus lens package to go with a GH2, AF100, FS100 or NEX camera. The glass is pristine and they all function flawlessly. Each lens is also already geared with zip tie focus gears and are ready for follow-focus attachment and operation.

I just finished shooting a feature film with these lenses on a GH2 with the Quantum 9b settings created by @driftwood and the images came out f-ing amazing. This is a truly beautiful set of very high quality glass. However, I'm purchasing a C300 package now, and these will not be adaptable to that camera... so they must go, sadly. I hand-picked each of these lenses, and love them all. I'm 100% certain you will, too!

The lenses are as follows:

20mm f2.8 FDn

28mm f2 FDn

35mm f2 FDn

50mm f1.4 SSC

85mm f1.8 SSC

135mm f2 FDn

35-105mm f3.5 FDn

The ND filter set includes:

Tiffen 72mm ND 0.6

Tiffen 72mm ND 0.9

Tiffen 72mm ND 1.2

Tiffen 62mm ND 1.2

B+W 62mm ND 1.8

Step-Up Rings: 52-72, 55-72, 52-62, 55-62, 46-52

I'll sell the complete package for $1500, including shipping to CONUS. Payment is made by Paypal as a gift, or purchase payment with fees added. I would prefer not to separate, but if you want just one or two items, send me a PM with an offer.

I also have a Novoflex m4/3 to Canon FD adapter that I will add for an additional $100 if you want it.

Complete package will be shipped in a foam cut-out hard case. Two filter slings are included for the ND set.

Normal prime lens for m43 recommendations http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2285/normal-prime-lens-for-m43-recommendations Wed, 15 Feb 2012 04:53:01 +0000 ppcroft 2285@/talks/discussions Ok, I have GH1, Lumix 20mm pancake, Lumix 14-140 and now a 85mm 1.4 Samyang Nikon mount.

Without realizing it, my GH1 had become a video camera as I found myself taking less and less pictures with it. Much as I like the 20mm, I find that I tend to use it much less as I shoot people a lot and it is not the lens for portraits.

I just got the Samyang 85mm last week and suddenly I have re-discovered the joy of shooting the stills. The 85mm is quite a joy for both video and stills and the manual focus is not the trouble I had imagined it to be. So I am looking for add a normal lens (35mm equivalent) may be in the range 35-60mm, preferably in Nikon mount with manual focus and aperture rings. Of course, I don't mind using a m4/3 or a FD lens. I would like to try a macro lens as well, so don't mind if it is macro lens in 50-60mm range. This will be used mainly for portraits, product photography and video.

I have considered the following:

Samyang 35mm 1.4 Nikkor 50mm AIS 1.8 Vivitar 55mm macro FD 50mm 1.2 Lumix Leica Elmarit 45mm 2.8 macro'

Please advise your suggestions. Thank you...

PS: I hope I'm not breaking any rules!

How To Improve Image Quality From Soft Lenses http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1987/how-to-improve-image-quality-from-soft-lenses Wed, 11 Jan 2012 13:52:05 +0000 apefos 1987@/talks/discussions The challenge: to use the lenses wide open to get the most shallow dof in GH2. But this makes the image soft because almost all lenses are soft wide open. So what is the solution? Watch the video tutorial on vimeo
