CAMEO360 Smallest Dual Lens 360 4K Camera http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16694/cameo360-smallest-dual-lens-360-4k-camera Wed, 05 Apr 2017 04:42:52 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 16694@/talks/discussions image

Flick Labs Inc. offers early bird discounts on the ultimate life hack, the CAMEO360 - a pocket-size camera with easy to use one-button control to photograph your best moments with a free accompanying app that makes capturing, editing and sharing content simpler than ever before

Flick Labs Inc. has launched the world’s smallest dual lens 360° 4K active camera, the CAMEO360, on Kickstarter.

The CAMEO360 is a pocket-size camera that allows users to easily explore their creativity and tell their story through a different lens, providing users a trouble-free approach to social sharing and commercial connectivity.

The cutting-edge design of CAMEO360 and its new Flicksee app allows users to share within the community, eliminating the confusion sometimes caused by sharing on many platforms. The app connects CAMEO360 to the user's smartphone while shooting, so the smartphone screen serves as a live viewfinder.

Creator Roland Nguyen wanted to save sharers and content creators from the time-consuming task of shooting with multiple or bulky cameras and having to load and edit on multiple sites.

“There are many high-quality cameras, but many are expensive, bulky and very inconvenient to carry around,” Nguyen said. “There are also many social media channels available to us today that can be very time consuming when it comes to editing videos and managing multiple platforms. We embraced these two issues and created a versatile, high-quality pocket size camera with easy-to-use features – along with our own social media platform. This makes it easy for CAMEO360 users to create and share their creation in our community and other social media channels.”

Product Features for the CAMEO360 Camera include:

  • Live video preview on Smartphone Screen (smartphone becomes viewfinder for camera)
  • 4K / 24 FPS Video
  • 24 MP Photo
  • Wifi 5G + Bluetooth 4.0
  • Live Streaming
  • Advance Video Stabilization
  • Ready to View Auto video Stitching
  • Expandable Battery Input
  • Easy Upload and Sharing
  • Flicksee Social Media Community
  • Waterproof Case
  • Motion Time Lapse
  • VR + Camera Remote Enable
  • The iOS- and Android-ready simplicity of the Flicksee app make mobile sharing and monetizing nearly effortless.

Flicksee App features include:

  • A Community Sharing Platform
  • Dual Chat Capability
  • Easy Video Editing Tools
  • Personalized GIF System
  • SynCam Video Calling
  • Monetization/Transaction Capability
  • For more information about CAMEO360 and the Flicksee app, visit the Kickstarter Campaign Page.

Does anyone have this plugin lying around ? I would be curious enough to play with it as its free.

As 3D pioneers, we created an easy to use tool for 3D creative editing, known as OS 3D.

Using Final Cut Pro, this plugin was designed to simplify the process of preparing and editing with 3D files.

Here's why we did it. Our post production facilities manage a large amount of S3D rushes and have tried a number of approaches in dealing and managing files in a user friendly manner. OS 3D provides users with a intuitive way of working in 3D, be it with discrete left and right eye files or side by side, it allows you to make stereoscopic corrections and decisions during the editorial process. This plugin has been made available to not only help our Lab team, but you as well. It's simple.

We've been offering OS 3D as a free download, including a comprehensive manual, since November 2011.

BMD Pocket Cinema Camera Stereoscopic Collaboration http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10902/bmd-pocket-cinema-camera-stereoscopic-collaboration Mon, 28 Jul 2014 06:34:39 +0000 _gl 10902@/talks/discussions After the success of our old Panny GH Collaboration, let's see if we can sync two BMD Pocket Cinema Camera (BMPCC) for stereoscopic 3D. I've got two on backorder (ETA 2 weeks), so I'll be able to run sync tests. If you're interested in shooting quality 3D on the Pocket or have one to try stuff on, join in!

The Pocket is only $500 USD / £390 UKP this summer (very limited availability, buy now!) .

Frame Sync is the big problem:

Syncing two cams for 3D cannot be done in post - they need to be synced at the pixel level, ie. each camera should begin each frame at exactly the same time. In other words, this is a fractional-frame problem; but you can only correct whole frames in post (not counting pixel interpolators like Twixtor which can cause unacceptable artifacts in 3D).

