As everyone knows already, the hotshoe becomes loose on the GH3, the sad news is that the screws come completely off. This weekend on a trip to San Francisco my hot shoe became really loose I had 2 wireless transmitters on it, so this morning I decided to open my gh3, yes I know very stupid!!!!!!!! Do not do this!!!!! it's not easy to do this and parts can easy break. After opening the camera I discovered that taking out the viewfinder is not easy, one bolt is blocked by the board and taking out the board was a bit too much for me, so there is one particular bolt that stayed out, yes .... I did not put it back because it is too difficult to put it back in without pulling out the board, so back to the hot shoe, the hot shoe seems to be screwed by two bolts on each side, incredibly both bolts came off, and the sad news is that one is probably inside my camera moving around because I only found one :-( so what I did is that I used a bolt from the outside of the body and put back two bolts on the hot shoe, but another sad thing I discovered is that this part of the camera is really weak, I honestly cannot see that much metal around here so my advice to people is: Do not put anything too heavy on there. Another sad thing is that yes the bolts that hold the hotshoe do not have locktite so that is why they come off so easily, all these small screws are not tight too much because if tightened too much they give out. Honestly it's sad to see such expensive camera made so flimsy in the inside, I have 2 GH3 and I hope they last me a good time cause I paid premium for these cams. The first picture has a red circle around the area where both bolts came off.

When pulling out the back plate, I broke a part of the chasis, I think I was suppose to take out the dial and take a screw out from there, so be aware if you simply pull the back as I did, you will brake this part too. The camera is back together and working, I tested it and all seems to be ok even though I did break some parts :-(

So there you have it guys, these hot shoes will come loose eventually unless panny fixed the issued on a different batch, I bought mine in November of 2012.

See pictures bellow.

gh5 raw issue http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/17356/gh5-raw-issue Mon, 17 Jul 2017 07:12:46 +0000 sebolla 17356@/talks/discussions hi,i was trying some timelapse in raw with long exposure and i had a lot of red white green dots on the image so i tried to test the camera in my room to see if the proble persist....well the shoot has been taken at f4 iso 320 6" sec exposure everything manual noise reduction turned off raw plus jpeg... the jpeg came out just fine with a few red dots almost invisible.... The raw file which i converted with lightroom and silkypix(the official panasonic raw developer) have hundreds of red green white dots mostly in the shadows area...to make it a bit clear i brought up the exposure by one stop... here are the 2 images... i don't know if i have a faulty camera,if someone could replicate a long exposure shot it would be really appreciated....thanxx

GH2 IR Filtering and How to Achieve Clean Shadows http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7785/gh2-ir-filtering-and-how-to-achieve-clean-shadows Wed, 14 Aug 2013 20:46:08 +0000 smsjr 7785@/talks/discussions For the most part I am very happy with the latest crop of hacks. I think they are squeezing about as much juice from the GH2 fruit as possible, but two areas I still am curious about.

Today I was testing with Tiffen Standard Hot Mirror. I will try to post some results in the coming days but two things jumped out at me. Black fabrics were contaminated with or without the hot mirror and as usual were also a bit noisy which is something this camera suffers from. The noise I can deal with in post, especially when I capture a nice accurate profile of it on set. Makes the job in post that much easier.

But I'm curious what people have experienced with IR solutions. In my arsenal, I currently have a Tiffen hot mirror, Tiffen IRND 1.5, 1.8, 2.1 as well as Pancro IRND 1.2 and 1.5. I have only tested with the Tiffen filters. Haven't tried my Pancros yet.

I also need to test more materials under various lighting.

I'd love to hear from people who have done this testing already so I can compare notes.

Hot/Stuck/Dead Green Pixel in Video Footage http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5550/hotstuckdead-green-pixel-in-video-footage Fri, 21 Dec 2012 22:28:46 +0000 matt_gh2 5550@/talks/discussions I'm hoping someone has some knowledge on this problem and hopefully a solution. I've got a "green dot" appearing in all my video footage. It's in the same location and doesn't move. It's not always visible, but when panning, I'll see it if it goes over certain types of colors, focus, etc. There's also another gray/translucent dot. I've eliminated the following possible causes (different SD Cards, with or without Hack, different Lens, & different Monitor footage is viewed on.)

So I guess this is what is called a "Hot Pixel"?

How do I fix this? Thanks.
