An exceptional price/quality ratio PC screen!

4 important specifications cached my attention:

  • IPS screen with wide viewing angle
  • 100% sRGB color gamut spectrum coverage
  • Flicker free
  • Blue light filter

Out of the box the screen came well calibrated, with a small Delta-E variation of color. After a manual calibration, it approaches perfection (except for the typical brighter black of IPS screens).

The "Flicker Free" and "Blue Light Filter" functions are very important for the eyes, especially for long working periods of time in front of the computer. I did not encounter problems related to ghosting or clouding, the image uniformity of my sample being impeccable. It doesn’t make much sense to comment much about IPS technology, whoever is interested in image editing, knows why to choose an IPS screen in favor of other technologies on the market.

The screen is elegant, with thin edges on the side and top and the construction is made of good quality plastic. The foot is made of metal and offers an inclination from -5 to 20 degrees.

In conclusion, for my needs (image editing) it’s an excellent screen at a very decent price. I recommend it with confidence!

All about 8K format, Super-Hi, H.264 and HEVC http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4364/all-about-8k-format-super-hi-h.264-and-hevc Sat, 25 Aug 2012 06:38:36 +0000 stelldust 4364@/talks/discussions ITU has just approved the new Super-Hi format. I expect we will first see TVs with the new format. Any speculations on how long it may take to see consumer products for this format?

The 8K format will host a resolution of 7,680 by 4,320 pixels, which is 16 times as sharp as current HD TVs and offers resolutions of around 2MP. This is approximately the equivalent of a 32 megapixel photo. A new high-resolution tv format that is 16x sharper than today's HDTV has been approved. A new high-resolution tv format that is 16x sharper than today's HDTV has been approved.

Japanese broadcaster NHK has developed three cameras able to film in this Super Hi-Vision resolution at 120 frames per second.

AX33 and Frame Rate and HD options http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16617/ax33-and-frame-rate-and-hd-options Tue, 21 Mar 2017 13:45:40 +0000 filmchickie 16617@/talks/discussions I am using the Sony AX33 Camera. I would like to know how I can get to the option such that I can get to the option where I can shoot with frame size 1920 X 1080 and Frame Rate of 29.97 fps.

Currently, I seem to only be able to get to the 1920 X 1080 setting when I choose HD, but then it shoots in Frame Rate of 60fps.

Please advise.

"People mistakenly call it a color space," Griffis said. "It's actually a two-dimensional plane and what you really need to know if you're a creative is this is your palette of colors but what the horseshoe chart doesn't tell you is how bright each color can get. White will always be the brightest because it's the sum of all three primary colors."

"So we've got this interesting problem that we've lived with for the better part of 60 years where the colors in film go out farther but you can't get as bright and in television there are less colors but you can get brighter," Griffis told Gizmodo. "And the practical consequence of that for the content creator is that the Red Bus of London that looked so great in the movie looks like Campbell's Tomato Soup on the Blu-ray unless someone does something."

So Dolby (who makes the most amazing video monitors) finally did something. And When it hits TVs and Computer monitors... all this REC 709 bullshit can finally fuck off.

I am so damn happy... you don't even know.

Camera Upgrade 4k, Blackmagic, or Not? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14938/camera-upgrade-4k-blackmagic-or-not Fri, 08 Apr 2016 17:26:43 +0000 AnamatisRmG 14938@/talks/discussions Let me keep this short. I've secured $5000 funding for a camera upgrade. I've been using an FS100 for 3/4 years and have enjoyed low light and 60fps capabilities. I've been freelancing and running my small prod company for the same amount of time and my commercial is reaching new levels, and my clientele is slightly climbing the ladder.

The big question is : Do I need to upgrade to a 4k system to be able to compete next year and the following 3?

If so do I go the Big Ursa route? Or the Ursa Mini 4.6 k. (I may be able to acquire a Big Ursa V1 for $3800)

Either way I'm looking at pairing with an A7s as lowlight isn't a huge muscle with these cameras.

If 4k isn't necessary than I'm looking at an FS700 as over crank is a big component of my work and I maintain low light capabilities.

