Specs

Today, Nikon Inc. announced the fast, wide- angle NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S, the latest addition to the ever-expanding NIKKOR Z lineup of lenses. The 24mm f/1.8 S is optimized for capturing everything from cityscapes to environmental portraits and is built to take advantage of Nikon's large Z-mount, delivering the ultimate combination of fast, bright and sharp performance in nearly all lighting conditions.

"The NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S continues our commitment to offering exciting prime lenses to Nikon Z 7 and Z 6 users, while also providing exceptional level of quality achieved by the S-Line of NIKKOR Z lenses," said Jay Vannatter, Executive Vice President, Nikon Inc. "The combination of wide-angle perspective and a fast f/1.8 aperture is optimal for all types of photography including landscapes, making the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S a must-have lens to unleash the full potential of the Nikon Z series."

The NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S -- A Storyteller's Dream Lens:

The NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S joins the S-Line of high-performance NIKKOR Z lenses, giving creators an essential focal length to add to their kit of fast prime Z-mount lenses. The lens takes advantage of the most advanced NIKKOR technologies to deliver optical superiority, exceptional sharpness, beautiful bokeh and high-resolution across the entire frame, even at maximum aperture.

The new NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S was designed for photographers and videographers looking to capture gorgeous wide-angle landscapes or vivid street photography, a travel adventure or a stunning starscape. For videographers and content creators, this popular focal length is a staple for production due to its natural perspective. Thanks to the advantages of the lens' bright and fast f/1.8 maximum aperture along with the wider Z-mount, Nikon Z series users can capture exceptionally sharp images in dimly lit settings, with a lens that's ideal for nighttime shooting and astrophotography.

The NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S features 9 rounded aperture blades, allowing users to capture beautifully circular bokeh that adds a level of dimensionality to help capture compelling content. Users can confidently explore their creative potential in nearly any landscape thanks to the lens' reliable dust and drip resistant design, ideal for tough weather conditions. The lens construction also consists of four Aspherical Lens Elements and one Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass element to combat aberration, while Nikon's patented Nano Crystal Coat helps eliminate ghosting and flare. The 24mm f/1.8 S is further equipped with Nikon's Multi-Focusing System, which uses two AF drives in tandem to deliver superior resolving power and achieve fast and accurate autofocus, even at minimum focus distance.

In addition to achieving the top-notch image quality that storytellers and content creators have come to expect from the S-Line of NIKKOR Z lenses, the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S is also optimized for video capture. As a popular cinematic focal length, the 24mm f/1.8 S will be a welcome addition to Z series shooters' arsenals, boasting near-silent stepping motors for ultra-quiet performance, reduced focus breathing, a customizable control ring for smooth control of aperture and exposure compensation and the ability to take advantage of the in-camera 5-axis VR + eVR of the Nikon Z series cameras.

Levelling Video Head http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11136/levelling-video-head Wed, 27 Aug 2014 07:04:20 +0000 IS2 11136@/talks/discussions Hey everyone,

This is very much a noob post so I'd greatly appreciate any help!

Basically I've bought my first proper tripod (manfrotto 055xprob) and video head (Benro S8), but I think I've overlooked something pretty major.

I've got the flat mount tripod/head and so basically I'm just realising now that I can't quickly level the head, as I did with a setup I was previously using (which I think had a bowl mount).

Is there any way of quickly levelling my head with the flat mount stuff now I've bought it or have I shot myself in the foot?

If there isn't anything I can do to adapt the flat mount head to level quickly (I doubt there's an adapter or anything) then do you have any tips on how to level the whole setup in a shoot with more speed?

I feel very silly after doing so much research and overlooking such a simple thing.

E mount fast standard zoom options http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15778/e-mount-fast-standard-zoom-options Thu, 22 Sep 2016 06:30:02 +0000 joethepro 15778@/talks/discussions The list of fast standard zooms for E mount APS-C Sony is small, but I want to make sure I havent missed any (under $1000).

  • Sony 18-105 F/4 is a good contender, but its limitations are softness at the zoom extremes, and 18 is not very wide. It also has a very poor close focus distance.

  • Zeiss 16-70 F/4 is sharp, and this may be the best option. Unfortunately its max aperture is also F/4.

From my understanding, neither sigma, tamron, nor tokina make E mount fast standard zooms. Have I missed any obvious contenders?

Second Lens adapter on a speedbooster / focal reducer mount? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15681/second-lens-adapter-on-a-speedbooster-focal-reducer-mount Wed, 07 Sep 2016 16:02:36 +0000 VortekShow 15681@/talks/discussions Hey, quick question. Focal reducers convert a camera mount to modern mount, however I use only vintage lenses and I had the question wether you could adapt from the focal reducer mount to different lens mounts by adding an additional adapter. I don't think this would work but maybe somebody can explain it to me.

I wanted to know if anyone has experience with C Mount Lenses. I was looking at some different lenses and really don't understand the difference between the CCTV, 16mm, 2/3" C Mount Lenses and if they can work with the GH1.
I also noticed that they make mention of some Lenses being 1" or 1/2". What does this mean for use with a GH1?

