Another field test
For 4K shooters, one potential concern is that the Nikon D7500 applies a 1.5x focal length crop, presumably as it cannot clock sufficient data off the full sensor width quickly enough to shoot without a crop. (You can see this in my sample videos, which were shot from the same locations and at the same focal lengths for both Full HD and 4K clips.)
What this means is that shooting wide-angle 4K video on the Nikon D7500 will prove challenging, as you will face an additional 1.5x crop on top of the 1.5x crop caused by the use of a DX-format image sensor instead of a full-frame one. And even for non-4K movies, you can also find yourself facing an additional crop, depending upon your camera setup. That's because the D7500 pairs any lens-based image stabilization with an electronic stabilization system, and this too will cause a crop, although the function (and the crop which it causes) can be disabled through the menu system.

Review
The D7500 provides some of the exposure controls missing from the D5600, along with 4K video and also throws in the in-camera effects modes and scene pre-sets from the lower-priced camera. Its slightly slimmer and lighter body includes a deeper, more comfortable hand grip, which should suit the majority of potential users.

Review
Video quality with the D7500 is adequate, but it could be a little better. This camera is able to record at a 4K video resolution, which is nice, but you have to figure in a 1.5x crop, which limits your options a bit. There's no problems with crop when shooting in HD resolution.
The video quality is good when the subjects aren't moving a lot, but the camera's autofocus mechanism slows down a bit in Live View mode, meaning you may have a few segments of your video stream that blur slightly while the D7500 tries to regain the focal point.
That isn't to say video quality is bad -- it works adequately in many situations -- but if you're looking for an interchangeable lens camera that excels for video, there are better options on the market

I just picked a refurb for $600 through Adorama. Only 2100 shutter actuations. Images show far less noise and better overall IQ than the D7100. I'm very satisfied with the upgrade. Looking forward to playing with the 4K video as well. It features the exact same sensor as the highly touted D500.
