PR

Panasonic has today announced the new LUMIX FZ80 from the popular FZ series that packs a powerful optical zoom and superior controllability, including manual operation over photo and video recording. The LUMIX FZ80 features the exceptionally-versatile LUMIX DC VARIO 20mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 60x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 20-1200mm), which makes it possible to capture dynamic landscapes, wild animals and birds from a distance.

The newly integrated 18.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor and advanced image processor Venus Engine also achieve high-speed response and high-quality images even in high-sensitivity recording.

For an even faster response and higher mobility, the LUMIX FZ80 boasts a high-speed, high-precision AF with DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology[1], which shortens the focusing time. It calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels at a high 240-fps signal exchange speed. As a result, the LUMIX FZ80 achieves an AF of approximately 0.09 sec[2]. This benefit increases as the focal length grows.

The LUMIX FZ80 also offers high-speed burst shooting at 10-fps (AFS) / 6-fps (AFC) to capture fast-moving subjects in crisp focus. Thanks to the touch-control system, users can quickly focus right on the subject and even release the shutter with touch operation to capture fleeting photo opportunities.

The LUMIX FZ80 records smooth, high-resolution QFHD 4K videos in 3840x2160 resolution at 30p. The powerful 60x optical zoom and POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) with Active Mode suppresses blurring, even in video recording. Taking advantage of 4K technology, users can enjoy 4K PHOTO shots and a variety of derivative functions, such as the new Focus Stacking, Post Focus, Light Composition, and 4K Live Cropping. For more creative freedom, Creative Control and Creative Panorama options are available.

The LUMIX FZ80 also integrates a 1,040K-dot rear monitor with touch-control system. Together with the 0.2-inch 1,170K-dot EVF (Electronic View Finder), users can capture subjects in clear focus. It also includes Wi-Fi® connectivity to offer a more flexible shooting experience and instant image-sharing with easy operation. With hot shoe and compatibility with a variety of optional accessories, the LUMIX FZ80 goes beyond a standard telephoto zoom compact camera while providing high-quality photos and an exceptional 4K video recording experience.

Mitigate distances with a powerful 60x optical zoom lens

The LUMIX FZ80 features the stunningly versatile LUMIX DC VARIO 20mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 60x optical zoom - both as photos and video footage. The 20mm ultra wide-angle lens captures an approx. 140% wider angle of view compared with a 24mm angle of view. The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) with Active Mode effectively suppresses hand-shake vibration both in photo and video recording.

The Intelligent Zoom is included with the LUMIX FZ80, which extends the zoom ratio up to 120x equivalent, maintaining high picture quality even when combining a digital zoom.

Capture unmissable moments with high-speed response, 4K PHOTO and 4K video

The 18.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor is newly-integrated into the LUMIX FZ80. Together with the high-performance image processing LSI Venus Engine, it elevates the response, sensitivity and image quality to an even higher level. Incorporating high-speed digital signal output technology, the FZ80 shoots 10 (AFS) / 6 (AFC) fps in 18.1-megapixel full resolution with a mechanical shutter.

Taking advantage of 4K technology, users can enjoy 4K PHOTO shots with the LUMIX FZ80. 4K PHOTO lets the user capture fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps by extracting the best frame from a 4K burst file to save as a photo. Plus, multiple images can be automatically saved as 4K PHOTO shoots all at once. A maximum of 150 frames in five seconds can be saved following a designated frame.

It also comes with the Post Focus function, which enables users to select the in-focus area even after shooting. This is helpful especially in macro shooting where strict focusing is required or for changing expressions by changing the focused subject. This function has been developed by combining the high-speed, high-precision DFD (Depth From Defocus) auto focus technology with 4K technology. Both Post Focus and Focus Stacking can be activated quickly with the dedicated button on the top panel.

The LUMIX FZ80 also records stunningly smooth, high-resolution QFHD 4K videos in 3840x2160 resolution at 30p in addition to Full-HD 1920x1080 videos at 60p in AVCHD Progressive or MP4 (MPEG-4 / H.264) format with practical full-time AF.

