What are some improvements over Mk1?
Mostly the addition of a "II" at the end. :P
I'd hope that they the new one is sharper than the MK1. Gotta' wait for some samples to start floating around for review to find out.
Looks longer.... I love the mk1
I'm ok with mk1 as well and I don't see anything new with this one.
It is usually improved optics, better coatings, slightly better OIS and slightly better AF.
In addition to the new EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR, Canon is also introducing two EF-Series L-series lenses as well as a variety of EOS accessories. Review
This lens doesn't have perfect image quality, but the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Lens is one of the best general purpose lenses available. It has an extremely useful range of focal lengths in a very-well constructed body that is ready for professional-duty use. It is nicely sized and has a weight that will not quickly wear you down. Excellent image stabilization system will make a dramatic difference in some low light situations.

Buyers of this lens should be happy with the improvements to the AF and stabilization systems, both of which should make it easier to obtain sharp, correctly-focused shots in a wide variety of situations.

Ive been looking at a lens in this range for my a6500 and have somewhat concluded to go with a Nikon 24-120mm f4. I'll be using a focal reducer.