Could a Lens like this be used? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/341297-REG/Pentax_C60812_C60812_8mm_to_48mm.html

Which CCTV lens for wide angle fisheye use ? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7609/which-cctv-lens-for-wide-angle-fisheye-use- Fri, 26 Jul 2013 05:31:26 +0000 TruHype 7609@/talks/discussions Hello everyone,

I've recently started to get interested in C mount (CCTV) lens, for they are fast, wide, and cheap. So I wondered, is there any CCTV lens that I could use as a Fisheye (and get the same effect as the Panasonic 8mm f3.5, but faster) ? Here's a few lens I've found looking on the internet :

  • Rainbow 3.5mm 1.6

  • Tamron 4-12mm 1.2

  • Pentax 6mm 1.2 (+ wide conversion lens x0.45)

Wanted effect :

The GH2 exact m4/3 sensor crop is x1.86.

So I would like to get the same widness as the Panasonic 8mm or any 8mm Fisheye (Samyang, Peleng, Rokinon...) :

Panasonic 8mm : 8 x 1.86 = 14.88mm equivalent (no need for ETC mode)

Rainbow 3.5mm : 3.5 x 1.86 = 6.51 -> 6.51 x 2 = 13mm equivalent

Pentax 6mm : 6 x 1.86 = 11.16 -> 11.6 x 2 = 23.2mm equivalent -> 23.2 x 0.45 = 10.44mm equivalent

x 1.86 : GH2 Sensor Crop

x 2 : ETC tele conversion mode crop (to cover vignetting)

x 0.45 : Wide convversion lens

Does that mean we could use any CCTV c mount lens instead of the Panasonic lens to get the wide fisheye effect ?

A few videos :

Lenses :

C mount lens (1/2") work well on the GH2, but I heard that the CS mount lens (1/3") would still have really heavy vignetting because even with the ETC mode it would not cover entirely the GH2 sensor. Is that true ?

Interesting CS mount lens, but 1/3 inch : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/TAMRON-Manual-Iris-CCTV-Lens-3-0-8mm-1-1-0-ASPHERICAL-C-Mount-3-Mega-Pixel-/261248954560?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item3cd3a6b0c0

I would use the fisheye to film Skateboarding.

Thank you.

FS: Leica R lens set Cine-modded EF mounts http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13015/fs-leica-r-lens-set-cine-modded-ef-mounts Wed, 20 May 2015 16:18:33 +0000 josh_chiara 13015@/talks/discussions Leica r lens set from 21mm to 90mm

All the glass is in great condition (I have included pictures of the front and rear elements of every lens) and scratch free. There is some small dust particles on the glass, but they are all external. No internal particles of note.

All lenses are in good to great condition. The only lens that has any issues at all is the 21mm f4. The issue is very minor. The front of the lens where the filter thread is has a small amount of movement front to back. It doesn't effect anything performance wise or visually with the lens. Just want to be thorough in my descriptions.

All lenses have focus gears installed with 82mm diameters.

The 35-70mm has two gears installed. One for zoom and one for focus. The focus gear is huge to accommodate the telescoping of the lens as it zooms in and out. The gear will catch a follow focus gear through the entire range of focus and zoom.

The 28mm doesn't have the gear or the front lens sticker yet, but the gear is on its way, and it will be installed as soon as it arrives. It will be the same as the rest of the set. I will re-upload the pics of the 28mm lens as soon as the gear gets here.

Leica R 21mm f4 ser no. 2614663 Leica R 28mm f2.8 ser no. 3039902 Leica R 35-70mm f3.5 ser no. 3285508 Leica R 50mm f2 ser no. 2923077 Leica R 90mm f2.8 ser no. 2537961

$3000.00 for the set. I can throw in my Storm case for the lenses for another $100.

PM me if you are interested. Payment through Paypal is preferred so we are both protected by Paypal's policies.

  • The Rokinon 7.5mm f3.5 for Micro 4/3

Or

  • The Rokinon 8mm f2.8 for Sony E-mount (NEX-7, NEX-5, NEX-3...) + Adapter

The thing is I know the Rokinon for M4/3 is going to fit directly on my camera (tried it in a shop), but the Rokinon for Sony is much faster, but maybe a little less wide...

Can you please help me choose ?

GH2 Accessories – Cage, Matte Box, Rails, Monitor http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7547/gh2-accessories-cage-matte-box-rails-monitor Wed, 17 Jul 2013 19:41:30 +0000 kingmixer 7547@/talks/discussions Well, I've held off on this as long as I can. Non-paying clients have forced my hand – so I have to part with some beloved gear that I put a lot of time, research and money into acquiring together. This is a nice "full package" of GH2 shooting accessories. It includes:

• Anodized Cage with handles, rails, allen wrenches, and threaded holes, even has lips to secure camera and allows battery change without removing camera.

• Matte Box (vertically adjustable) with flags and different sized rings,

• Rails (vertically adjustable on tripod mount), both top and bottom rails

• Monitor with three batteries, hood, charger, short HDMI cable, and AC plug. Not a high-end monitor, but works well, reliable, and is great for focusing.

• Follow-focus, including two different mount heights, I can forewarn that this does have some play, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's an easy fix.

• Threaded arms and shoes mounts – work for mounting any items on cage or camera.

All is in good cosmetic and working condition (and in a nice Pelican Case), except the minor play on the follow focus which was mentioned. If possible, I'd like to sell the kit or as much together as I can. Check out pictures and make me reasonable offer if interested please.

*note this does not include the camera bodies themselves.

Shock mount for external audio recorder http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4655/shock-mount-for-external-audio-recorder Fri, 21 Sep 2012 05:42:06 +0000 mrbill 4655@/talks/discussions I have a zoom H1. Has anybody seen a shock mount for this recorder (or similar) - along the same lines as the rubber band suspension mounts you can get for mounting a shotgun mic? Thanks.
