    Since November we’ve released a number of smaller update patches but the time has come for something big! Today we’ve kicked things into gear with the latest installment, HitFilm Pro 7.0.

    We wanted to make the whole process of adding and adjusting effects more intuitive and efficient. Fiddling with the properties of effects can be time consuming but now we’ve added intuitive graphical widget controls to 40 of the awesome effects that come with HitFilm Pro including the Puppet Tool, a number of the Behaviour Effects, Light Flares and Warp effects just to name a few; allowing you to easily drag, move and adjust certain properties directly in the Viewer. All these effects can now be adjusted directly in the viewer without the need to manually tweak the numbers in the effect’s control panel.

    With the new release schedule giving you the latest and greatest features as soon as they’re ready, we have made it it easier for HitFilm users to be as creative as possible. We want to see you all making great things without the need to wait around for a yearly release. Even better – these cool viewer controls will be added to even more of our plugins over time, so you can be sure that your workflow will always be getting quicker.

    • All animation tools are now accessible in the Editor timeline making it almost as powerful as the compositor when are doing 2D work (does not do 3D).
    • A large number of animation tools and additional functions have now been added to the Composite Shot interface.
    • A new Audio Hard Limiter effect has been added to make more even audio.
    • Text can be created on the Editor timeline via the text effect.
    • The ability to re-trim a clip after adding it to the timeline has been implemented.
    • Geometry Effects (Extrude, Bevel & Rotate) have been added to text layers providing amazing titling options.
    • Behavior Effects have been added, allowing one layer to be attracted towards, repel away, accelerate, move down the screen as if falling under gravity, slow down, throw towards or follow another layer. They allow layers to move using simple physics equations.
    • Added an environment map to text layers allowing them to receive specular and diffuse reflections from an environment map.
    • A Quick PiP effect has been added to quickly position one clip inside another with different scales and position relative to the layer (e.g. top left, bottom right etc)
    • A vertical video adjustment plugin has been added, using the original blurred version of the video to fill the horizontal space not occupied by a portrait video.
    • It is now possible to import ProRes video and CineForm MOV on PC.
    • A custom MOV writer has been created for PC users to export Cineform video and PCM audio.
    • A feature has been added to allow users to remove, copy and paste attributes to/from a group of clips at the same time if needed.
    • A 360° video viewer panel has been added which allows users to view the 360° video in its original state as well as the adjusted version so that VFX can be added.
    • Over 10 new 360° video effects have now been added.
    • Text layers now support Asian characters allowing users to easily type and render in a number of additional languages.

    Only briefly installed and checked last version. They make very good progress to general NLE and I hope next update will add features you need.

    Thanks. Added to calendar. Have you tried Hitfilm ? I might move my projects over - using AE for grading and for Neat Video and pre-chromakey sharpen. but Hitfilm for all the greenscreening and 3d projects. Wish they add scene detect :-( Have to manually split my scenes.

    thanks @maxr the lazy table is clarifying. This seems to be an excelent choice for free software, probably better than Kdenlive on Linux. Wondering if the Express version has a tool to sync separate audio as Kdenlive does.

    The Express is a full flagged app, with proper export options: h264, QT 444, and (slow) png.
    Uncompressed QT is 8bit only and PCM only option is 16bits depth. I tried the pro version but the only thing I recall is that the effects had a nicer UI and not slider only. Case U want those more fancy things, you'ld purchase somethin' like the Starter pack (10$) with 3D extrusion,Turn flat, Color correction wheels, Split screen masking, etc.
    All and all, a powerful compositing and editing program for FREE =)
