It will display a preview of your input Video with every LUT applied so you can select your favorite one with ease. It features a live preview of the video.

Trial version is limited to 3 LUTs. Pro version is not limited.

Suggestions for features are appreciated. Also: what forums and other places would be good to make people aware of this tool?

Happy LUTing ;)

Black and White export http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/20022/black-and-white-export Sat, 07 Jul 2018 15:23:09 +0000 DrDave 20022@/talks/discussions I've always wanted to do a Black and White export.
I just used the B&W filter in premiere, then adjusted the grey point and dynamic range.
Is there a way to get that silver, organic look?

GH5 False Color LUT http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16899/gh5-false-color-lut Wed, 10 May 2017 10:17:42 +0000 alcomposer 16899@/talks/discussions I found this false color LUT online: https://luts.iwltbap.com/false-color-lut/

To get your head around exposing for VLog_L this document was a life saver for me:

http://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/dvx4k/pdf/ag-dvx200_tech_brief_vol6_en.pdf

That document mentions the DVX200 but as that also uses VLog-L I see no reason to not use it. Also the DVX200 has the similar limited dynamic range of the GH5 (not being a Varimac LT etc).

Summery from document:

VLOG-L gives the widest dynamic range and the most post-production exibility from a DVX200. If your project can afford the time to conduct the proper post-processing required, VLOG-L gives you the broadest canvas on which to paint your images. Exposing properly for VLOG-L is the key to getting the best results; aim to expose an 18% gray card at about 42 IRE, keep your Caucasian skin highlights to below 55 IRE, and set your Zebra 2 to 75 IRE to keep from clipping highlights.

Take home notes

  • Caucasian skin set Zebras to 55 IRE
  • Set top end Zebras to 75 IRE
  • Set 18% grey card to 42 IRE (not usable in GH5 as we can't set Zebras that low in VLog-L)

Here is an image of my Keyboard with FC in VLog-L & Zebras as 55IRE:

One really cool thing about custom LUTs on the GH5 is that once you install them they are saved onto the camera. So you can have a spare small SD card with as many LUTs as you want- then install them as you see fit. The camera will remember the last installed LUT's. Currently there is space for 4 custom LUT's on the GH5.

EDIT: Just noticed my shutter is 240 degrees, I assure everyone that I normally use a 180, this was simply a pick up and play moment. Also normally my battery is fully charged. :-)

BMCC / BMPCC BozBMDFilm to Rec709 LUT http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16392/bmcc-bmpcc-bozbmdfilm-to-rec709-lut Wed, 01 Feb 2017 06:01:05 +0000 Bozzie 16392@/talks/discussions [Original RAW video by John Brawley DP]

Not to be confused with a ‘Stylized Look LUT’ – I created the BozBMDFilm_to_Rec709 Utility LUT out of a need to make my own color grading life easier when dealing with the Blackmagic BMCC / BMPCC Cinema Camera Film LOG and RAW files. And now I'm making it available to you.

Download Page: https://bulentozdemirfilms.wordpress.com/downloads/bmcc-bmpcc-bozbmdfilm-to-rec709-lut/

The LUT brings out the contrast and color values captured by the BMCC / BMPCC in Film or RAW mode and strives to preserve highlight and shadow detail [more examples can be found on the download page]

Though it's not free, I think the small asking price of £3.00GBP (approx $3.80USD) is enough to take a leap of faith on. Made a difference to my work flow as I’m sure it will with yours :)

Thank you.

About LUTs - VLOG - SLOG2 - SLOG3 - CLOG http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14650/about-luts-vlog-slog2-slog3-clog Thu, 25 Feb 2016 00:40:41 +0000 apefos 14650@/talks/discussions while hdr video is not real, it seems the best way to increase dynamic range is to use slog, vlog and clog.

When we record video using vlog, slog or clog, does sony, canon and panasonic provide luts for we apply in post production? or we need to develop our custom luts? or we need to buy luts?

I ask this because I think if we need to develop luts it will be a long waste of time... and if we use third part luts maybe it will not have the look we want...

so main question is about if manufacturers provide luts for post production. and, if not, what would be the easy solution...

if someday I surrender myself to slog, vlog or clog, I would like to have easy solution for luts in post... not a waste of time in each scene...

please share your experience with luts,

thanks in advance!

(observation: when I say luts I just what to recover the correct look from the log image, not different grading)

LUT Exchange Program or 5 years old exchanging crayons http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9420/lut-exchange-program-or-5-years-old-exchanging-crayons Wed, 22 Jan 2014 12:24:50 +0000 maxr 9420@/talks/discussions
Please take/picture this thread as for 5 year old exchanging crayons, ok?

Big BIG Thank you to Matt Fezz, see video at the end

Code name: Panatomic-X
Manufactor: Kodak
ASA: 32
Type: B&W negative

LUT type: .cube / size 33
Generated: Davinci Resolve Lite
Missing: Grain

Here's what I did, SOC footage imported into DR, 1 node for very quick&dirty CC (to my taste), 1 node for LUT, 1 node for curves. Panatomic-X had an ASA 32, thus very fine grain. I Added curves, microcontrast and grain just to see how it would look pushed.

It's the very first thing I really "do" in DR. LUT correspond to 3rd still.
BTW, GH3 camera -5 -5 -2 -5 with custom WB; see more on the subject on @maddog15 's neatly conducted thread GH3 Best Video Settings

Feel free to abuse it, the LUT I mean =)

Adendum (which is like an everlasting Gollum)

This is the fishing kit, so that you can LUThem all ,-)
Works in DR 10 Lite too, you can also use EXR files. Actually you can use almost anything, as long as it carries accurately the info and is 16bits; then convert it to a DPX file. From photoshop you'll have to rename ".cin" (cineon) files to ".dpx". Tested with AE, LR and PS exports.

As complementary info, Moving Looks from Resolve to SpeedGrade

Free resources
BM DaVinci Resolve Lite - it is said that L. Davinci invented the first camera obscura, motherLUTer!! je je
• Red Giant LUT Buddy
3D LUT/CUBE to LOOK - Downloadable flash - I cannot make it work though, if you do please let me know
• AE also has an built-in LUT importer and speedGrave a Look exporter/converter

HitFilm Express very very nice NLE and compositing program, 149$ worth free till February the 4th.
