Some trumpet concerto for the holidays. Torelli is credited with inventing the concerto, although many composers were messing around with it in the late 17th century.

It's possible that in 1680 or so, Giuseppe Torelli changed the history of music by inventing the concerto. Then again, maybe several people were working on it at the same time.

C.P.E. Bach 300th anniversary

2014 is the 300th anniversary of the composer C.P.E. Bach, one of the most influential of the sons of J.S. Bach. One of the obvious differences between the father and son is that C.P.E. wrote cello concertos, whereas J.S. Bach wrote the suites for unaccompanied cello.