Pro cameras are synced with 'Genlock' - basically a connection between the two cameras that tightly synchronises frame capture. Without this, the cameras have a random gap between frame starts, anywhere up to 1/2 frame. So if you shoot 24p, the cameras will be randomly out up to 1/48th of a second, and you have no way to predict what that error will be at any given time. In 3D this is catastrophic, at least if there is any significant motion in the frame. The delay pushes moving objects forwards or backwards in 3D, and can also cause a weird shimmering effect. And forget high motion which looks awful.

Solutions:

1) hardware mod: do true genlocking by linking the cameras' capture timers or master clocks somehow at the circuit board level). This is perfect, but tricky/risky and requires skill and experience.

2) Simul-power workaround (this is what we use on the Panny GHs, and works on many others): you power-up both cameras at exactly the same time (usually with external power and a dual-switch or a custom circuit). Many cameras synchronize their frame capture from a global running clock, which is initialised at boot and never changes. So it doesn't actually matter when you trigger record - the first frame capture is always locked to that clock (ie. it waits for the next frame 'slot' before starting recording). By simul-powering the bodies, those clocks start in sync on both bodies and frames are synced.

we don't know if this works on the Pocket yet.

Downside: as no two digital clocks run at exactly the same speed, the bodies slowly drift out of sync. How fast depends on how closely matched the bodies are - people usually try to get consecutive serial nos., hoping that the eletronics components are likely from the same batch and so a close match. My badly matched (2 month apart) GH2's are good for about 4-5 mins before the drift becomes bad. Apparently some drift far less. So you have to keep power-cycling.

Problem: The Pocket only powers up when a button is pressed ('soft' power). It needs to power instantly as soon as external juice is on (one idea, permanently tape the power button down - does it work?).

3) LANC. The Pocket apparently responds to the LANC 'record' command (but not power cmds). If we're really lucky and this resets the frame capture timers (unlikely), it might be enough.

4) Firmware:

If the capture timers are NOT reset by capture start, BMD could add this to a firmware update. Then LANC-initiated record would always start in sync (subject to gradual drift) - much nicer than having to power-cycle all the time. This might be super-easy for BMD to do.

Of course some kind of true hardware sync option (maybe via the USB or LANC ports) would be best! BMD could probably do it if they wanted to - contact them if you want this: http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/uk/support (without demand it's unlikely to happen):

Exposure / Zoom sync:

Frame sync is the most important, but it would also be much nicer if exposure (iris, ISO, shutter-speed), focus etc settings could also be synchronised, ideally in real-time (one body acts as master, one as slave). Firmware or LANC command additions could do this.

With the pocket's small size, ultra-light and compact SBS (side-by-side) 3D rigs are possible. With 'body stacking', you can even get the lenses as close as around 70mm! With Speedboosters and fast lenses you can do lowlight and shoot wide (my target), and you have 10bit ProRes and 12bit RAW. Let's make it happen!

360 degree recording & projection http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2601/360-degree-recording-projection Sat, 17 Mar 2012 10:23:55 +0000 driftwood 2601@/talks/discussions A few years back, the troubled Japanese company, Olympus, showed off a 360-degree HD camera and projector system - the first 360-degree, 1080i camera and projection solution.

Utilizing a proprietary system based around an "axisymmetric free-form-surface lens," the camera could shoot video at horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 360-and-50-degrees, respectively; the images could then be projected in the same range by a separate unit.

That was back in 2007 and nothing has ever materialised from them.

I am trying to help a company involved in the events sector to seek and find a current solution where they could offer a walk-in 360 arena (tent or whatever) and immersive world for an audience to view a dramatic show utilising 360 degree projected switchable backgrounds.

Does anyone know of where this technology is going (is it doomed?) or of any other viable solutions that could be made and put together using today's technology?

Doubtless, you’ve seen it dozens of times: a still photograph within a video that somehow manages to appear three-dimensional. It displays depth, varying planes of motion, and perhaps even animated particles or lighting effects.

http://blog.visual.ly/the-2-5d-effect-how-to-animate-photos-and-create-a-parallax-shift/

This effect is often used in documentary films when they do not have film of an event, but only still-frames. Using the effect makes the image more interesting, and makes it seems like someone was there with a video camera and was panning back and forth.

  1. First up :- Panasonic HDC-Z10000

Best used indoors due to the reduced IA.

This can output frame-packed 1080p on HDMI 1.4 - this can be captured via Ultrastudio 3D and a MBP with Thunderbolt. More details on the entire rig here.

