Hey guys just wanted to share an easy workflow I found for converting my raw .mts-footage to .mov-files with DNxHD 120 (very good editing codec from AVID - even my Netbook is capable of offline editing with this, for better quality use DNxHD 180 or else). This program: http://www.xmedia-recode.de/en/index.html can do batch conversion of video (and also audiofiles). It has a lot of settings for each different format it can convert to (I use MOV and then the VC3/DNxHD set. you can then decide which setting of the codec you want to use, e.g 1080 at 25p with a bitrate of 120 Mb/s -> DNxHD 120, which I highly recommend but you can convert to virtually any video format) If you don't already have it installed, download the AVID Codec pack: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/Avid-Codecs-LE-2-3-9

Compression not supported and other weird problems with .MTS files

I am working on a project of mine, which was shot with a hacked GH2 and a hacked 5dmkii. I did much of the editing a while back, but then i had to change computer; including a transition from windows 7 to windows 8.1; i started editing the project in PP & AE CC back on my old machine and all was fine. but recently - it seems like it happened with the big 2014 update (as i am obviously not the only one who has issues) - i am having trouble with my .MTS files from the GH2. I use them outside the stream folder structure as individual files. and i had the weird bug, where i had to rename folders to make my files work in Premiere after the update (as they suggest as a workaround in the official forums). But now, i am having problems with the MTS files outside of premiere too. I wanted to make proxy files out of some of them, or check them out with gspot. something is wrong with the compression format, the codec or something. i tried re-installing quicktime (i think to recall that the mts is a mpeg2 wrapper) with no luck. does anybody have an idea what it might be?

A partern shot a short film with my camera, once fill the cards I have copied the files to an external drive.

Today she tells me that when he was editing the Final Cut dont recognize the files and not allow you to import. I dont have idea who it could be, before I used FC and Premiere on Mac without problems. On my computer (Windows) I can see the files.

Any suggestions for the Final Cut to recognize them?

Problems viewing Full HD

Hi,

I am having problems viewing Full HD on my Macbook pro 2.4Ghz 4GB ram, 17 inch (1920 x 1200 ) and have installed OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

I use a hacked Gh1, and the story of how the problems occurred is as follows:

6 months ago everything worked fine, I was able to view the AVCHD (.mts files) with VLC player, and the conversion in FINAL CUT PRO 7 to Proress LT worked fine, and I was also able to see the exported Proress in QT player smoothly.

A day my the charger for the laptop stopped working, probably because of an unequal flow of electricity, and simultaneously the battery died.

After that event I have not been able to view Full HD anymore… The .MTS files opened but remained blocked after 2 seconds, and only the sound was heard. The Proress LT files could be seen in QT player but not smoothly. Very annoying.

I bought another charger so that I could use the laptop again, and now a big detective work started:

I made a Apple hardware test on the computer to cheek if it could be the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT that caused the problem, but according the test everything was working well.
I made a ram test, all in order
I tested the harddisk at western digital service center, and it is working fine
I reinstalled Snow Leopard with the same settings and programs as before the accident, and no change, still problems. I tried Lion and still the same.
I went to a mac repair shop that booted from an external harddisk and still the same problem with the files as on the osx installed on my own computer.
I made a trash preferences with preference manager and no change
And I will mention that I have tried with many different files, so it is not one corrupt file that is the problem.
I also experience problems in viewing the files that I have compressed via MPEG Streamclip or in Cmpressor, they often also docent run smoothly, problems that did not occur before.

Any suggestions?

windows platform: how to convert a MTS file without losseing any quality for editing.

i have my gh2 recorded some video clips. but i can not edit in premier pro cs3, as i cannot use pp cs5 so how could i convert the mts files without losing any quality of the file.

GH2 AVCHD Footage will not import into AVID MC 5

My GH2 is recording at the 44mbs hack and Avid will not accept it. Others say that their .mts files import fine but I recieve a "mpeg not supported" error when trying to import. AMA doesnt work either. If anyone knows of a converter that will transcode .mts to .mov at high bit rates please let me know. Thanks in advance.
