Already own a FX 6300 + R7 260x desktop, will be selling it after that.

I have a $1000 cap. I'm outside U.S. so, Dell would be better because of support here. Also need to buy on Amazon. So, find those two computers:

Dell G3 - 8th gen i7 six-cores, GTX 1050ti 4GB, two fan slim chassis; or Dell 7000 - 7th gen i7 quad-core, GTX 1060 6GB, better cooling and chassis.

Both have thunderbolt and have same price. Other things are identical or not relevant.

Application will be primary Adobe CC and Davinci, but plans use it to learn Nuke, Flame, Vegas and game development things (Godox, Unity, Unreal, Maya).

What do you think?

Panasonic Image App: Use with Laptops and Tablets http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14044/panasonic-image-app-use-with-laptops-and-tablets Mon, 09 Nov 2015 07:17:06 +0000 Brian_Siano 14044@/talks/discussions I was thinking of sinking some cash into a laptop, and it occurred to me that I ought to take location shooting into consideration. So I've been looking at Android laptops and two-in-ones: I figure, I could use the two-in-one tablet as a field monitor using the Panasonic app with my GH4-- I figure I'd use the camera's screen as cameraperson, while the director can watch remotely on the laptop/tablet. And the laptop features could be used for file storage and clip logging.

And I'm also considering getting a Windows two-in-one-- that is, if the Panasonic app works under the Android emulators available for Windows. The benefits there are having two OSes, more options for things like hard drives, and maybe even getting a machine capable of running Premiere Pro for some editing in the field.

So, I'm looking for advice. Does the Panasonic app work under an Android emulator well enough for field use? Has anyone else used equipment in this manner? (And is Panasonic considering creating a version of its app to run under Windows?)

GH4 laptop Requirements? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9956/gh4-laptop-requirements Mon, 24 Mar 2014 12:58:47 +0000 mpgxsvcd 9956@/talks/discussions Let me start this off with saying that I know a desktop is a better option for this. However, I absolutely must have a laptop to do my editing on the road while it is happening. I have a matter of hours to edit this footage and not days, weeks, or months.

Also I am a PC guy. I understand that some people use Macs. That just isn’t for me. I want a fast PC laptop that can handle editing the GH4 4K video for less than $2000.

I definitely need to upgrade my laptop before my GH4 gets here. However, I am not sure what specs will help me and what will just cost me more money and not really give me any benefit.

Obviously a 4K screen would be ideal to match the footage. However, is that really necessary? With a 15-19 inch screen is that extra resolution going to matter at all? How much are the 4K laptops going to be? Is 1920x1080 going to look about the same as 4K on this size screen? Do any of you have a 4K laptop already?

What Grpahics processor? I have always been an ATI person before. However, Nvidia makes great video cards as well. What is the minimum ATI and Nvidia card that will work for editing 4k footage? Is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M enough?

Processor. It is confusing about what processor are fast and what processors are just pretending to be fast. My understanding is that I7 doesn’t always mean what you think it means. So what processor should I be looking for? Is the i7-4700MQ the best processor to get right now?

Operating system. I really hate Windows 8. I have a laptop with it and I hate it. I really don’t want to get another one with Windows 8. Will Windows 7 hold me back in any way? I have a lot of astrophotography programs that I also run and those won’t work properly under Windows 8.

Ram. I know the more you have the better. However, will you see a difference between 16 Gigs and 32 Gigs? There is usually a significant price difference between those. Is 16GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM enough?

Hard Drive. I am using USB 3.0 external drives right now. I need a lot more than 250 or even 500 GB so solid state is not really an option for me. Is solid state that much faster than USB 3.0?

Here is one laptop I am looking at. It is an Alienware 17.3" Laptop - 16GB Memory with the components I listed above. Are there better options out there for less than $1850?

Reasonable Mac Laptop for 4K Editing http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15566/reasonable-mac-laptop-for-4k-editing Mon, 22 Aug 2016 23:08:57 +0000 matt_gh2 15566@/talks/discussions Hey all,

I'm looking to get a Mac Laptop for editing/color grading 4K footage (for feature films). How expensive a Mac Laptop do I need to get and still be able to edit and color grade 4K footage? Do you definitely need a quad core? Can you get decent performance from a dual core?