3D Stereo Synchronization http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8290/3d-stereo-synchronization Tue, 01 Oct 2013 08:13:20 +0000 3dreal 8290@/talks/discussions Break-trough in 3DStereo-Video-Synchronization with Stereodatamaker videosynchsensor and SDM186

We have now a very precise videosynch with stereodamaker-cameras(SDM). A cheap videosensor(by gentles/gent-stereo or digi-dat.de is used to calibrate the cams before shooting. Then cams must be on all the time, nothing changed(no replay or other than videosetting). synch takes 30-60 secs. sensor must be shielded against light. synch from 6 down to 1 are all perfect. It can be measured with camerasynch-test using crt-screen. or shooting cars crossing low shadow-lines.

If images are not synch the are apart by even frame numbers. Videosensor-cable should but need not be removed after calibration. I f not removed during shooting -start-sensor must be shielded. I have images on stereoforum how i attached the sensor and how its shielded. One can even start one camera now and second one later if they must be seperated shooting without cable for hyper. videos are not starting at the same time but can be synched precisely afterwards. the are apart by even amount of frames!

I would not use CMOS-cams. When cams are oriented differently (vertical to get smallest base, or one cam flipped on zbar) rolling-shutter will cause hugh problem. We also have now a videozoom-skript for zooming during shooting.

SDM186 is not yet official. I have my first(non zoomed) 3dstereovideo now online here:

  • www.3dmusic.ch or my channel
  • www.3dmedia.ch

Without Stereodatamaker-guru David Sykes and Werner Bloos(digi-dat.de and german stereoforum.org) and the CHDK-community(SDM based upon CHDK)this all would not be possible.

Windows 7 bug eats memory in thumbnails of 3D MP4. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7781/windows-7-bug-eats-memory-in-thumbnails-of-3d-mp4.- Wed, 14 Aug 2013 13:08:06 +0000 David_Cole 7781@/talks/discussions I couldn't make stuff like this up. We're seeing this a LOT at the moment. On Win7 Ultimate 64-bit machines, the dllhost process continues to grow until it eats all available system memory. Here are the details:

The dllhost can eat up all memory till the system crashes. This could have several causes, one is a bug in the thumbnailsystem. If the deactivation of the thumbnailsystem can fix the memory leak, you know for sure. (One would probably have to reboot or kill the process to see any changes)

The update KB2670838 which also gets installed along with IE10 (!) has several side effects. One of them is the introduction of a memory leak when trying to generate a thumbnail for certain mp4 files, typically 3D Side by Side. Search for files which should have a thumbnail but have a standard icon (the current file causing the leak will also be unmoveable, undeleteable etc). The thumbnail cache plays a role in this too. If you have valid thumbnails for a file and install an update or codecs or would like to test this, there will be no error till the next time the thumbnail is actually created.

It is possible, that there are other causes for these problems as well and it is possible that not all systems are prone to that memory leak. Other side effects of the update point to a combo of intel and amd hardware.

Options for Portable 3d monitoring during production http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8370/options-for-portable-3d-monitoring-during-production Mon, 07 Oct 2013 22:47:01 +0000 zcream 8370@/talks/discussions There are expensive 3D monitors available. However, I am cheap. Hence, this thread is a list of somewhat cheaper options.

If you are using a dual camera setup - you need to sync the 2x HDMI or HD-SDI signals into a single HDMI 1.4a signal.

Options are Matrox mc-100 or AJA Hi5-3D ~ 500/- USD

The cheapest monitoring option is the Sony HMZ-T2 or Sony HMZ-T3 Don't get the T1 as its too bulky.

Hi5-3D has an anaglyph option that will allow use of a 2d monitor with the red-green glasses. The user manual lists the method for selecting anaglyph on pages 9 and 10: http://www.aja.com/pdf/support/manuals_conv/AJA_manual_Hi5-3D.pdf These go for about $500 USD and consume about 5 watts. It also supports full frame-pack as well as SxS and TxB squeezing output modes.

The most portable option for a native 1080p monitor seems to be TVLogic http://www.tvlogic.tv/Monitors/M_Spec.asp?sidx=49

There are a number of tablets and PMPs by Gadmei - but none of these offer an HDMI input.

If you know of a cheap-ish display, PMP (less than 1K) that offers 3d HDMI input (either single 1.4a HDMI or dual HDMI) do post about it.