The LUMIX FZ80 enables 4K Live Cropping in video recording to achieve stable panning or zooming in video recording. Thanks to its digital operation, panning and zooming images are smooth because it does not physically move the zoom lens.

A variety of video recording options are also available for users to choose from - High Speed Video, Time Lapse and Stop Motion Animation. High Speed Video records subjects in fast motion at 120fps.

Take amazing images and video even under strong sunlight

Equipped with a static-type touch-control system, the 3-inch rear screen with 1040K-dot high resolution features an approximately 100% field of view. The touch-control system lets the user immediately focus on a subject and even release the shutter by simply touching the screen.

The LUMIX FZ80 also has a 0.2-inch LVF (Live View Finder) with a magnification ratio of approx. 2.59x / 0.46x (35mm camera equivalent in 4:3) in 1170K-dot equivalent high resolution, 100% field of view. Thanks to the high 60-fps frame rate, image lag is also minimized making it suitable for shooting fast-moving subjects under strong sunlight.

Full manual control is available with LUMIX FZ80 to enjoy more creative photography. The design of the grip has also been re-engineered for stable holding during extended shooting.

Other Features

Easy Wireless Connectivity via Wi-Fi® with Smartphones
The LUMIX FZ80 integrates Wi-Fi® connectivity (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n) to provide a more flexible shooting experience and instant image sharing with easy operation. Once the camera and a smartphone or tablet are connected, installing Panasonic's dedicated application, Panasonic Image App for iOS / Android, users can shoot, browse and share images remotely. Users can also upload images to a variety of social media services right on the spot.

AC/USB Power Charging
The camera’s battery can be recharged either via AC or USB based on the users’ preference.

The FZ80 will have a black body and will be available in March for $399.99.

Sound mixing, and matching tracks recorded in different ways http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/18255/sound-mixing-and-matching-tracks-recorded-in-different-ways Thu, 16 Nov 2017 17:46:46 +0000 Brian_Siano 18255@/talks/discussions I'm finalizing a video project, and there's a big issue with our sound recordings.

Here's the background. While shooting, we obviously got camera mike sound for all takes. But we'd rented and used a couple of shotgun mikes with a Tascam recorder for many scenes, and the sound we got from those is marvelous. Obviously, my question is about making the camera mike tracks sound a bit more like the fuller, shotgun-mike tracks. Or vice versa, if that's what's needed.

I'm not much of a sound person, so I'd have to understand the principles involved, and then learn to use the Premiere Pro or Audition tools to accomplish the job. Can anyone point me to some good tutorials that might help?

Additionally, the X1 offers Live HDMI output along with a wide 24mm angle LEICA DICOMAR 4K Lens and optical 20x zoom. The X1 has amazing 5-Axis O.I.S. for 4K 24p recording, UHD 60p/50p recording, dual codec recording (UHD and FHD) and IR shooting. While offering high image quality and advanced functions allowing the user record images exactly as intended, it boasts high mobility and operational ease only a handheld camcorder can provide and streamlines workflows to support professional video production. In response to the rising demand for 4K video content, the Panasonic HC-X1 4K camcorder helps create attractive and beautiful 4K videos.

Newly Developed LEICA DICOMAR 4K Lens with the Industry’s Widest Angle 24mm and Optical 20x Zoom

The newly developed integrated lens system boasts the industry’s widest angle at 24mm. It allows low-distortion, wide-angle shooting without the use of a wide conversion lens, thus supporting professional video production. It is also equipped with a 1.0-type (inch) sensor to realize the world’s first optical 20x zoom. Quick zooming is possible from wide-angle to telephoto. The 4-Drive Lens System individually drives each of the four lens groups to minimize the drive range of each lens group and provide optical 20x zoom with its small body.