Thanks guys, Matt

FS MacBook Pro Retina 2.7Ghz 16GB 512GB SSD GeForce 650m 1GB + 128GB Hyperdrive http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13078/fs-macbook-pro-retina-2.7ghz-16gb-512gb-ssd-geforce-650m-1gb-128gb-hyperdrive Sat, 30 May 2015 05:15:39 +0000 thougts2uk 13078@/talks/discussions Hi Guys,

I am selling my fully loaded MacBook Pro Retina. It has all the updates available at the time I purchased it such as fast processor (2.7GHz turbo boost to 3,7GHz), 16GB Ram and 512 SSD. It comes boxed as new with all the original packaging. It is in perfect working order and looks brand new. Since the day I bought it it has had a rubberized case on, a Moshi keyboard protector, Moshi trackpad protector and Moshi palm rest protector on. I can leave these on for you or remove them. I bought the laptop in Korea so as well as the normal western alphabet there is also the bonus of korean symbols on.

It works flawlessly with video production or graphic design. I run Davinci Resolve on it and also the whole Adobe Creative Cloud as well as FCPx.

I am only selling because I recently upgraded to an iMac 5k so I have no need for a laptop anymore.

I am also throwing in a Hyperdrive with 128gb micro sd card. This fits in the SD card slot flush and provides additional 128gb storage. perfect for documents or storing movies on leaving the SSD available for more intense applications.

I am selling for 1400GBP. I will post via Hong Kong Post or DHL via express and trackable method with insurance.

Email me directly if you have any further questions. (stuart.howe@gmail.com)

Detailed Spec:

Retina Display 15.4" (2880x1800) i7 2.7Ghz (Turbo Boost to 3.7Ghz) 16GB of 1600Mhz DDR memory 512GB SSD Intel HD Graphics Nvidia Geforce GT 650m with 1GB DDR5 memory 720p FaceTime HD Camera

Ports: 1x MagSafe 2 2x Thunderbolt 2x USB 3.0 Headphones Dual Mics 1x SDXC card slot 1x HDMI

ASUS Zenbook UX303LB-DS74T/UX303LN-R4274H: Anything Better Than This? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13025/asus-zenbook-ux303lb-ds74tux303ln-r4274h-anything-better-than-this Thu, 21 May 2015 09:29:52 +0000 BlueBomberTurbo 13025@/talks/discussions Been searching for a more portable laptop to use than my Late 2013 rMBP 15. I don't mind losing a bit of CPU grunt in exchange for reduced size and improved battery life. The biggest hurdle I've found is finding a competitive screen. I had previously narrowed it down to the new Dell XPS 13 and Acer R13, but the Dell has issues with firmware locked adaptive brightness, and the Acer had horrible viewing angles. Beyond those, it seems like the ASUS UX303 line, specifically the LN (now LB in the US) version with the Nvidia GPU, is the best match for me. The ones listed in the title are roughly the same, just different naming for different regions and a different LCD. Here's a good review with specs:

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-Zenbook-UX303LN-Subnotebook-Review.137995.0.html

I really can't find any faults as far as specs, performance, or battery life. Only thing left is to see the screen in person. Is there anything else with similar or better specs at a similar price ($1299 USD w/1800p display + 512GB SSD) that can compare? I'd rather not go back to Apple, as the only reason I bought the rMBP 15 was for the hardware, and I haven't warmed up to OS X or the gimped flavor of Windows run in Parallels and Boot Camp.

Lenovo Laptop good enough to handle GH4? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11856/lenovo-laptop-good-enough-to-handle-gh4 Thu, 27 Nov 2014 02:14:57 +0000 club_irate 11856@/talks/discussions I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y510 (59-390016) Laptop (4th Gen Ci7/ 8GB/ 1TB/ Win8/ 2GB Graph). I might be switching to a GH4 in the coming week as its a hush hush gig i need shoot 4k footage for.

Is the model i have up to handle the 4k footage from the camera? Or do i need to go for better ram?

If yes, is the Ripjaws a good option (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231732) or anything better is out there in the market currently that i should rather go for? (Provided the voltage is in accordance to my laptop).

Thanks in advance

Advice in in the search for a cheap laptop for LightRoom http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9469/advice-in-in-the-search-for-a-cheap-laptop-for-lightroom- Mon, 27 Jan 2014 13:19:33 +0000 Manu4Vendetta 9469@/talks/discussions For mobility I need a laptop. My budget is low, no more than $ 400 and as much as $ 500.

Lightroom is a dragon that literally eats my computer, when I do any operation as simple as it is, I can not do anything else or is very slow, for example if I have an audio or video is choppy. When I export a photo from LR lasts 1-2 minutes, if I want to export to more than 3 times the memory will not let me. As a second option I like to operate Premiere or Vegas editing videos GH2, although this is much to ask.

Im know that budget I cant find a fast computer, but at least I did not delay much.

This chart is my current laptop. The processor is obsolete, but 4GB of RAM is acceptable but far from ideal today.

PS: My experience with HP is not good, do not think it repeat with this brand.

Thanks!
