v0.4 is out. a Java player has been added for live view ! most commands are there

To test this :

  • download the attached zip file (last version is v0.4) , and decompress it wherever you want
  • for the live view to work, you need :
  • start the Wifi on your GH3, "new connection/remote shooting" (it works also if you connect through a Wifi AP, you just need to find the IP address of the GH3)
    • if you're using a direct connection you can launch the "Control.html" file after you connected your PC/MAC to the GH3 network
    • if you're using a Wifi access point, you have to find/replace all the "192.168.0.1" in the "requests.html" file with the IP address of the GH3 before launching the "Control.html" file
  • if you want to use the live view on a Windows PC launch control.bat instead of control.html (see above for Java installation). If you're using a MAC, you have to find a way to launch UDPServer with Java, I don't know if it works
  • play with the different settings and commands

  • To take a picture, use the shooting button (you can do continuous shooting with press&hold if the dial is in that mode)

  • To start a recording press "record"

  • manual focusing uses press&hold buttons with 2 speeds, you can play with the interval between 2 successive focusing actions with the input fields on top of the 4 focus buttons.

  • The zoom uses press&hold buttons, with 2 speeds (for PZ lenses of course)

Some commands will not work depending on the selected mode on the dial (ie focal in S mode)

The screen goes black quite often, just take a picture or half press the shutter button to turn it on again. But now that live view works (on Windows at least), you shouldn't have to look at the GH3 LCD anymore.

If the GH3 freeze, you may have to take the battery out (may happend if you use a feature non supported by the selected mode on the dials)

To properly interrupt the connection, just "terminate" it on the GH3 menu

You can stop the video recording using "playmode" (which is the command to display the photo on Lumix Link).I didn't look at the files generated when you do that, if someone could look at the integrity of the video file after this abrupt stop, it would be useful. You have to press "recmode" to control the gh3 again.

Clarification :

This is a PoC. I'm not a developer, and won't spend much time on future version. someone with some basic web dev skills will be able to do a much better job in no time; He just has to look at the code, and eventually ask me.

GH3 hdmi not outputting 1080p despite viera link=off & hdmi mode=auto http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9915/gh3-hdmi-not-outputting-1080p-despite-viera-linkoff-hdmi-modeauto Wed, 19 Mar 2014 06:59:56 +0000 andrevanberlo 9915@/talks/discussions Hey Everyone,

Just got the ultrastudio mini recorder and started testing with the GH3 hdmi out. It sends 1080i50 when it is in auto mode despite the fact that I have rec quality in 1080p/25. 720p/50 is also possible but no 1080p.

I checked the FAQ for GH3 and there it says:

"How to make the Lumix GH3 camera deliver proper, recordable 1080p over HDMI: Deactivate VIERRA Link and Set HDMI Output to AUTO"

With me it doesn't work. Does anyone have an idea how I can do this or are 720p and 1080i the only possibilities?

Thanks

Andre

PS I have installed latest firmware on my GH3

GH4 run 'n gun for 2 separate recorded audio channels: Beachtek MCC-2 adaptor / bracket http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11486/-gh4-run-n-gun-for-2-separate-recorded-audio-channels-beachtek-mcc-2-adaptor-bracket- Sat, 04 Oct 2014 08:50:38 +0000 tommy 11486@/talks/discussions I just got the GH4 and updated the firmware 2.0 (so I suppose the audio buzz is not there). I can add a Rode VideoMic Pro or a Sennheiser Wireless set, but not both at the same time. As I make professional (low budget) documentaries , 2 separate audio channels (1 mic, 1 wireless) is a must.

I'd like to record the audio on 2 separate (!) audio channels (Mic left, wireless right), directly in to the camera (GH4) If a audio backup is placed on a recorder that is even better.

For years I looked into stuff as the Zoom H6 / Tascam DR-100, etc. I like that the sound is recorded extra (as backup), but it is too much for a one mans show run 'n gun. I also don't want to sync in post. (as an editor will need to do that , and won't be happy with this) . I thought of the DR60, but it is big, complicated, bad batteries, etc. and I don't know if it can feed a stereo audio (separated) channel to the GH4?

So probably you'd suggest a Juiced Link / Beachtek preamp, because a pre amp is important, right?

But the GH4 pre amp (set to the lowest -12) is okay right? So I'd only need to get both channels in the camera. I found the Beachtek MCC-2, and didn't see anything here on the site.

What's your thought? Will this work for my purpose? Or is this not reconmended for a 'pro' . The money isn't the biggest issue, but the 'easy handy workflow' is.

My Pros: - no batteries, small, 3 hot shoes, (receiver, mic, light) - perhaps possible to put below the camera - cheap

Cons: - Would a pre amp be much better? - Mini jack vs (balanced?) XLR (would that be much better)

I also have a sennheiser shotgun with XLR, but it is quite big for the GH4. As the VMP already has 3.5 and sennheiser wireless also has that cable, that seems more logical (and smaller).

Downloading Lumix Link .apk file http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9447/downloading-lumix-link-.apk-file Sat, 25 Jan 2014 14:27:17 +0000 barrylay 9447@/talks/discussions I want to use my Kindle Fire HDX as an external camera control and monitor for my GH3 using Lumix Link. The only way to do it is to sideload the Lumix Link apk file, but I cannot find that anywhere. I even have Lumix Link installed on my cell phone and can't find the apk file there. Mysterious. There are a few links that I can find on Google, but they always refer me to the Google Play store and the only option there is to install the program. Kindle doesn't even connect to Play Store, so that doesn't help me.

Does anyone know of a link to the Lumix Link apk file please?

HD video link? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4267/hd-video-link Thu, 16 Aug 2012 12:26:31 +0000 gizmo 4267@/talks/discussions I would like to use some HD video link from my multicopters for some live events coverage. This link should be small and lightweight as much as possible and not to cost a fortune. Do you have some suggestions?