Panasonic HC-X1 Ultra HD Professional Camcorder

Equivalent to 35mm under 4K 24p (aspect ratio of 17:9). Wide angle 24mm is the widest in the industry for a camcorder with integrated lens. (As of 31st August 2016, according to Panasonic survey.) World’s first for a camcorder with integrated lens having a 1-type (inch) or larger sensor. (As of 31st August 2016, according to Panasonic survey)

High-image-quality, High-sensitivity 1.0-type (inch) 4K Sensor

The effective 1.0-type (inch) MOS Sensor (9.46 megapixels at 4K24p/8.79 megapixels at UHD, FHD) offers an appropriate depth of field and excellent balance between image quality and sensitivity. The HC-X1 can record in 4K24p (4096 x 2160), UHD 60p/50p (3840 x 2160) or FHD 60p/50p (1920 x 1080). For the global business of professional users, the system frequency can be flexibly selected from 59.94 Hz, 50.00 Hz and 24.00 Hz. The file format can be selected from versatile and easy-to-use MOV (QuickTime), MP4 and AVCHD. The variety of recording modes with selectable image quality, frame rate and bit rate settings respond to a wide range of applications from cinema production to online distribution.

Functions and Design to Support Professional Camera Work

The lens barrel features Triple Manual Rings for zoom, focus and iris operations. There are a total of 13 user buttons, nine on the body and four on the LCD touch panel. These user buttons can be allocated with desired functions. The 3.5-type (inch) monitor built into the handle section can be pulled out and turned 270 degrees in the vertical direction for high-angle, low-angle and selfie shooting. The EVF is a high-resolution (approx. 1,769,000 dots) color OLED display with superb color reproduction. What’s more, the HC-X1 is equipped with a wealth of focus assist functions to support quick and accurate manual focusing, such as MF Assist, One-Push AF, Expand/Peak, Focus Transition and Area Function.

The ND filter can be set to OFF, 1/4, 1/16 or 1/64. Gain selector and AWB selector are also provided. The controls are designed and engineered to meet the needs of video professionals.

Advanced Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.)

The correction area was expanded to approximately 900%* of the conventional area to strongly correct low- and high-angle shots (compared with Panasonic’s AG-AC160). In FHD mode, a 5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S. + that adds electronic image stabilization to optical image stabilization detects and corrects 5 axes, including the roll rotation.

High-speed, High-precision Intelligent AF

The Micro Drive Focus Unit has achieved stable and high-speed AF with excellent tracking performance to ensure accurate focusing, which is extremely important in 4K shooting. The AF operation settings are customizable. By adjusting the speed, tracking sensitivity and area width, the user can program the AF operation exactly as intended in accordance with the subject type and application.

Super Slow Motion and VFR (2 to 60 fps)

The Super Slow Motion function records HD images at a high speed of 120 fps (59.94 Hz)/100 fps (50 Hz) to provide a slow-motion effect. The HC-X1 is also newly equipped with a VFR (variable frame rate) recording function that allows the change of frame rate setting in ten steps from 2 to 60 fps. This lets the user produce creative and expressive videos using techniques such as overcranking for a slow-motion effect and undercranking for a quick-motion effect.

Professional Interfaces for Smooth System Operation

The HC-X1 is equipped with two channel XLR audio inputs with switchable +48V phantom power supply/MIC/LINE and manual volume. It records high-quality sound in two channels using either a 16-bit linear PCM system (MOV/MP4) or Dolby Digital system (AVCHD). When mounted with the wireless module (AJ-WM50/AJ-WM30, sold separately),* an iPad installed with the AG ROP can be used for wireless remote control of camera settings, lens control and others.

The HC-X1 also offers expandability for users in commercial video production, such as the wired remote terminal, OSD level meter, 1-kHz test tone output and headphone output (3.5-mm-diameter stereo mini jack).

Double SD Card Slot and UHD/FHD Dual Codec Recording

Two SD memory card slots are provided. The recording media switches automatically and seamlessly from Slot 1 to Slot 2. By changing a full SD card with a new SD card, images can be recorded continuously for many hours.

Unlimited* Relay Recording: Data is recorded continuously by automatically switching the recording SD card from Slot 1 to Slot 2. Diary of a Yak Shaver - Skill Building http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/20020/diary-of-a-yak-shaver-skill-building Fri, 06 Jul 2018 06:05:02 +0000 andyharris 20020@/talks/discussions The reality of an independent film maker is -- 'it's always harder than it looks'!

