Im going to buy one but I cant decide which?

I had a Blackmagic Cinema Camera which i sold, though I loved the image!

I had a Sony 6300 which I sold, im not getting on with Sonys that much.

Im seeing some really good footage with the Gh5.

But I still keep coming back to Canon ML raw, which has such a great image.

So do I go for a Gh5 with a speed booster or a 5d mark iii??

Thanks

Chris :)

Canon5D Mk III 4k Magic Lantern http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16675/canon5d-mk-iii-4k-magic-lantern Sat, 01 Apr 2017 20:38:00 +0000 JanH 16675@/talks/discussions I just found this over on Andrew Reid's site. Initially thought it might be an April fool's joke - but apparently not. The images from the camera look amazing (my non-technical evaluation!).

http://www.eoshd.com/2017/04/super-35mm-4k-comes-canon-5d-mark-iii-new-magic-lantern-module-real/

The Canon 5D Mark III will now record 4K, raw thanks to A1ex and his team at ML. The resolutions available are: 1920×960 @ 50p (both 1:1 crop and full-frame – 3×3 pixel binning) 1920×800 @ 60p (same as above) 1920×1080 @ 45p and 48p (3×3 binning) 1920×1920 @ 24p (1:1 square crop) 3072×1920 @ 24p (1:1 crop) 3840×1600 @ 24p (1:1 crop) 4096×2560 @ 12.5p (1:1 crop) 4096×1440 @ 25p (1:1 crop)

Limitations currently exist, of course (no sound is recorded and B/W display) but recording time seems very useful (no limits quoted, if they exist.)

Must say I find the robustness of the raw files a joy to grade.

Magic 'Lantern' Hour, 5D Mark III tests at dawn http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10271/magic-lantern-hour-5d-mark-iii-tests-at-dawn Mon, 28 Apr 2014 14:27:10 +0000 JPB1138 10271@/talks/discussions
Just a short video shot Sunday Early AM pre dawn and thru magic hour, Wanted to test out Magic Lantern RAW on my Mark iii. And see how it handles these conditions. Some very impressive things for a camera in this class. And with a little finesse and production values it could shine with cameras two-four times its price. This was shot with three lenses on a 5d Mark iii. The downloaded version is much better than the Vimeo encode, so please watch their for a more accurate representation (no banding).

Canon 24-105L Canon 70-200L Rokinon 14mm

No gear except camera tripod and lenses. Hope to do some more creative uses coming up.

Color graded and edited in Davinci Resolve Lite using a mix of Cinelog LUTs, and Vision Color LUTs. Very light noise reduction on the early shots applied with neat video, and a small level of grain added throughout the video to give it a a little filmish kick. Download original to get a much better idea of grain appeal. I myself have come from GH2 land and so the raw experience has been a joy. I personally enjoy the color grading process so it is very nice to have all the latitude and detail to work with.

Any comments or questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Enjoy.

Short film "Sonnenflecken" (Sunspots) http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8247/short-film-sonnenflecken-sunspots Thu, 26 Sep 2013 12:59:57 +0000 sh1ggy 8247@/talks/discussions Hey folks,

I just released my newest short film shot on a Canon 5D Mark II (raw), including a couple of shots from my new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.

For quality's sake, I created a special streaming page including a download link in 1080p. It's in German, but I think it's pretty straight forward.

Plot: In a post-apocalyptic world we follow a man on his desperate way to survive.

Hope you guys like it!

Elementarschaden (Short Movie|5DII RAW|Zeiss Primes) http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7511/elementarschaden-short-movie5dii-rawzeiss-primes Sat, 13 Jul 2013 04:17:45 +0000 fatpig 7511@/talks/discussions Hello Guys,

I am happy to share with you the trailer for our Short Movie "Elementarschaden", which means as much as "Damage from natural Hazards" - about a fictional Incident, taking place during the real flood catastrophe in Germany, June 2013.

We shot on 5DMKII RAW and Zeiss Planar & Distagon Primes only. The movie is now applying in all major film festivals in germany, therefore I can only publish a trailer for now. I added English subtitles for your convenience.

I am happy to hear your thoughts! :)

regards

Felix

Magic Lantern is Hacking the Canon 7D http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7669/magic-lantern-is-hacking-the-canon-7d Fri, 02 Aug 2013 10:10:06 +0000 MarcioK 7669@/talks/discussions Looks like that they already found the raw buffer and recorded it, with no audio. No word about resolutions and framerates, too.

I've been to Berlin last weekend and this is what came out. Everything is shot handheld with a magic lantern(april 9th build) t2i and a nikkor 50mm f/1.8 + an unknown 35mm f/2.8 m42 lens. In case you should be interested in the music, it's by "SBTRKT"

Magic Lantern on Canon 500d/ T1i http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3102/magic-lantern-on-canon-500d-t1i Fri, 04 May 2012 07:06:17 +0000 AlbertZ 3102@/talks/discussions Anyone has tested Magic Lantern on Canon 500d/ T1i? Many friends tell me that there's not a huge difference between 500d and 550d, except for high-iso performance (>6400, but for video, who cares?); while t2i was very popular , t1i (500d) was not used by videographers because of its lack of manual controls and only 20 fps mode; however, now using Magic Lantern you can get manual controls, 24/25 fsp, focus peaking, HDR.. I' ve noticed that these "old" cameras are very cheapy (you can get used t1i bodies for only 250 €, while canon t2i costs at least 450€ ;) anyone has tested Canon 500d video quality improvements with Magic Lantern?

Features for stills http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2741/features-for-stills Sun, 01 Apr 2012 01:54:46 +0000 MartinOcando 2741@/talks/discussions First of all, I'm new at this forums, and congratulations to Vitaliy on his new endeavor. Great for him, great for Panasonic and ultimately great for us.

I have a question. Are there any plans to enhance stills functionality, like intervalometer, focus trap, exposure trap, etc. A-la Magic Lantern for Canon, but for our Lumix cameras?

Thanks
