Think of it:

-Cleaner video Digiscoping at longer ranges with a high quality scope.
-Cleaner photographic digiscoping at longer ranges.
-Its possible with the EX-tele converter fuction to further increase the zoom.

If any of you guys have a Swarovski Scope or a Kowa Scope and do digiscoping. Then keep in touch because I have gatherd some photos off the internet of what the Panasonic GH2 can do with a Swarovski scope and its looks very interesting. Swarovski Scope cost £1700, so 5000mm zoom is a big +... and it costs £8000 for a 1300mm dedicated lense.

Vintage Yashica lens, a mini guide http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1302/vintage-yashica-lens-a-mini-guide Fri, 28 Oct 2011 11:44:56 +0000 LongJohnSilver 1302@/talks/discussions An old mini-guide (January 1982) on Yashca lenses in italian language automagically translated with google.

From the introduction:

Finding second hand Yashica lenses can still be a viable solution for those who own a Yashica or Contax without the need for commercial lenses often of poor quality. Since I was lucky enough to use them and try, I wrote these brief notes that can serve as convenient GUIDE FOR PURCHASE and help you choose and buy the most interesting targets (and avoid the worst).

If it were not for the anti-reflective coating (a much more modest but in line with that of the competition today is not the best) often made it difficult to distinguish these from the corresponding old Yashica Zeiss objectives. A quality / price unbeatable. The best targets are those initialed ML while the DSB are the old economic series (in my opinion to let it go). The MC are the most recent economic compact lens whose characteristics are almost proportional to the price (to avoid).

Help with Soligor/generic 1.33 anamorphic lens. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/662/help-with-soligorgeneric-1.33-anamorphic-lens. Sat, 13 Aug 2011 08:52:33 +0000 Gabel 662@/talks/discussions Sharpness seems ok, especially with stuff at a distance. But this thing needs a diopter which brings me to my second point.

That damn lens hood! Firstly I'm a matte box user and that thing gets in the way. Secondly, it won't take filters. So I need to get a solution to this.
One is to get a new front, if these exist (the front says called DC-S HOOD 72mm).
The other is to remove the hood. Here was a guide on how to remove one from a Nikon lens and I'm guessing this technique would work here too though.

But it won't take filters. As I have yet to find any 4X4 diopters (I hear Tiffen makes them, but haven't been able to find them), but if these exist, this would work great.
Otherwise I could try to fit a filter holder on the front. The area around the lens is recessed as you can see, which I think could work to mount a step ring to get a filter gear.
But would it work to mount a diopter behind the lens? Then I could just get a 52mm one that I could mount in between the anamorphic lens and my lenses. This would mean I won't have to mount a step ring.]]>

As usual for Tokina AT-X this lens is build like a tank.
Not sharpnest wide open for photo, but for video it is pretty ok.
I have one for Pentax, and despite rarely using it do not intend to sell.

Lens seems to be in good state.
Seller also includes three 77mm Tiffen filters (including Tiffen UV and Tiffen CPL).

Price: $100 auction, $175 BIN (BIN for such lens with good filters is really low).

Nikon version. With scratched front glass.

Price is not top low - $499. But discount is quite significant (new price is in $800-900 range).
On tele lenses you normally do not see scratches.
Lens is build quality is very good, sharp from wide open. Fast HSM focusing.

12mm f2.0 m4/3 Zuiko : Snapshot Focus http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/322/12mm-f2.0-m43-zuiko-snapshot-focus Sun, 03 Jul 2011 08:03:45 +0000 lenuisible 322@/talks/discussions

"Olympus's take on the concept is to deliver a premium quality, large maximum aperture lens that becomes the first in the system to feature 'snap focus', a system by which the focus ring can be pulled back, engaging a modified manual focus mode. In this mode the lens is designed to feel much more like a conventional mechanically-operated manual focus lens, rather than the usual focus-by-wire behavior.

There are four major differences between 'snap focus' and conventional manual focus mode. Firstly, the relationship between the focus ring movement and the movement of the focusing elements is fixed - rather than being speed-sensitive. This direct relationship allows the focusing ring's movement to be stopped at either end of the focus travel which, in turn, has allowed Olympus to add proper distance and depth-of-field scales to the lens. The final difference you'll notice in snap focus mode is that the damping of the ring's movement has been modified to provide a little more resistance and more 'feel.' Such engineering touches don't come cheap, of course, but really do help make the lens feel like a high-end manual focus optic. Right up until you decide you want to re-engage the super-fast autofocus."

How it works: Image stabilization http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/288/how-it-works-image-stabilization Sun, 26 Jun 2011 01:25:20 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 288@/talks/discussions The secret to an image stabilized lens is an internal lens element that is allowed to float off of the original optical axis. While the front and rear elements remain stationary, the internal floating lens bounces to and fro to compensate for the movements of our shaking hand. The scenario roughly unfolds as follows. Tiny gyroscopes and accelerometers detect subtle movements of the lens. They then trigger circuits which move the floating lens in equal and opposite directions to counteract the movement.