How many times do we watch a scene and think - they're lazy - I can do that, it's just package/tool/software/technique.

I find myself thinking the same thing, then I try to get the same results (of course with a lot less resources). Then I find this stuff is hard!

It's not the same as photography, where getting professional results is so much easier. With video it's a case of the weakest link is the one that stands out most. For example you get a great chroma key and you're really proud of the blend on the hair line - then you notice that yellow logo has become a brown logo.

I thought I'd use this post to document some the processes that I'm going through in order to build skills, sometimes a video on PV just unlocks an idea - other times it's a five hundred hour journey. This is where Yak shaving comes in, you set out to do a specific thing, but along the way you end up going down so many sub-tasks that one of them is bound to be shaving a yak.

I'll start with Camera Tracking. So far I've put about 20 hours in, including grabbing various clips to experiment on. Of course it's not just the tracking but the integration of the new objects afterwards.

Anyway, here's the very first attempt:

It's 12 seconds and it's rubbish, but it's enough for me to learn about:

  • setting up the tracking points
  • what a point cloud is and why some points are pointless
  • setting the camera parameters to give the tracker a lock onto the physical measurements
  • setting up and moving the ground plane
  • making the ground plane invisible (and later making just the shadow of the object visible)
  • adding an object in the 3D space
  • solving, re-solving (*N) and exporting the rigs

But perhaps mostly, so far it has taught me that long clips are a double extra triple piggy to track.

Opinions on Camera Sliders that have a parallax panning feature and cost less than $500? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15590/opinions-on-camera-sliders-that-have-a-parallax-panning-feature-and-cost-less-than-500 Fri, 26 Aug 2016 23:14:57 +0000 CFreak 15590@/talks/discussions I am prepping for a shoot in 2 weeks. I am looking for PVer's opinions on the various parallax systems for sliders that are (or used to be) available.

Since I don't have an existing slider, I could either go with an all-in-one unit or an add on unit. The cheap add-on units from Neweer have mostly disappeared off eBay and Amazon. If anyone has one for sale, let me know, I could buy @aksels slider in the market place and add it on!

Ideally I am looking for something I can get in 2 weeks time, ca. 120cm long, quiet for sound recording, smooth (roller bearings are best?) can utilize a 2nd tripod for stability, and that works reasonably well for medium and close shots of an interviewee). At this budget level, I don't expect perfection, but, want to strive for it as always :-) .

Can one take noisy bearings apart and try to re-grease them, if loud?

Are there any DIY's you could recommend for this parallax add-on? Here's a complicated design DIY:

-I don't have that much time, lol.

And I won't list the one-man-band design from Redrock due to $$$.

Have I missed any others?

I am sure Kessler got all the rip-off designs off the market or these things didn't really work that well -and that's why there are so few around today…?

Your thoughts please!

This Stereo camera provides two synchronized sensor frame data interleaved side by side to the host machine over USB 3.0 interface.

Guaranteed synchronous firing of both cameras An internal IMU so you can track your camera’s movements through space Guaranteed 60 fps in its WVGA stream – if you’re more interested in frame rate than resolution (like I am) this is a nice plus It’s pre-calibrated out of the box so your point clouds will be nice and pretty without the need for tuning

Fujifilm X-A10 camera http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16122/fujifilm-x-a10-camera Thu, 01 Dec 2016 03:07:11 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 16122@/talks/discussions image

Available at: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1301737-REG/fujifilm_16534261_x_a10_mirrorless_digital_camera.html

PR

The X-A10 combines a 16.3 megapixel APS-C sensor with the image processing engine that achieves Fujifilm’s excellent photo quality. Sharp FUJINON lenses that boast ultimate image resolution, and the proprietary colour-reproduction technology, refined over more than 80 years, allows users to capture premium quality images in any shooting conditions. Fujifilm is particularly renowned for accurately reproducing skin tones, and the X-A10 is built with this advanced skin tone reproduction capability, allowing you to produce high-quality portraiture.

