It is made for crop sensor APS-C cameras, but I'm not sure if it will work on m43 mount. Also, not sure if focus will work manually on GH2 or GH1? Any advice?

Has anyone tried this on a GH2 or GH1?

Adapting integrated (motorized) zoom lenses from super8mm cine camera? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5247/adapting-integrated-motorized-zoom-lenses-from-super8mm-cine-camera Mon, 19 Nov 2012 18:26:14 +0000 tomek123 5247@/talks/discussions Hello,

I found some VERY good offers for super8 film cameras like these:

http://www.super8data.com/database/cameras_list/cameras_revue/cameras_revue.htm

http://www.super8camera.com/netsearch.php?sq=canon+518&page=2

http://www.super8data.com/database/cameras_list/cameras_nizo/nizo_156xl.htm

http://super8arena.com/braun-nizo-4080-p-188.html

Unfortunately, I heard from the sellers that they have unchangeable lenses.

As I understood the zoom distance of this lenses can be changed from a button on the camera body, so probably it would be difficult to take off the lens from the cam... One of the sellers told me the lens has electric control of the zoom and the aperture is changed also from the camera.

I don't know anything about this, but these zoom lenses are pretty fast and VERY cheap (Revue Reflex Zoom f: 1.7 \ F: 8-40 mm and Canon 9.5 - 47.5mm f/1.8 and especially Schneider Macro-Variogon 1,4 / 7 - 80 mm from the Brown cameras) .

I think they could be useful for GH2/3 with a ETC mode, so I wondered if someone already achieved some adaptation of this lens type to micro 4/3?

Thank you in advance.

I purchased this last Fall and have used it with my GH2. Its a very good, affordable way to shoot at this focal length. The focus ring moves very smoothly and fluidly. This is a unique lens in that it has three built-in filters: Y2 (yellow), R60 (red) and 81B (warm). Of course, shooting with the lens on normal is an option too. The adapter fits solidly on the GH2 and had no wiggle room or "play" like other Fotodiox adapters I've used.

I'm asking $200 for everything plus shipping (from USA). PM me if you're interested. Thanks!

I believe know why Coppola chose the GH2 at Zacuto Revenge Shootout 2012 http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5136/i-believe-know-why-coppola-chose-the-gh2-at-zacuto-revenge-shootout-2012 Wed, 07 Nov 2012 22:33:23 +0000 Manu4Vendetta 5136@/talks/discussions I watch some movies I subtracted master Coppola, including an excellent thriller 'The Conversation' of his early years. My first reaction just came out the first pictures is that it looks like when you combine the GH2 or GH1 with old lenses for its look and color, but the texture of the film different though but not as radical.

I think what Coppola to see shots of the GH2 was somewhat familiar with this movie great unknown but which he felt so proud. I'd love to ask him about it, but that is almost impossible.

Excuse me if this thread its trivial and offtopic, but wanted to share this impression.

And I recommend to all screenwriters and directors see this movie frugal, sometimes with limited resources and without a very complex story, but well told and surprising elements can do a good job in this case is a masterpiece.

Attached some pictures of it.

Vivitar vs Canon FD lenses http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4968/vivitar-vs-canon-fd-lenses Tue, 23 Oct 2012 07:57:35 +0000 phazedreality818 4968@/talks/discussions hello all. i am very new to photography and videography. i have purchased a gh2 about 2 months ago and love it. my dad had some old school canon fd lenses laying around from when he was in the military in the early 80s. i bought the ciecio7 adapter and it works wonderfully. i love how the images are detailed, yet soft, and how the bokeh is incredibly nice.

i have a 50mm f1.8 and a 135mm 3.5

i am looking to buy a wider angle lens but i am caught between canon lenses and vivitar lenses for the fd mount. i am looking to get a fast (f2.0 or lower) 24 or 28mm lens, and the vivitar ones are much much much more affordable than their canon counterpart.

my question is this. how much of a difference is there between the canon fd and vivitar fd lenses? is the difference in price worth it to go for the canon? how does the vivitar lens hold up on its own?

These are fairly low res files for web delivery but the high res footage looked great too. Here are the four spots:

http://www.nixhealth.com/home/reform

The Epic was used for the wide and medium shots, the GH2 was used for the CU cutaways on the face and hands. I think the footage cuts very well. 'Just goes to show that you don't need to spend $100K on a camera package to get very nice results.

Collective noun: a Stash, an Arsenal or a Hoard of Lenses? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4931/collective-noun-a-stash-an-arsenal-or-a-hoard-of-lenses Thu, 18 Oct 2012 19:32:44 +0000 goanna 4931@/talks/discussions I envy those who have a set of lenses. Mine are more like a clutter. I might even have to admit to having accumulated "an embarrassment of lenses".

When I stack my most used ones together they look like a small city CBD. I would prefer a CBD of lenses to my current full postcode of lenses with its outlying trashy suburbs.

OK, so we've got a Murder of Crows, a Huddle of Lawyers, a Splatch of Brochures on a hotel-room sideboard...

What's an appropriate collective noun for a group of lenses?

Any recommended Lens Selections for use with GH2? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4434/any-recommended-lens-selections-for-use-with-gh2 Fri, 31 Aug 2012 13:32:42 +0000 SAS 4434@/talks/discussions Hi again everyone.

I have been looking around for the best "bang for buck" HD video camera with an interchangeable lens system that I can build a reasonable rig for - 4 under £3,000.

