For a Hacked GH2, Is a recording limit of 3 minutes 57 seconds normal if recording limit is left on?

I just hacked my GH2 for the first time with Canis Majoris Day. I forgot to check the recording time limit box in, and the camera now only records for 3 mins 57 seconds. Is this simply because of the high bitrate? It's not even something I mind, since I used to do a lot of work on film and each roll would last less than that. I'm asking just to make sure there's nothing wrong. It's the first time I've done this.

My interests are candid moments and events. I tried Nikkor 50mm handheld. Not a good idea on GH2. Too much shakes. 1/60 shutter speed is my default for 1080p24. Divide by two. 30mm seems the longest focal length that works for handheld without OIS. Luckily there are fast lenses under 30mm. Noktor 12mm 1.6 and Nokton 25mm 0.95 are looking great.

I'd use a tripod or a shoulder rig to go longer focal length without OIS unless jacking up the shutter speed.

OIS isn't a magic though. With handheld, I think OIS is effective up to 50mm for m43 zooms at 1/60 SS. 14-42, 14-45, 14-42X, 14-50 (43 lens) are all good. Longer than that would require a tripod or a shoulder rig. Suppose software image stabilization doubles the useable focal lengths. Then 100mm seems the maximum focal length for handheld. Panasonic 12-35X and 35-100X at f2.8 or faster would be great, but $$$$. I’d prefer 14-100X f4 around $1K.

In photo there seems a simple rule for minimum shutter speed (SS). Just an inverse of focal length. e.g. 1/50 SS for 50mm lens.

For 2x crop sensor, I guess a recommended minimum SS would be twice faster. e.g. 1/100 SS for 50mm. Or roughly 1.85 times faster for 16:8 ratio.

If we use 1/60 SS for video, focal length longer than 35mm would need more stabilization... I guess. Or am I utterly wrong about this?
