Suggestions for a stationery camera at a music venue http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/24181/suggestions-for-a-stationery-camera-at-a-music-venue Sun, 02 Aug 2020 22:20:17 +0000 thiswayup 24181@/talks/discussions I've been asked to rig up a stationary camera for a venue as an output to some TV's via HDMI. On the odd occasion, they might record a few of the events (eg music etc) at 1080 (no 4k for now!) as they just want something they can edit quickly for social media. They saw my setup with a Panasonic GH5 and my 12-35mm f2.8 and wanted a similar quality (but cheaper).

I'm thinking I'll just set up a GH4 which is above the bar that they reconnect every time they have an event. Each event usually lasts about 8-9 hours. They want it to be as easy to plug and play as possible. Their budget is about $1250/£1,000.

I wondered if anyone has done something similar? Will there be any heat issues being kept on for 8 hours? Thankfully, they'll probably only record 2-3 hours of 1080 which shouldn't cause any space issues on the SD cards. Also since a GH4 has a micro HDMI connector, will there be any issues it failing after a while?

Any other suggestions welcome!

GH2 Flowmotion Hack HDMI Output for monitoring Camera changes from 720p to 1080i ? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8361/gh2-flowmotion-hack-hdmi-output-for-monitoring-camera-changes-from-720p-to-1080i- Mon, 07 Oct 2013 12:50:46 +0000 vantulpe 8361@/talks/discussions Hi To all, I use the great flowmotion hack with a Pana GH2 but there is a problem, I record from a Octocopter (aerial movies) in 720p and send monitor picture via hdmi output to a monitor down to earth but sometimes the camera record in 1080i and after changing battery right in 720 p how can I solve this bug i used latest version pttools and flowmotion ... I recorded in Manual Movie Mode 720p FH Quality and converted the HDMI Signal to analog SD and send it to an external Monitor the result was 1080i/30 footage on my sd card ... my battery was empty while recording after changing the battery the camera recorded in true 720p/60! Are there any new solutions for this problem? For the problem recording in 720p on SD card while monitoring via HDMI output using analog converter... to external monitor Would be the sanity hack better for 720p ? Any experience in the community?

Greetings from Vienna Lars

Does this problem still exist with the GH3 ?

Greetings from Austria Lars

No replies has nobody any idea?

Perhaps the solution?! I found in the menu of the gh2 the hdmi output setting auto, 1080i and 720p It was on auto..... could changing the mode to 720p solve the problem perhaps.... Answer from "onlocation" There is no way to use the GH2 at 720p while using HDMI monitor. The way we solve the issue is to get a small cheap camera and aim it at the view finder. You can focus the lens on the small camera and focus the view finder, plus use a sun shade (gaffers tape all around) and you can get an ok picture, but it's not great. The best solution is to buy the GH3, one week after we got our we sold our GH2. GH3 is simply another level, if you are doing this seriously then don't even think twice, sell your GH2 while it is still worth something and buy the 3. Good luck.

How can I get HDMI output with teleconverter? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4773/how-can-i-get-hdmi-output-with-teleconverter Sun, 30 Sep 2012 13:49:43 +0000 DNL 4773@/talks/discussions I have a GH2 with ver 1.1 firmware. I want to be able to turn the tele-converter on and get HDMI output. Is there a hack for this?

I am using 3 GH2s to feed live into a switcher and I need the HDMI output as a live video source. But I need to also invoke the teleconverter because the lenses I am using (very fast old TV camera lenses) are too wide. Also, there is some vignetting.