180-degree slide-and-tilt LCD with 100% visibility for facilitating “self-portraits”

The rear LCD employs the slide-and-tilt mechanism so that even when it is tilted by 180 degrees, the LCD is not blocked by the camera, allowing for 100% visibility. The grip is shaped to accommodate both normal shooting and self-portraits. When taking a self-portrait, you can focus and release the shutter by pressing the vertical command dial found directly below your index finger to minimize camera shake. Rotating the tilting LCD upward by 180 degrees activates the Eye Detection AF to automatically adjust the focus on the subject’s eyes. The X-A10 also features the Portrait Enhancer mode for natural and beautiful skin-tone reproduction.

Compact and lightweight camera body with retro design and intuitive operability

The compact and lightweight X-A10 sports a retro design. The use of two Command Dials means you only need a thumb to quickly adjust aperture, shutter speed and exposure settings. Frequently used functions such as white balance, continuous shooting and the self-timer can be assigned to standalone function buttons, eliminating the need to go through the Menu screens to change settings.

Inheriting FUJIFILM X-A2’s popular performance features

Its energy-efficient design means the X-A10 is capable of shooting approx. 410 frames on a single battery charge. When fitted with the standard zoom kit lens “XC16-50mmF3.5-5.6 OIS II,” the camera offers the class-leading minimum working distance of approx. 7cm from the front edge of the lens, allowing close-up macro photography.

Outstanding image quality, made possible by the newly-developed 16.3 megapixel image sensor

Fujifilm’s colour reproduction technology, nurtured through the development of photographic film, captures accurate, warm skin tones, clear blue skies and lush green foliage in tones exactly as you remember them.

The APS-C sensor delivers beautifully smooth bokeh effects for portraiture and macro shots when using a shallow depth of field.

The X-A10 offers a total of six Film Simulation modes, namely the true-to-life colours of PROVIA (standard), the vibrant tones and saturated colours of Velvia (vivid), the soft tones of ASTIA (soft), the documentary-style deep colours and soft shades of CLASSIC CHROME, as well as Monochrome and Sepia.

The normal sensitivity range covers ISO200 to ISO6400, while extended sensitivity settings of ISO12800 and even ISO25600 can be selected when you want to minimise camera shake. The X-A10 produces clear images with astonishingly low noise, even on low-light nightscapes and indoor shots where high ISOs are essential.

Advanced Filters help you easily produce creative effects. A total of ten Advanced Filters are available, including the new “Fisheye” and “Cross Screen” as well as Toy Camera, Miniature, Dynamic Tone, Pop Colour, Soft Focus, High Key, Low Key and Partial Colour.

The screen has a slide-and-tilt mechanism so when it is tilted 180 degrees into “selfie-mode”, it can slide out further to ensure the camera body doesn’t block the view.

The grip is shaped to accommodate both normal shooting and self-portraits alike. The final shape, based on ergonomic design, was decided through prototype testing involving hundreds of photographers

When taking a self-portrait, you can take photos by pressing the vertical command dial found directly below your index finger to minimise camera shake. The Self Timer function offers Smile Detection, that take photos automatically when the subject smiles, Buddy Timer which shoots when two people come close together, and Group Timer mode that automatically shoots when a specified number of people come into the frame.

Rotating the tilting LCD upward by 180 degrees activates the Eye Detection AF to automatically adjust the focus on the subject’s eyes.

The X-A10 features a Portrait Enhancer mode, which makes the human skin look smoother and brighter. Enjoy the beautiful skin tonality that only the X Series offers also when shooting selfies

The camera supports charging via USB for maximum convenience, especially while traveling.

Class-leading minimum working distance

When fitted with the standard lens “XC16-50mmF3.5-5.6 OIS II,” the X-A10 can focus on subjects as close as approximately 7cm from the front of the lens allowing you to explore the fantastic world of close-up macro photography.

Super Intelligent Flash

The built-in pop-up flash supports the Super Intelligent Flash system that accurately controls light output according to individual scenes. When shooting indoor portraits in low-light, small items or food, the flash system reduces highlight clipping to produce images exactly as your eyes see them. Natural colours and brightness are also achieved when shooting backlit scenes or photographing a person under intense sunlight that casts strong shadows on the face.

