I'm wondering, how did he get those sharp brightly lit eyes, while the rest of the face is smooth and no strong light is visible?

Have a look at the video, its not in every shot, but there are enough examples of what I mean - most of them are b/w.

  • Was this created on set/in camera?
  • How did he light the faces?
  • Any post production tricks?
  • How to do it today?
  • How to do it today without tracking every eye and using power windows?

(I wish I could smile like Norman Bates....that would help beeing a teacher ;-)

Fluorescent tubes as practicals? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12796/fluorescent-tubes-as-practicals Mon, 13 Apr 2015 12:49:19 +0000 Psyco 12796@/talks/discussions Hi, I want to use practicals in a class room. There are normal fluorescents tubes mounted to the ceiling, which can easily be replaced. But the room is also flooded with daylight through windows (which will be "dimmed" by using ND gels). I want a good colour match between the tube-light and the daylight from the windows.

Would this tubes do the trick:

Or do I have to use the more expensive ones:

I think 50Hz flickering is not much of a problem, as there is no fast motion in the scenes and I can adjust the shutter speed as needed (using a BMPCC at 24 fps).

Any input about using fluorescent tubes are welcome:-)

Practical Advice for Shooting an Interview http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4048/practical-advice-for-shooting-an-interview- Wed, 25 Jul 2012 23:46:09 +0000 MulletXtrm 4048@/talks/discussions Hello fellow GH2 enthusiasts. I was just offered a contract do film a 30 minute interview/round table discussion and was wondering if you any of you could provide some useful tips for getting the best result, mainly in regards to lenses, patches and proper white balancing. I was thinking of using a two cam set up, using a 20mm 1.7 for the bulk of the shooting and a nikon prime for close up cut aways. I was also thinking of relying on the stock firmware to avoid any possible hickups. Finally, I was going to purchase a gray card to make sure my white balance was as accurate as possible, like most of you, I've dealt with the GH2's white issues for far to long. Given that this is my first paid gig, any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
