Shooting in bad weather; cold, rain, snow. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/919/shooting-in-bad-weather-cold-rain-snow. Sun, 11 Sep 2011 05:50:34 +0000 otcx 919@/talks/discussions
•Use a dark colored umbrella. If you are using an umbrella while shooting (even though I personally find it cumbersome), use a dark one so that stray light doesn't spoil your shot.

•On the other hand... If you own a light colored umbrella, you could use that to your advantage by trying to light up the rain drops and come home with some truly amazing shots.

•Get creative with color. If you've observed carefully, you'll see that colors pop out during rain, so use them to your advantage! Also keep in mind that black & white photos can look fabulous under these conditions.

•Pay attention to different surfaces. Surfaces like glass, plastic, wood and oil behave very differently to light under rain. Watch out for them, you could have some nice abstract shots.

Learn by watching http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3906/learn-by-watching Sun, 15 Jul 2012 06:39:22 +0000 matthere 3906@/talks/discussions With the wealth of member's knowledge on the Personal-View forum it might be a nice idea for people to share some knowledge on films, shows, directors, cinematographers, editors, documentaries and content that they have learned from. There are huge opportunities to develop bigger brains and skills by watching content provided by Netflicks, Lovefilm, Mubi and similar providers, but a big hurdle, particulally for beginners in movie making is to find good recommendations.

Your recommendation might just be for a great film that you think others would appreciate in which case a short description of the film followed by a subjective score would be helpful to others (eg. enjoyment 8.5/10)

You may feel that the film helped you in specific ways, or you feel compelled to break down your own opinion into other categories that you feel are significant (eg. cinematography/editing/story/innovation/technical expertise/humor/ use of CGI/etc...)

Whilst developing a list of helpful resources for all members to use for their own benefits, there are obviously going to be differences of opinion expressed. Rather than trying to undermine somebody elses subjective score on a particular resource it would benifit everyone if you just add your own opinion next to your own entry, this will allow others to develop an understanding of everyone's "Personal-View". Leading to opinions that we will value based on who's subjective opinion we value, rather than the thread ending up as a flame war on this very subjective subject.

Thank you :)

HDR Video http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/242/hdr-video Thu, 16 Jun 2011 17:08:42 +0000 Toronto 242@/talks/discussions
This example seems to be what the near future of hdr video will be like, a non typical hdr look, but still having an slight hdr type of gain in dynamic range that is subtle enough to still look natural. It is from an epic hdrx camera.

http://blog.localheropost.com/main/2011/6/3/red-epic-hdrx-test-examples.html

"The Epic sensor without HDRx is already in the 11 to 13 stop range, depending on who you ask. With HDRx, however, you get an entirely separate exposure, 2 to 6 stops darker than your original capture...."

Pretty much every aspect of the video was very well done, the clarity, color, sharpness, lighting, grading, etc. Looks amazing on a 4K TV.

Curious if anyone knows what cameras and lenses they used for the Season 2 premiere.

Need help on a serious problem during video shooting http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14721/need-help-on-a-serious-problem-during-video-shooting Sat, 05 Mar 2016 19:08:12 +0000 monks19 14721@/talks/discussions Hello people. I recently noticed a filming problem that I had during a shooting of a dance show. I don't know if the lens was badly focused (I checked it earlyer, seemed to be ok and in focus on the cam's screen), or if the adapter was badly adjusted (it's a RJ adapter, Nikon to M4/3) or if the aperture was way too opened (at f2.8). The lens used (on all 3 cams) was a Sigma 28-70mm (Nikon mount) and the cameras were 2 Gh2 and a G6. Any ideas on what went wrong and how I can avoid this kind of troubles next time ? Thanks to answer. PS: here's a video sample:
