There comes a time in every P-V addict, PToolholic and shopaholic, when we have to think seriously about gear cases.

This is my suggestion, the Pelican 1510, which is the largest gear case that can still be 'carried on'- (making sure that all sharp objects- hex wrench etc are out)

Can be picked up for about $200USD, the velcro separators are extra, but really cool for camera equipment.

GH2 Accessories – Cage, Matte Box, Rails, Monitor

Well, I've held off on this as long as I can. Non-paying clients have forced my hand – so I have to part with some beloved gear that I put a lot of time, research and money into acquiring together. This is a nice "full package" of GH2 shooting accessories. It includes:

• Anodized Cage with handles, rails, allen wrenches, and threaded holes, even has lips to secure camera and allows battery change without removing camera.

• Matte Box (vertically adjustable) with flags and different sized rings,

• Rails (vertically adjustable on tripod mount), both top and bottom rails

• Monitor with three batteries, hood, charger, short HDMI cable, and AC plug. Not a high-end monitor, but works well, reliable, and is great for focusing.

• Follow-focus, including two different mount heights, I can forewarn that this does have some play, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's an easy fix.

• Threaded arms and shoes mounts – work for mounting any items on cage or camera.

All is in good cosmetic and working condition (and in a nice Pelican Case), except the minor play on the follow focus which was mentioned. If possible, I'd like to sell the kit or as much together as I can. Check out pictures and make me reasonable offer if interested please.

*note this does not include the camera bodies themselves.

Static Electricity with Ziploc bags in Pelican Case?

I have a pelican case that I keep my camera, 3 lenses, 4 batteries, and 7 SD cards in. I have a few small parts that I'd like to just put in ziploc bags, and keep those ziploc bags in the pelican case too. Do ziploc bags introduce any kind of risk of static electricity that might negatively affect the SD cards or camera?

Okay to leave camera/lens/rig out vs Need to Store It

Curious to know what people think about whether it's okay to leave out my GH2 with lens on. I don't like breaking down the rig and taking off camera to put in pelican case, and then taking off lens to put in pelican case. Is it okay to just leave my camera rig, with camera and lens, out on a table, or should it be broken down and stored in my pelican case?

Ester Foam

Hi, All! Last night I decided to spring for a Pelican Storm iM2500 case for my camera gear, as the small case I have now is overflowing. I bought the case new on Ebay without foam because I have a hatred deep in my soul for Pick and Pluck foam. In my experience, Pick and Pluck just doesn't hold up over time.

This had me spending over an hour scouring the internet for non Pick and Pluck ester foam at a reasonable price. Here is the best reliable source that I found (and purchased through).

It may look just as expensive at first glance, but the 1" thick sheet I bought for $43 ($55 with shipping) is a very large 54"x72", which when cut to my case size will give me nine 1" thick layers.

Just thought I'd share and open some discussion on foam, cutting foam, types of foam, etc.

Ester foam is important in a case for electronics because it is anti static. The "plank" foam they sell is not necessarily non static, but it is much more dense. It'd be great for storing larger, heavier items like a slider, tripod or rig.

As a side note, Which do you prefer? regular Pelican or Pelican Storm case? I personally like the Storm cases for their sturdier and more sensibly designed retractable handle as well as for their large push-button latches that don't break your fingers every time you open the case.
