FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SONY PICTURES ENTERTAINMENT AND REALITY ONE PARTNER WITH VRX NETWORKS FOR MULTI-PICTURE VIRTUAL REALITY DEAL JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE AND HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3 VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCES MARK CONTINUED EXPANSION INTO LOCATION-BASED ENTERTAINMENT

October 10, 2017 – CULVER CITY, CA – Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR), Madison Wells Media's Reality One and VRX Networks today announced a multi-picture agreement to produce and distribute virtual reality experiences for select SPE films, expanding SPVR's in-home and location-based channels of distribution. The deal will commence with a fully immersive and dynamic virtual reality experience based on SPE's upcoming movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and will be followed by one for Sony Pictures Animation's Hotel Transylvania 3 in 2018.

To coincide with the December 2017 film release, audiences will experience what it is like to enter a magical, fully interactive 3D jungle in Jumanji: The VR Adventure. In the VR experience, fans control their favorite movie characters as they build a team and set out to lift the curse of Jumanji while outwitting evil henchmen and evading dangerous wildlife. Jumanji: The VR Adventure will be available at VRX Networks virtual reality kiosks in movie theaters and shopping malls. The virtual reality experience will debut at 50 locations across the United States and UK, with plans to expand to South America, Asia and Australia in advance of the Jumanji motion picture release. "When it comes to VR, we've found that, in addition to great in-home experiences, there's a real opportunity for location-based entertainment. VRX Networks is a great partner for us to broaden out our distribution on this channel," said Jake Zim, senior vice president, virtual reality, Sony Pictures Entertainment. "Our goal at SPVR is to develop the business of virtual reality. This partnership represents another way to monetize our content while offering audiences an exciting way to dive into our movie worlds." "We're very excited to expand our relationship with the SPVR team. At VRX, we're dedicated to bringing high quality VR experiences to global audiences. Our strategy allows us to scale rapidly into cinemas, malls and other high traffic venues to reach large audiences and extend the movie going experience. SPVR has been incredibly supportive and dedicated to the growth of the VR industry and Jumanji: The VR Adventure will be another great spectacle for our global audiences to experience the wonder and awe that VR offers," said Nicholas Cooper, chief creative officer, VRX Networks.

"Since we first began working with the SPVR team last year, we have seen how powerful their IP has been in attracting fans to our immersive content," said Reality One co-founders Gigi Pritzker and Clint Kisker. "We are excited to work with VRX Networks to help scale how we can bring these projects to the masses."

This partnership is the latest in a series of deals to produce fully immersive content based on SPE's unique intellectual property. In 2016, SVPR announced their partnership with Reality One to develop VR experiences based off SPE's slate of motion pictures and franchises leading with the release of Passengers: Awakening VR Experience. SPVR also teamed up with THE VOID in 2016 to launch Ghostbusters: Dimension in which fans got to battle against supernatural foes. In 2017, SPVR released Can You Walk The Walk through IMAX VR locations. In June, the studio unveiled Spider-Man: Homecoming VR, a multi-platform VR experience in which players don the superhero's costume and test their web-slinging skills.

Sony Pictures Virtual Reality is joined by longtime partner Reality One in co-producing these new VR experiences, which will be available at VR locations worldwide as well as in-home on PlayStation© VR, Steam, Viveport and the Oculus Store.

Nokia announced plans to sharpen the focus of Nokia Technologies on digital health, and accelerate growth in that market, while optimizing investments in virtual reality (VR). Nokia Technologies will also focus on growing brand and technology licensing while leaving its successful patent licensing business untouched.

The shift deepens Nokia's commitment to fully leverage its digital health portfolio acquired through the purchase of Withings in 2016. Through a more focused, more agile digital health business, Nokia aims to have larger impact with consumers and the medical community.

In digital media, the slower-than-expected development of the VR market means that Nokia Technologies plans to reduce investments and focus more on technology licensing opportunities. The unit aims to halt development of further versions of the OZO VR camera and hardware, while maintaining commitments to existing customers.

The potential reductions are expected to affect up to 310 of the roughly 1090 employees in Nokia Technologies, mainly in Finland, the US and the UK. To start the process, Nokia today has invited employee representatives of Nokia Technologies in Finland to cooperation negotiations.

"Nokia Technologies is at a point where, with the right focus and investments, we can meaningfully grow our footprint in the digital health market, and we must seize that opportunity," said Gregory Lee, president of Nokia Technologies. "While necessary, the changes will also affect our employees, and as a responsible company we are committed to providing the needed support to those affected."

