Patched firmware not displaying new filename after install http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3163/patched-firmware-not-displaying-new-filename-after-install Wed, 09 May 2012 23:32:39 +0000 pundit 3163@/talks/discussions Hello,

I'm new to this. I just picked up my new GH2 and after first updating the Panasonic GH2 firmware from V1.0 to V1.1 and doing some testing I then attempted to install the Sanity 5 firmware patch. I followed the PTools instructions. I downloaded Ptools and the GH2__v11.bin from Panasonic and opened the bin file in Ptools. Then I applied the Sanity 5 patch and saved the patched firmware as "GH2__v12.bin". After installing it on my GH2 I checked the firmware version and it still shows it to be Version 1.1 not Version 1.2.

How can I determine if I have actually patched the firmware? I would assume it hasn't worked because I don't see any change in the firmware version and can't tell from the menu settings if anything else is different.

I seem to be missing something here.

Thanks pundit.

PTTools Feature Request - Camera/Owner ID http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3029/pttools-feature-request-cameraowner-id Fri, 27 Apr 2012 06:36:16 +0000 duartix 3029@/talks/discussions Would it be simple to have some kind of personal digital signature available as a hack parameter?

Something that would make it to every photo you took via EXIF information. I think it would be very useful if we could use PTTools to define a small text signature (ex: "This camera belongs to John Doe, 1000 - Planet Earth, North Pole: john_doe@earth.org").

This way, if your body gets stolen and assuming there is a 50% chance that it ends in hack ignorant hands, you have a meaningful chance to see some traces of it surfacing the Web in the form of pictures taken with that camera.

P.S. - I posted here because my searches for feature requests threads were fruitless.

ISO bug? and how to proceed with my GH2 update http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2280/iso-bug-and-how-to-proceed-with-my-gh2-update Tue, 14 Feb 2012 13:28:26 +0000 chouonrow 2280@/talks/discussions HI guys! I have read (I dont know where) that my hacked firmware can have some problems to ISO, causing that the gh2 is always with "auto ISO" and i think I have this problem because you can select any of the ISO but when you press record it show "auto ISO" i think that sometimes it is really in AUTO, but i dont think if this is only on my mind :S , I make reference to 24p recording in Manual movie mode.

Anyway if you think this "problem" is only inside my mind =)... I was wondering about updating to last official version of GH2 firmware because of the 25p, which is a must for me since the region I live in, but I need those marvellous 44Mbits and so on of the hacked version... so what do you think? Must I update to official firmware? Are available the last hacked firmware that run with last Panasonic firmware? or Must I forget the official firmware?

Thanks in advance

GH2 fw 1.0E vs 1.0F http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2133/gh2-fw-1.0e-vs-1.0f- Sat, 28 Jan 2012 18:48:03 +0000 deepcoat 2133@/talks/discussions Hi to all. I have bought recently new GH2 from EU. Today I have decided to update of my GH2 of modified 1.0E fw instead of a factory installed fw 1.0F (version F is visible in service a mode). As a result I have received a surprise, at observance of all requirements for updating at presence in a root folder of a card of a file of the modified 1.0E fw file, its GH2 simply doesn't see it. At pressing play button the camera simply offers viewing of contents of a card. At placing in a root folder both versions, modified 1.0E fw file and new official 1.1 the camera also sees nothing. And only at presence in a root folder of official version 1.1 my GH2 suggests it to be update. How I understand, without hacking 1.0F or 1.1 way to the expanded functions for new bodies GH2 is closed? Excuse me for my English :) Thanx!

I think that it will be useful because there are so many patches and sometimes I do not know what patch I have loaded in my GH2 body, I can only gest by seeing the remaining minutes on 32Gb card, maybe it's only me to have this problem, well I am quite unorganized,....]]>
SOLVED: GH2 Firmware upgrade - No Valid Picture to Play error http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1809/solved-gh2-firmware-upgrade-no-valid-picture-to-play-error Wed, 21 Dec 2011 19:41:38 +0000 wastedthelight 1809@/talks/discussions
When you open pTool and load the firmware, at the bottom you should see a letter somewhere between A and J in green, click it. This now loads the presets. NOW click "Version Increment" (first option in the option tree). Then change the Increment to something such as 10.

The key issue here is that I was changing the Version Increment BEFORE clicking the presets. So as far as the camera was concerned, no new firmware was on my card.]]>

I open ptool, load the 132 firmware and not one letter towards the bottom of ptool becomes green.

very frustrated, at a stand still, ready to donate when I get the hack working.

i have faith p-v.com will come through in the end here...]]>

When using 3rd party legacy lenses that have no electrical connection to the GH2, what is the status of the lens correction firmwarein the GH2? Is the lens correction firmware active/activated only when a m4/3 lens is used, or is in on all the time? A second question, if the lens correction firmware is on all the time, can it be turned off with the HACK? ]]>
Wow - Panasonic ‘impressed’ with GH2 hack, vow to bring 25p update http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/777/wow-panasonic-impressed-with-gh2-hack-vow-to-bring-25p-update Fri, 26 Aug 2011 16:06:36 +0000 Felix 777@/talks/discussions
Mr Uetmasu product developer:

A firmware update may be coming for the GH2 to add support for 25p, and additional improvements in video abilities. If there are features you want adding, contact Panasonic and let them know. They are aware of the work the “hackers” are doing and are impressed with their work, but that they (Panasonic) need to test everything / confirm there are no problems before rolling out updates. The GH3 is not due imminently, as the GH2 is still extremely popular, but that there is a high end GF series camera in the works.

Will be interesting to see what the ‘other’ video improvements are! Hopefully AF tracking and 60p.

Kodak ZX3? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/188/kodak-zx3 Mon, 06 Jun 2011 20:16:11 +0000 vegandelight 188@/talks/discussions
Just wanted to see if anyone has checked out if something cool could be done with Kodak's popular ZX3 camera?
Its a really cheap one but it has a very nice price point compared to the GO PRO's and produces 720p60 and 1080p30.

There are downloadable firmwares, but i simply dont have any knowledge and thought someone else already tried.

Some options that would be desirable. The cameras is already PAL/NTSC record switchable and has 720p 50/60fps, 1080p 25/30 fps, 960p.

1. Exposure lock, either shutter speed or ISO lock as the camera has fixed aperture of f2.8
2. Enable higher bitrate