My main concerns about the Big Ursa are flying it (gimbal, crane, slider, hand held, tripod for that matter)

I need to convert my G7 4K footage to either FHD MP4 or MOV but I'm having an issue. The first is that my 24 fps footage is being converted to 30 fps and I see no way to stop that. Is this the way it is or a bug anyone else notice it? The other issue is I converted to both MP4 and MOV and the MOV file seems to be identical to the UHD file visually but the MP4 version definitely has increased contrast. Can anyone explain this? Looking for any solution or suggestions. I'm using Resolve 12 to edit which on my system has a very difficult time with the UHD files which is why I need to convert.

Only 5.6" so small enough to comfortably put on a rig, and with the EVF creates another point of stability. Focus Assist+ is quite handy when using manual focus lenses. False Color has two modes, one of them shows ideal skin tone range (instead of only underexposed and overexposed). Cost new was $600 before shipping, I'd like to get $500 and will absorb shipping costs within the US.

includes all original packaging and accessories including the sun hood, lens cap, screen protector, Sony battery bracket.

looking for cheap Studio Monitor 1080p advice http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5449/looking-for-cheap-studio-monitor-1080p-advice Tue, 11 Dec 2012 05:00:34 +0000 fatpig 5449@/talks/discussions Hello guys,

I am currently using an old 15" LCD monitor as my preview device, which is not very accurate. I do not have the need for a real studio monitor. what bothers me about this solution is the black level.

Today, still all TVs start with black at 16 of 255 shades as opposed to 0 of 255 shades in a PC monitor. (This is my understanding, correct me if I am wrong) At least, What looks grey on a PC monitor is often times still black on a TV.

I was thinking about getting a small 1080p TV as a monitor, but maybe you have better suggestions.

I am looking for a small Monitor for my working space (maybe around 20") that has TV black levels. Or would you suggest changing that in the graphics card config...?

If this camera delivers, this is going to be my next camera. BlackMagic Design is gong to deliver what RED promised with the original Scarlet announcement. Thunderbolt connector, free Resolve, Touchscreen for metadata entry!

image

This happens when honest companies like BlackMagic Design, which don't have to artificially protect their high-end gear (I am talking about you Sony, Panasonic, Canon) start entering the camera business. If the image quality lives up to the specifications, this is going to be THE camera to get. Sony, Canon, Panasonic won't be happy in that case. The 5D Mark III could do the same but Canon doesn't allow it because of C500/C300. Same for Sony, Panasonic. If BlackMagic delivers, I will respect them so much!

I won't be surprised if BlackMagic Design will launch their own NLE down the road as well.

Livestream & the GH2 are a complicated beast. It is not an officially supported camera and there are issues with getting the HDMI out to be recongnized by a blackmagic card or blackmagic shuttle. When you finally do get past this hurtle, you can't use the audio because it's either not there or out of sync. After many frustrating combinations I actually got the GH2 working and livestreaming in HD over livestream with multiple cameras.... and audio in sync. I was so frustrated at this point that during one of the tests I picked up one of my puppets and was cursing at the cameras and computer yet this time it was actually working....... until....

WARNING: PG-13 strong angry language from a pissed off wizard.
I figured you guys would get a laugh out of this.

PS:

That was with no light and the kit lens which is a bad combo cause I'm at 3200 iso.... to see some stunning livestream streaming live HD footage with the GH2 hdmi out look at this:

Maintaining best quality while transferring HD to SD http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2820/maintaining-best-quality-while-transferring-hd-to-sd Mon, 09 Apr 2012 13:45:23 +0000 bostonmike 2820@/talks/discussions I have a question maybe some of you more seasoned people can help me with. A friend asked me to enter one of those 48 hour film contests with him. The problem is I typically shoot in 1080p 24fps..in cinema mode on my GH2. The rules for submissions are as follows:

... a self-contained SD Quicktime file with no proprietary codecs on either: - data DVD - USB flash drive miniDV playable DVD

I'm editing and rendering on Vegas Home Studio HD 11.0. I'm wondering if I should be changing the settings on the camera BEFORE even filming, to easier convert to SD..There are also so many output options on Sony Vegas that I'm at a loss on what the best transfer would be to maintain the best quality in standard definition. Wondering if a USB flash drive would maintain better quality than a playable DVD?...it seems like rather than forcing filmmakers to downgrade their finished product, the contest staff should be upgrading their equipment to handle HD...these are only 4-7 minute videos after all. The finished videos will be screened in a full size theater..something tells me they are going to look not so good.

Thanks for the help.
