The catch? Must be able to record either h.264 and/or h.265 (including all variants like Sony). Raw and so on is a plus, and would be nice to have in addition to a compressed format, but for long events it's a deal breaker.

Spanned MTS file recovery after GH2 freeze http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10705/spanned-mts-file-recovery-after-gh2-freeze- Wed, 02 Jul 2014 04:22:55 +0000 inqb8tr 10705@/talks/discussions First, I apologise for making new topic about this since I know it has been talked about over and over but I'm on tight schedule and after quick search couldn't find definite answer.

GH2 froze during long recording. Not sure for how long it remained frozen since the camera was fixed on tripod and I have been messing with sound recorder, all the time checking the red record circle on display, which was frozen, that i haven't figured out immediately. I continued filming after reinserting the battery.

Tomorrow morning, on the card I have 00-03.mts spanned files that are not recognised in Premiere as spans, but all work, and 04 is the beginning of new spanned sequence. I am missing 10 or more minutes of the show (EDIT: between that 03 and 04, to make it clearer).

Does this mean that it crashed on spanning point and that it is pointless to try with recovery software or something..

B4 lenses for event shoots? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9837/b4-lenses-for-event-shoots Mon, 10 Mar 2014 15:29:54 +0000 kupchenpo 9837@/talks/discussions I have some event shoots coming up. Single speaker on a stage with two camera angles. Both cameras will be gh3s. I've rented a couple nikon 80-200mm for these in the past, they are cheap to rent, and really good lenses, but when I want to reframe I loose focus and when I need to change exposure, I have to do it in clicks. It seems that a good quality b4 lens adapted to m43 would do just the trick. The only thing is, I can't find any footage, other than bs test footage of random stuff. Or anyone talking about using these constructively. Has anyone out used these lenses for events or weddings with results they were happy with? With which specific lens? Or perhaps seen footage of that would make you lean either way? I'd want to use the one with a 2x extended, I never use extele unless it's not possible to get by without.

Thanks guys.

Recommendation on sound recording system http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6609/recommendation-on-sound-recording-system- Fri, 05 Apr 2013 13:29:00 +0000 Brian_Siano 6609@/talks/discussions I do some work with a theater company, and one of our longstanding problems is that the theater itself has terrible acoustics. I use a Rode Videomic for shooting, and that's nice, but the quality's not perfect.

So we're looking into other strategies. I like the idea of getting lapel mikes, having the actors wear smartphones or recorders, and syncing the tracks up in post. Good aspects; cheap, simple, easily expandable to any number of performers.

Someone suggested that we get a system where the mikes send wireless signals to a central recorder. I'm not keen on this, because it may be expensive, it may be difficult to balance the sounds afterward, and the number of mikes may be limited. But I don't know, so I agreed to ask around for such a system.

We're shooting with DSLRs (mostly GH2's), so that may be a factor here.

Any suggestions?

Stunning Video of Live Event - Lpowell Settings http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2281/stunning-video-of-live-event-lpowell-settings Tue, 14 Feb 2012 14:20:38 +0000 Rambo 2281@/talks/discussions This was shot handheld with GH1 hacked with Lpowells 75Mb Peak reliable Settings. 720p 50fps, shutter 1/50, Panasonic 14 -140mm with ND8. The color and clarity blew me away, the broadcaster doing the "live to air show" could not believe the quality from this little camera.
