Vegas Pro produced an HEVC HDR10 video playable on any HDR TV and playable on Windows 10 computers capable of HDR (I have a 10bit, HDR monitor).

Resolve creates an Avid 10bit 4K HDR video with the correct HDR10 metadata. It plays on no hardware of any kind in HDR and does not play in HDR using any software I know about, but the file is recognized by YouTube as HDR. Resolve has no HEVC or even H264 10bit render options!

For the exact same HDR10 4K video the Vegas-produced file size was 408Kb. The Resolve-produced HDR10 4K video from the same clips was 8.6GB. Yes almost 9 gigabytes versus half a megabyte! The Vegas Pro video took 25 minutes to render, the Resolve video 7 minutes (because the file is only lightly compressed).

I do not see much of a difference. The Resolve video is brighter (more DR) because I was able to use the scopes to max out the DR.

I think I understand the scopes (designed specifically for HDR) and the controls in Resolve. But I understand neither in Vegas in ACES for HDR, yet (I have mastered them outside ACES and in SDR).

These HDR10 videos were both made essentially only using the built in (ACES or ResolveCM) transforms from Slog2 to HDR10 for 1000nits screens with little tweaking by me, except for increasing the DR a bit in Resolve.

I'm posting here to promote my short horror film, called Insane Madness. It's a short film, inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and films like Evil Dead that I've helped co-write. The film plays with human mind, never knowing what's real and what's a dream. It's a period piece, set in the 80s, which we will shoot using time correct techniques in effects (all make up here) and visually. As such, the best way to do it is to shoot it on 16mm, especially as it's soon too late!

So my post here is to essentially spread the word, hoping both to get some donators (if you like the idea) and also hoping for people to share it, to spread the word. We've managed to raise $205 in the first 24 hours, plus we've got over 80 likes on our Facebook page in the same time (including Harold Skinner, gaffer for the majority of Fincher's movies). I just received my new Iscomorphot 16 mm 2x, which I recently won in an auction on ebay. I haven't received my lens clamp yet, so I haven't gotten to thoroughly test it, but by simply aiming my taking lens through the anamorphic it becomes clear that its focus ring has no immediately recognisable effect. I believe common practice is to set the taking lens to infinity and rack focus with the anamorphic, but the only option I seem to have here is to rack focus with the taking lens and just leave the anamorphic be (which did seem to work allright in my initial test, but I can't be sure). Since I can't test this out thoroughly without a clamp, I'd be happy if someone could jump in with some insight! Is this common for this particular lens, or have I wasted my money here?