In the end I decided that I could not wait and put down a hefty deposit towards the Panasonic GH2H. the one with the 14 - 140mm lens included...

After I have paid the rest of the full price it will have cost me £900.

I am interested to know which lenses you all recommend I try out and invest in for use with this camera.

I am likely to make factual documentaries, also music videos and a small number (minimum of 10) short fictional films.

Also what lighting kits are good and which rigs do you recommend?

many thanks....

Tips for shooting stills on the GH2, in particular with manual lenses http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4035/tips-for-shooting-stills-on-the-gh2-in-particular-with-manual-lenses Tue, 24 Jul 2012 20:58:33 +0000 jimtreats 4035@/talks/discussions So i've hardly ever shot any stills with my GH2, using it pretty much solely for video up until now. I know that it's actually one of the better m4/3 cameras for stills, and doing a holiday recently with it as my only "proper" camera I did dabble a little.

I'm always shooting my video in 24p mode, which I'm guessing is the reason that any form of still shot whilst shooting video is impossible. A bit of a shame.

I was using my Voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95 and was experiencing quite a few rubbish shots when trying to take them in program mode. I guess it wasn't working out so well having no control over the aperture. In the end i was forced to go for shutter priority and dial in something fast enough to be sharp... 1/40th or faster basically. I believe then i still had problems with auto ISO, and ended up having to manually dial in isos to get a result that looked close to what i wanted.

It seems quite a struggle really. I'm assuming with coded lenses the experience would have gone a lot more smoother?

I have a few wedding shoots coming up in the next few months, and i wonder if i could manage to shoot stills and video all with just the GH2.. if not i'll rely back on my old trusty Nikon D3 for stills, but i just don't look forward to the hassle and weight of that, as well as the GH2!

Anyone got any tips?

A wide dilema (with added cashback for UK folks) http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2682/a-wide-dilema-with-added-cashback-for-uk-folks- Sun, 25 Mar 2012 06:16:05 +0000 matthere 2682@/talks/discussions I have had the 12mm 1.6 on order from fotokonijnenberg since mid January, thinking that it may arrive by April 3rd when I'm off to California for a bit of a road trip, now they tell me delivery is due mid April! So anyway I am looking for a wide lens, thought about the upcoming Panasonic wide adapter.. that is also now April release.. (you can see a theme here!) So the Olympus 12mm f2 has been on my radar for a while.. except for the price.. but when looking more closely Olympus has a deal on at the mo in the UK.. can get £185 cash back for the 12mm and also Amazon offers another £30 voucher with the 12mm f2 which means £390 / $620 aprox.

Now I really do like the look of the 12mm 1.6 (flare I could get used to) and I like the 12mm f2 apart from the fact that it is so very sharp.. I like the rendering of fd lenses through my experiments. I just wondered about other's experiences with either the 12mm (f2 or 1.6) or other alternative wide options? Has anyone tried the 12mm f2 with Sedna C or blackmist?

Interested in any wide thoughts :)

UK users maybe interested in the olympus cash back deals on lenses and cameras: http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/02/uk-electronics/shops/olympus/PEN_Lens_Accessory_Cashback_Mar12.V138174725.pdf

PS. The 45mm 1.8 is currently £260 with £70 back! - Not affiliated in any way.

UPDATE - On closer inspection the cashback for lenses is only if you've bought a camera... Back to the drawing board! Still interested in peoples thoughts on wide angle for the GH2 :)

Good lenses for documentary filmmaking and run & gun shooting http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3059/good-lenses-for-documentary-filmmaking-and-run-gun-shooting Mon, 30 Apr 2012 06:33:29 +0000 sohus 3059@/talks/discussions I am currently looking for a good lens for documentary filmmaking with the GH2. I love my primes but when you are shooting documentary, it is very inflexible. One way of solving this is adding one or two bodies so you can just change them around but a zoom lens is the best option IMO.

Lenses that qualify are:

FourThirds:

OLYMPUS : ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-60mm F2.8-4.0 SWD http://www.four-thirds.org/en/fourthirds/standard.html#i_012-060mm_f028-040_olympus

Panasonic : LEICA D VARIO-ELMARIT 14-50mm F2.8-3.5 ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. http://www.four-thirds.org/en/fourthirds/standard.html#i_014-050mm_f028-035_panasonic

OLYMPUS : ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-54mm F2.8-3.5 II http://www.four-thirds.org/en/fourthirds/standard.html#i_014-054mm_f028-035ii_olympus

MicroFourThirds:

OLYMPUS : M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm F3.5-6.3 EZ http://www.four-thirds.org/en/microft/standard.html#i_012-050mm_f035-063_olympus

Panasonic : LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm F4.0-5.8 ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. http://www.four-thirds.org/en/microft/standard.html#i_014-140mm_f040-058_panasonic

I focused on the Olympus/Panasonic lenses for now. I think that the Panasonic : LEICA D VARIO-ELMARIT 14-50mm F2.8-3.5 ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. and OLYMPUS : ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-60mm F2.8-4.0 SWD are good candidates. Especially the Olympus has a very long range (24-120mm in 35mm terms) while still offering a F2.8 wide-angle (and constant F/4.0 over entire range). Documentary shooting is about making trade-off and I will always have my primes for really dark situations (Voigt 50mm/.95, SLRMagic 12mm/1.6 and Olympus 45mm/1.8).

Does anyone here own one of the above lenses? Please share your opinions with me. I probably wait until the Panasonic X 12-35mm and 35-100 are announced as they could be good candidates too, although 12-35mm is a more limiting range.
