The show is filmed where I live in Belfast and we were trying to make ourselves known. I directed the film, although I shot small portions on G7 as either B cam or when the DP was unavailable.

Here's the finished film.

It was mainly filmed on the FS700 with the firmware upgrade that turns it into a 4K beast. Some scenes shot with GH4 and G7, and even a few LX100 B cam shots. Personally, I think it shows that money is best spent elsewhere as long as you have a half decent and reliable camera system. It was a massive headache though matching vintage lenses on GH4 to more the modern canon and panasonic glass, nightmare. Don't do it, stick to one or the other.

Cheers, Ciaran

Enhance your chances of surviving World War 3 by playing this browser game http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10260/enhance-your-chances-of-surviving-world-war-3-by-playing-this-browser-game Sat, 26 Apr 2014 15:29:27 +0000 karl 10260@/talks/discussions If you believe in the recent prophecies on the upcoming World War 3 you are probably already preparing for it - e.g. buy stashing plenty of Vodka to bribe your future overlords. But are you able able to tell them apart from your compatriots?

If you're from France, this browser game may help you to be prepared - just click on the correct flag to indicate which country the displayed person originates from.

Interview Series on Scoring History http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9002/interview-series-on-scoring-history Sat, 07 Dec 2013 15:59:45 +0000 thepalalias 9002@/talks/discussions Support The Arts for the Price of A Movie Ticket Next year I will be launching a group of (in-person) seminars, lectures and a YouTube series with one thing in common: part of the the profits gets donated to educational programs for arts or music, here the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley. I want to help support creative education, both directly and indirectly. If you want to support, there are four ways you can help - so PM me if you are interested in any one of them and I will keep you updated!

1) We need interview guests! One of the series is called “High Scoring”. This is going to feature interviews with game and film scoring composers talking about the history and craft of scoring. Far from the usual discussion emphasizing creative process or tools or “industry realities”, these interviews will actually look at musical influences and changes in scoring approach over time. The continuity of composing for media. Following this discussion, the audience will also have chance to participate in a Q & A.

Several people have already volunteered to be guests and all I can say is “thank you!” for your desire to both help the arts and to help expand the perception of what we do as composers. It is my hope that the series will help both help to give a sense to the greater public of the history of what we do (in much the same way that music history classes do for classical composition) while providing a unique perspective to those of us already in the scoring community. Admission should be only a little more than the price of a movie ticket.

2) You can come to one the interviews, lectures or classes. It currently looks like they will be held in North Hollywood and tickets will likely be $15 to $25 depending on the event.

3) You can help us gauge interest in terms of the potential classes and the best schedule (for instance, would weekday evening or weekend evening classes be better?)

Here are some likely candidates (but feel free to suggest your own): - “High Scoring” The History and Culture of Film & VG Scoring - Supporting Your Child’s Creativity - Intro to Photography and Video - Composing and Producing - How To Communicate Better With Your Clients and Customers - Cultivating Creativity - Developing Expertise: The Keys to Learning Effectively

4) We will be launching a YouTube series in conjunction with “High Scoring” and possibly other courses as well. That means if you want to donate time or labor to any of the related areas (recording, filming, editing) it will be greatly appreciated. The more help we get, the more content we can create in a short period of time and the more attention we can bring to our craft.

5) We will need to get word of mouth out! Even if you can’t help directly or attend in person, chances are you know someone that would want to come to the seminars or classes or at least would want to watch the videos.

Anyway, this is something that I’ve been laying the groundwork for a long time and we only recently found a good venue for it. So I hope you’ll support us in making it happen any way that you can. I feel like we can really help make a difference, both for our peers and for the children that will soon be following in our footsteps.

So if you’re interested, please PM me or e-mail me at per@perlichtman.com. Thank you.

Trailer for my first (sort of) short film http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8853/trailer-for-my-first-sort-of-short-film Fri, 22 Nov 2013 08:40:30 +0000 Tjibbe 8853@/talks/discussions A trailer for a filmproject I'm doing with some friends, that is now in post-production. Our first attempt at something with some kind of narrative, cast, crew ect.. We thought we could shoot it in 1 night, in the end it took two exhausting 12 hour shoots + shooting a lot of shots excluding cast. I have no idea if the end result will be anything to write home about, but mán we had such a laugh and learned so much!

You can't make out much from the trailer, as usual.

Tell me what you think!

Ps. It's kind of a sequel to a video we made for the Tomorrowland goldenticket contest, which the trailer refrences.(shown below under the trailer)

EXQUISITE CORPSE - a collaborative video proposal http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6989/exquisite-corpse-a-collaborative-video-proposal Sat, 18 May 2013 14:00:55 +0000 maxr 6989@/talks/discussions

Hey guys, allow me to take you away from latest tech news and developments for a "game" proposal. Do you know about the surrealist's cadavre exquis… well, case you don't

Exquisite corpse, also known as exquisite cadaver (from the original French term cadaver exquis) or rotating corpse, is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule (e.g. "The adjective noun adverb verb the adjective noun") or by being allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed.

WIKI

I always liked better the allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed version, so here's what I propose:

Anyone registered in PV can participate, just has to post a reply - so everything's transparent - and send me a private message, for email and download details. Order of participation will be same as registration.

Each participant will have 3 days to make a new shot, we're not recycling footage… is a question of experimentation process and flow ;)
there will be a max of 1 hour over the deadline. After that I'll unmercifully jump to next in list.

I'll take the dealer part, receiving the files and sending to next participant just the last (previous) one.

IF failing deadline or any of the below rules, I'll go on with next in list… nothing personal but pragmatism.

Resulting mess will be under Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs
CC BY-NC-ND creative commons license

All participants will receive a digital copy

RULES

  1. 1 Shot
  2. B&W only
  3. 1920x1080p24
  4. Between 1 and 5 sec
  5. In camera in&out and edit; no post edition, including sound and grading
  6. Any camera capable of above specs (remember B&W, 24p, etc.) allowed

Remember this is just a game so ENJOY!!!
I'll be second participant, only for practical reasons, as from then on I would have seen more than just the last piece.

So, whose the brave soul willing to start?!!!

Alter Ego : Unity, Discipline, Tenacity http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6615/alter-ego-unity-discipline-tenacity Sat, 06 Apr 2013 09:52:07 +0000 krotal 6615@/talks/discussions Hi PV ! Here is my latest work, a trailer for an Alternate Reality Game taking place in my hometown (Metz, France). This trailer was made to let the players feel the mood of the game. As a student, I did this during 3/4 months, on my spare time. I did the maximum tasks I could handle : storyboard, scouting, directing, camera, grade, cut, very limited "vfx", sound design (enjoyed a lot this part). I learned a lot during this project, and can't wait to start another one !

I hope you'll enjoy it ! Feel free to comment ;)

Thanks to @Vitaliy_Kiselev and @driftwood for their work !

PS : I don't have Plus Vimeo Account, I'll put a 1080p DL link soon !

Just picked this up for my iPad after seeing it on touch arcade, and so far its rather brilliant. What a neat idea. Sometimes the edit points can be a bit off from where you expect them but its such a nice idea and clearly must be exercising your editing muscle just a bit.]]>