Yi HALO, 3rd Yi VR camera http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16800/yi-halo-3rd-yi-vr-camera Tue, 25 Apr 2017 05:51:40 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 16800@/talks/discussions image

YI Technology and Google Unveil YI HALO at NAB 2017

The Most Advanced Stereoscopic, 360-Degree, Virtual Reality Jump Camera For Professional Creators And Filmmakers, Now Available For Pre-Orders

LAS VEGAS -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- YI Technology, the leading, international provider of advanced, intelligent imaging technologies, today unveiled YI HALO, a next generation virtual reality (VR) camera built with Google's Jump technology. YI HALO meets even professional VR creators’ and filmmakers’ most challenging demands. By combining the most advanced capture technology and stitching with ease and versatility, creators can see everything, go anywhere, and create vibrant, immersive VR stories and experiences with confidence.

“Virtual reality provides incredible new opportunities for creators,” said Sean Da, CEO of YI Technology, “but it also poses a whole new level of challenges. To truly meet the promise of VR, the image quality, capture and stitching needs to match the immersive experience. To be truly active, you have to be able to shoot when and however you want, from many points of view, and without worrying about losing power; and you have to know it will just work, in your control, now and in the future. That is why we spent so many personal hours researching, perfecting and stress-testing the YI HALO. And why we are so excited to see what today’s amazing creators will do with what is now the most advanced VR system out there.”

"We announced Jump in 2015 to make high quality VR video easier to create; streamlining capture, post production, and playback processes," said Amit Singh, VP of Business for Google VR. "Since then, Jump has helped produce immersive, compelling work, and we're excited to see what's possible using YI's next generation cameras."

YI HALO is the highest fidelity 360-degree capture solution for maximum stereo effect, fidelity and immersion. It consists of 17 camera units including the Jump platform’s only up-view camera unit, allowing users to experience a scene in every direction without missing a thing. Built by the same engineers who created the acclaimed YI 4K and 4K+ action cameras, the YI HALO’s mechanical structure, hardware, firmware and software have been thoughtfully designed to deliver the highest level of imaging technology. Leveraging industrial design, electrical, firmware and optical engineering yielded a product that generates high quality 8K x 8K, 360º stereoscopic VR video at 30 frames per second, or 5.8K x 5.8K, 360º stereoscopic VR video at 60 frames per second.

YI HALO is the most versatile 360-degree capture solution allowing demanding creators to shoot easier, longer and from anywhere. It has a 100-minute battery life, pulling only 50 watts, but also works with AC and alternative power sources. It weighs less than seven and a half pounds, including the battery, and is easy to mount and easily portable. It comes with clear, simple Android, WiFi remote controls, previewing and automated Jump stitching.

Finally, YI HALO is a complete solution for 360-degree capture; it has been designed and tested to be durable, reliable and future-proof, undergoing over 100,000 hours of stress tests. It features a state-of-the-art, thermal design and a complete built-in screen system for easy control of camera settings and functions. It is a modular camera rig making it easy to upgrade or add new components as they become available in the future. Finally, users will be covered by a customer support package and one-click firmware upgrades based on direct user feedback.

YI HALO is only one of YI’s advanced 360-degree video solutions unveiled today at NAB 2017. The company also announced today the consumer-grade YI 360 VR camera, the only camera to offer 360-degree capture up to 5.7k and automatically video/picture stitching in the device.

See and experience YI’s two new products, YI HALO and YI 360 VR, at NAB 2017 in the Virtual & Augmented Reality Pavilion, Booth N1121VR. Or go to http://www.yitechnology.com/yi-halo-vr-camera to find out more and sign up for pre-order.

Additionally, the company will also present products at the Sixteenth Annual Las Vegas SuperMeet on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm in the Brasila Ballroom at the Rio Hotel.

Ricoh Theta SC - new 360 camera http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15874/ricoh-theta-sc-new-360-camera Wed, 12 Oct 2016 17:45:09 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 15874@/talks/discussions image

Specs:

Ricoh Imaging Americas Corp. today announced it has added a full-featured, affordably-priced mid-range model to its pioneering line of Theta 360-degree spherical imaging cameras. Merging advanced imaging capabilities with simplified operation, the new Ricoh Theta SC is designed to appeal to the growing numbers of consumers interested in capturing and sharing 360-degree photos and videos.

Market demand for cameras that capture immersive imagery is on the rise, and experts predict that devices required for augmented- and virtual-reality experiences—such as 360-degree cameras and VR headsets—will be at the top of consumers’ holiday 2016 gift lists.

Ricoh offers the industry’s most extensive line of spherical imaging cameras, known for their high image quality, sleek design and ease of use. First introduced in 2013, Theta cameras are unique in their ability to allow consumers to record fully spherical images that show the entirety of a scene in photos or videos. The pocket-sized Theta SC is the fourth-generation Theta, joining the award-winning, top-of-the-line Theta S and entry-level Theta m15 series cameras.