Full HD video recording

Press the dedicated Video Recording button on the rear to easily start recording full HD (1080/30p, 25p, 24p) video.

The Film Simulation function, popularly used for still images, can also be applied to video recording for a diverse range of creative effects, which can be combined with smooth bokeh, made possible with the APS-C sensor and FUJINON lenses to produce professional-looking, creative movies.

Turning on the electronic image stabilisation function delivers the five-axis image stabilisation that combines optical and electronic stabilisation, significantly reducing a variety of camera shakes that could occur during video recording. This function allows you to record high quality video with reduced camera shake while walking around with the camera in your hand.

Versatile shooting functions including the electronic shutter with the maximum speed of 1/32000 sec

When using the ultra-fast electronic shutter, even under clear skies or other bright conditions, you can use large aperture to achieve a shallow depth of field without over-exposing the image. You can capture a scene exactly as intended without having to use an ND filter.

As a result of answering the requests from many users, the X-A10 now features the Panorama and Time Lapse functions.

Other new functions include the interlocking of Metering and AF areas, support for the Adobe RGB colour space, and choice of different colours in Focus Peaking for assisting MF.

Wireless communication functionality enables remote shooting from smartphones and tablet devices

Install the free FUJIFILM Camera Remote app on your smartphone or tablet and use the Wireless Communication function to transfer photos and videos to your device with a simple one-touch operation. You can view and select photos and videos in your camera or on your smartphone and then easily import them to your device. You can even attach GPS location information, obtained by your smart device, to your images.

The Remote Shoot function lets you adjust exposure and other settings, focus and take photos from your smartphone or tablet device. With Remote Shooting, the app not only offers basic operations such as Touch AF and shutter speed adjustment, but also lets you adjust a variety of shooting settings or initiate video recording. It’s great for group photos, self-portraits and even wildlife photography where you might want to compose your shot from a distance.

Nebula Remote, making videos in your grasp http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15120/nebula-remote-making-videos-in-your-grasp Wed, 25 May 2016 00:08:07 +0000 Avril_Lovin 15120@/talks/discussions Nowadays, making video has been more and more popular in our life. As many documentary and short films show, not only the producer but also the audience require a higher quality of filmmaking. We notice that some of the large radial and complicated tracks are too cumbersome to address the needs of shooting. Emerge as the new trend: compact, lightweight and easy to use, stabilizers are brought.

Handheld 3-axis stabilizer is a revolutionary product to the film industry. It is so light-weighted and user-friendly to create more possibilities for photographers during filmmaking and at mean time providing smooth videos. However, designs of 3-axis stabilizer cannot address the very crucial part: the bounces caused by photographers’ step while making videos. To solve this problem, the cutting-edge Nebula 4200 5-axis stabilizer has arrived.

With two spring arms, Nebula 4200 can absorb any vibrations and bounces under payload acting on the vertical axis and with different spring tension, the two spring arms are also able to filter part of the vibrations on horizontal axis. They are just like the vehicle suspension system which isolates road noise, bumps, and vibrations. Nebula 4200 as the terminator of stabilizer presents you a most smooth experience under the severe environment of recording.

And here comes a brilliant accessory for Nebula 4200 to make it the most powerful combination: our new product, Nebula Remote. No more complicated operation to control both your gimbal and camera with Nebula Remote. It can be quickly installed on gimbal's handle without tools and can be simply used by thumb to control your gimbal accurately and intuitively. Only one key to stop or continue motor's working, convenient for balancing, fine-tuning and power saving. OLED screen clearly shows the current status, including modes of gimbal, current voltage, battery power, angle of pitch axis and yaw axis and other information. By using the memory function, now it’s free to capture shots that are difficult or impossible. Every design makes filmmaking smoother and easier.

Nebula Remote is compatible with Nebula 4200/4100/4000/5200/6000. The video below is Nebula REMOTE function introduction.

The video below is the method of Nebula REMOTE.

Hope these can help you to understand the product.
