Anxiously awaiting my GH4, I'm starting the same thread topic that I did with the GH3. At 32 pages of input and tests for the GH3's Best Video Settings, I thought it would be a good idea to do the same for the GH4. Dedicated to user input and results regarding video settings alone. Please share and post your video tests, comparisons and opinions.

I look forward to sharing and learning from you all.

GH4 Telephoto Lens http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13140/gh4-telephoto-lens Mon, 08 Jun 2015 14:37:45 +0000 tedbrah 13140@/talks/discussions Micro 4/3 has a very limited amount of telephoto lenses, and the lenses that are native to Micro 4/3 aren't very good (Not very sharp on the long end). I need a relatively inexpensive lens under $450 that will provide at least 200mm reach and is very sharp at the long end. I've looked at some vintage tele lenses from Canon FD, Nikon F-mount(Nikkor), and other old lenses but there isn't enough information on the sharpness of the lenses compared to Micro 4/3 lenses for me to make a decision. Any suggestions for lenses and/or comparisons between modern and vintage lenses would be greatly appreciated.

GH4r Time Recording in Europe http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13714/gh4r-time-recording-in-europe Tue, 15 Sep 2015 03:34:26 +0000 colinire 13714@/talks/discussions I just bought my second GH4 in the UK and am totally pissed to hear that Panasonic are now releasing a newer version soon which won't have the European time limits on filming presently set at 30 minutes. Is there any possibility of releasing a hack just to bypass this particular setting? Thanks in advance.

Motion qualities of Panasonic GH1,2,3,4 series http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12703/motion-qualities-of-panasonic-gh1234-series Tue, 31 Mar 2015 09:33:12 +0000 Blackout 12703@/talks/discussions Greetings all, long time no see or rather.. type.

I got burnt out for a while and am thinking of getting back into things.

I have a GH1h, GH2h, GH3.... and honestly the GH3 had motion characteristics I didn't like compared to the GH1 which was the most filmic and the GH2 hacked which was the most detailed sharpest of the bunch.

I still look back on my Saturday with the the dogs and can't believe the GH1 shot that.

(watch in 1080p HD full screen)

Now it's a bitch to mix these cameras cause the all look different but I have pulled it off. I have used the GH3 least of all.

Is there any point now to go to the GH4 for the supposed 4K (downsampled) editing... or has the time of the dslr faded and should I be looking at something new. I have the 14-140 stock lens (sharp as hell but needs light, the pancake, and to 40-100 panny (which I hate with the more cropped GH3)

Ideas? alternatives? Suicide?

Lenses to use with GH4 / 4K Cameras http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9575/lenses-to-use-with-gh4-4k-cameras Sun, 09 Feb 2014 13:37:30 +0000 JanH 9575@/talks/discussions I'm pretty excited about the potential of the GH4 (and I suppose any other 4K cameras at $2,000 or so). I am currently using the GH13, mainly in 720p mode with a variety of legacy full frame lenses. Canon FD, Minolta MD, Nikon, Helios, Pentax etc. These all produce a lovely image, less clinical than the Panasonic 14-140 kit lens, IMHO.

Now with 4k coming along, I'm wondering if these older lenses will have any chance of producing the detailed images that the higher resolution sensors are capable of. Or, whether the way forward would be to use an RJ or Metabones speed booster with these lenses to get the detail/ resolution? It would be a shame to not be able to get the benefits of 4k unless using m43 lenses.

Does anyone have any experience, or opinions on this subject? I'd appreciate any comments.

Computer hardware and software capabilities for GH4k codecs http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9543/computer-hardware-and-software-capabilities-for-gh4k-codecs Tue, 04 Feb 2014 07:01:31 +0000 endotoxic 9543@/talks/discussions since the arrival of the Canon Cinema 4k line, no other manufacturer (expect JVC shit implementation) is going full on this. Sony has some camcorders but at low level of 4k.

What would be needed to run such massive codecs that GH4k would deliver. I know 200mbps its not that much, but decoding that shit in low time on the timeline i think would be a problem.

Anyone with experience in 4k with some codec implementation that its not JVC or Mjpg from canon?

What specs to use in a machine that can handle this. Obviously the monitor must be 4k, but the computer, it is ready for it.

Lets read your opinions.