Like its predecessors, the Theta SC boasts a stylish and sleek design, lending itself to quick and convenient operation. The camera can be handheld with one-button operation or placed on a flat surface or tripod to be remotely controlled by a smartphone and the newly updated Theta S app. It comes in a range of attractive colors including beige, blue, pink and white for a wide range of users.

The Theta SC delivers the same high level of image quality provided the Ricoh Theta S—with a high-performance CMOS image sensor and large-aperture dual lenses—in a more lightweight package. It captures 14-megapixel, high-resolution stills and records high-definition (HD) video clips up to five minutes in duration, in keeping with consumers’ interest in shooting and sharing short video clips. The resulting spherical images can be easily uploaded to the dedicated theta360.com website; posted and shared via Facebook, Google+, Google Maps and YouTube, as well as shared via Twitter and Tumblr.

With the introduction of the Theta SC, Ricoh is also unveiling an updated Theta S app for iOS and Android devices. The newly updated Theta app is designed to be even easier to use— making capturing, viewing, managing and sharing fully spherical imagery a snap.

“Our goal is that the Theta SC will introduce more people to 360-degree spherical imaging,” said Kaz Eguchi, president, Ricoh Imaging Americas Corp. “With the growing popularity of immersive imagery, augmented and virtual reality, we wanted to produce a high-quality camera at an affordable price point that appeals to anyone who is interested in capturing and sharing the world around them in this new, exciting digital imaging format.”

Pricing and Availability

The Ricoh Theta SC is now at http://www.ricohimaging.com and retail outlets nationwide for a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $299.95 .

Lucid VR LucidCam 3D Camera http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/17231/lucid-vr-lucidcam-3d-camera Sat, 24 Jun 2017 08:55:25 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 17231@/talks/discussions

Santa Clara, CA – June 23, 2017— Lucid VR is officially kicking off the general availability of its simple-to-use, pocket-size 3D 180° VR camera, the LucidCam with a preview sale launch campaign starting June 26th.

This launch campaign aims at driving more consumer awareness around 180° VR to tap into content creation in a VR market which is longing for content. Lucid CEO Han Jin’s vision--to create a technology that brings the world closer together through a true 3D 180° VR camera, the LucidCam--started with a crowdfunding campaign two years ago and has now come to reality.

“It’s been an incredible journey to bring this product to life while the industry was chasing 360° VR. 180° VR is much more appealing for the masses, as its simplicity and user experience allows more users to easily capture VR content. With Google’s announcement one of the major players in VR is realizing the benefits of 180° VR video for consumers,” said Jin. “LucidCam creates images and videos which let you for the first time see the world through someone else’s eyes as if you were really there. I want everyone to have such incredible superpowers.”

Lucid kicks off the one-month preview sale campaign starting Monday, June 26th, where the camera will be discounted 15 percent off the retail price and delivered August 9, just two weeks after the campaign closes July 26.

LucidCam makes virtual reality content creation and livestreaming in 3D 180° VR at very high resolutions easy, with a simple plug-n-play process flow and being most compatible with Apple devices. Consumers can create their own 3D 180° VR without a computer or any additional processing requirements, making LucidCam an all-mobile experience for capturing, viewing, sharing and delivering immersive content either through Facebook or the new YouTube. With two lenses like your eyes and two microphones like your ears, LucidCam recreates a first-person experience, allowing people to feel like they are seeing the world through someone else’s eyes.

Exceeding the original specifications of the LucidCam crowdfunding campaign, the engineers at Lucid VR enhanced it and developed a robust 4K 3D 180° VR camera with on-the-go VR content processing of pictures and videos, plus livestreaming capabilities. With the addition of Lucid’s viewing clip or phone case, you can create and view your own 3D 180° VR anywhere with a click of a button.

The special LucidCam preview sale runs begins June 26, and includes a 15 percent discount off the retail price, with delivery as early as two weeks after the promotion ends. Retail availability of LucidCams begins in August, with thousands of units coming into the online and offline sales channels. For more information about LucidCam or to purchase the device, visit http://www.lucidcam.com

It would appear that the best prosumer alternative is the Kodak 360 4K kit - two cameras shooting 4K. It is $899, and comes with an RF remote that starts and stops both cameras, free stitching software and the frame you need to shoot 360 with the two cameras. You set them to shoot at 2880x2880 (that is 4K if you do the math), and then the software synchs and rec-linearizes. It is small and light and can be set up in seconds.

Here is what a 360 video from the cameras looks like so you can see the quality:

Be sure to select 4K for viewing (regardless of what you are viewing on).
