Mosaic Engineering VAF-XTi filter for T2i, T3i, T4i (550D-650D)

Bought the Mosaic Engineering Anti-Aliasing filters for my 550D and 5d mkii, and am pretty pleased with breathing new life in the 550D. Doesn't remove all artifacts, but quite a lot. Also tested it on a Sigma 8-16mm. No vignetting on wide end, but focusing is no longer reliable according to markings on the lens - so must be done by eye. Stress test video below:

Canon's Picture Style Editor necessary for color grade?

I recently came upon this great short film shot with the Canon 550d, and I found the color grade just blew me away. I noticed that their was some film grain added, and some other work done, but I found something about the quality of the image to really stand out from a lot of other 550d footage. It was in fact the Picture Style Editor that Canon has which allows you to create a preset that does a color balance without affecting your skin tones. This was mentioned in the comments of the video (the 8th person down) as a main reason why the director doesn't work with a gh2, as their is no form of this for doing a proper color grade while maintaining the skin tones.

But could you not do the same grade in after effects with something like the Color Finesse tool? Or perhaps in CS6's speedgrade program (I have not used this yet)? It would seem quite compelling to me that panasonic does not have an option like this for their camera's as it does make a pretty big difference, but perhaps it is only because their is another work around that the director of this video did not know about? I'm curious to hear if anyone knows a solution to this problem, as I'd love to keep my skin tones intact for future shoots as I really do like the color grade of this video.

I've been to Berlin last weekend and this is what came out. Everything is shot handheld with a magic lantern(april 9th build) t2i and a nikkor 50mm f/1.8 + an unknown 35mm f/2.8 m42 lens. In case you should be interested in the music, it's by "SBTRKT"

Anyone has tested Magic Lantern on Canon 500d/ T1i? Many friends tell me that there's not a huge difference between 500d and 550d, except for high-iso performance (>6400, but for video, who cares?); while t2i was very popular , t1i (500d) was not used by videographers because of its lack of manual controls and only 20 fps mode; however, now using Magic Lantern you can get manual controls, 24/25 fsp, focus peaking, HDR.. I' ve noticed that these "old" cameras are very cheapy (you can get used t1i bodies for only 250 €, while canon t2i costs at least 450€ ;) anyone has tested Canon 500d video quality improvements with Magic Lantern?

Let It Rain - A Rainy Day Shoot

There was a hailstorm here last week. Luckily we had the camera with us at the right time. Our friends had a really good time playing in the rain, we tried to capture some of the enjoyable moments and thought of making it into a small music video. Also this is the first time we tried to pull off some ultra slow motion shots with our Canon 550D. Hope you all like it. Thanks

G3 and Canon 550d

Hi, I own a canon 550d and a lumix g3 and edit footage in Sony Vegas Studio 11 (HD Platinum). Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to use footage from both cameras in the same project - for example the lumix is interlaced and the canon isn't. Many thanks Stan
