I just launched a campaign for a short film I'll be working on – shot in Dallas, on the GH2. Feel free to check out the campaign video and let me know what you think. It's called "The Deal", and I'm looking forward to shooting it – in not just that it has good messages about respecting women and addressing greed, but in that it will have especially good production quality – with special focus on Sound as well (for an independent, you know what I mean).

I appreciate any help I can get, even just a quick forward or mention would be great. Thanks!

I know it's short, but for school i had to make a film from 1 minute. Inspired and based on een film by "side films" (really talented filmmakers!!)

And i wanted to test canis majoris, so for me it was a win-win :) Now, first of all, i did use log and transfer in fcp. I've not used 5DToRGB. Because, i didn't know, till a few minutes ago. Next time i will test 5DToRGB. (is it so much better?)

so i used: GH2 with canis majoris night patch with nokton 25mm f0,95 lens

other shortfilm (8 minutes)

with Sedna Q20 patch

Wanted to share this time lapse video I shot exclusively on the GH2 in my home town of Hong Kong. It's become my spare camera after one year of heavy usage, but it's still alive and kicking! Mainly shot on 14-42mm lens with circular polarizer. Powered with a generic DC coupler + Sony F battery adapter.

GoPro or 12-35mm F2.8 lens with GH3? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5193/gopro-or-12-35mm-f2.8-lens-with-gh3 Wed, 14 Nov 2012 08:38:35 +0000 mpgxsvcd 5193@/talks/discussions I have been shooting with my GH2 and GoPro Hero3 Black simultaneously for a few weeks now and I am getting the GH3 in two weeks. I bought the 35-100mm F2.8 lens last week and I wanted to get the 12-35mm F2.8 lens as well. However, I just couldn't afford both lenses.

Instead I decided to get the GoPro Hero 3 Black which shoots excellent 2.7K @ 30 FPS video and covers ultra wide angle(Something like 7mm-28mm Full Frame). I mount my GoPro on the Hotshoe of the GH2 and film simultaneously with both. Also the GoPro has a handy remote that I control with my left hand and then I control the GH2 with my right hand.

Here is a video that shows footage from both. NOTE: This was the first video I shot with the GoPro so I didn't know what its limitations were. It should be very obvious which shots were with the GoPro. However, I must say that the GoPro fared much better in outdoor shown below the first video.

The 2.7K @ 30 FPS mode is my favorite. However, the 1080p @ 60 FPS medium angle of view is very good as well. Can you tell what clips were taken with what camera and what resolution and frame rate they were?

Music Video, no crew, one work light, and still using CBrandin 66mb hack. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5162/music-video-no-crew-one-work-light-and-still-using-cbrandin-66mb-hack. Sun, 11 Nov 2012 06:21:09 +0000 DavidHall 5162@/talks/discussions I've posted all the music videos I've made for unsigned band Ball Of Mayhem here, so here is the latest one:

Again there was no budget at all, except the £12 it took to buy the blowtorch! And again no crew was used.

I shot this using the GH2 with the original CBrandin 66mb patch, which I have never deviated from.

Lenses were all bought from ebay, and are: canon FD 50mm 1.8, Sigma FD 24mm 2.8, and a cheap wide angle adapter that is unbranded. All lenses cost in the region of £20-£25.

Everything was shot handheld, except for one tilt down using a tripod, and the shot near the end where I used a dslr flycam. I don't have any fast wides, so I used the 24mm lens with screw on wide adapter on some small rails on the Flycam. This was very heavy, and a bitch to operate, so I think a fast wide from Panasonic is necessary to get this type of shot unless you have the cash for a better stabiliser with vest/arm.

All footage with the masked character was shot at 80% speed with variable movie mode. I experienced my first write speed error shooting the extreme close-ups of the mask, using a fujifilm 16gb class 10 card. The rest of my cards are cheap Transcend 16gb class 10s and I have never had a problem with them.

All filters and grading are presets in Magic Bullet, some shots have a little vignetting added, but nothing major.

All band footage was done in one take per setup at the performance location as we were only permitted a small amount of time to get things done. The footage of the masked character was filmed in a small garage that was dressed with some simple dust sheets, and shot in a couple of hours. No lighting was used except for one work light we used at the performance space. The garage had one bare bulb and the illumination from the projector.

Hope everyone enjoys the vid, and would be happy to answer any questions about it!

A Prewedding Film | A Pretty Cool Way To Keep A Memory http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5155/a-prewedding-film-a-pretty-cool-way-to-keep-a-memory Fri, 09 Nov 2012 23:26:19 +0000 pchristoph 5155@/talks/discussions
We make the occasional pre-wedding film for engaged couples who want to share a bit more of their story and personalities with their wedding guests. Usually a film like this will get played at the wedding of a reception on a big screen before the happy couple is announced and they walk into the room. When we screened the film with them they got really excited and wanted to post in online right away. So here it is. It was shot primarily with Pentax takumar glass and the 12mm from slr magic. While I like the 12mm wide angle it is a harder lens to cut in because it is higher contrast...I still like the less sharp/cinematic feel better than the Oly 12mm though. Glidecam shots on a 50mm macro tak. Some good fun and shot in about 4 hours over four locations on a cold clear October day. The gh2 cameras are brilliant for activating ones creativity in real time. I could never have been able to setup so quickly for shots, nor risk the variety of camera angles on the shotlist from rolling from a larger camera system over such a short period of time. I just gotta learn to color grade better. Anyways, cheers and good hunting all you creatives.

GH2 + 35-100mm + GoPro 3 Black does BMX Freestyle http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5125/gh2-35-100mm-gopro-3-black-does-bmx-freestyle Tue, 06 Nov 2012 11:11:23 +0000 mpgxsvcd 5125@/talks/discussions Here is a set of highlights from a local BMX competition that I filmed with my GH2 + 35-100mm F2.8 @ F2.8 and my new GoPro 3 Black mounted to the hot shoe. The clicking noise in some of the clips is the GH2 taking stills while the GoPro Recorded video.

I know the editing is poor in this video. I shot WAY TOO MANY things this weekend and just didn't have time to do the editing justice. Take it for what it is. Just a bunch of samples from both cameras.

I tried editing the colors on the first few clips but after that I just didn't have time. I shot in 720p 60 FPS and F2.8 for the GH2 shots(Can you tell which one those are?). And I shot at 720p @ 120 FPS Narrow angle non-Protune, 720p @ 120 FPS Wide angle Pro-tune, 1080p @ 60 FPS Medium Angle Pro-tune, and 2.7K @ 30 FPS Pro-tune for the Go-Pro 3.

Can you tell which clips are what resolution and frame rates for the GoPro? Hint, several of the clips having very bad aliasing in the fence in the background. That is eliminated by using a narrower field of view.

There is also a sample image below of what the GP3 looks like on the GH2 + 35-100mm.

The Last Drink - London 48 Hour Film Project Entry http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5104/the-last-drink-london-48-hour-film-project-entry Sun, 04 Nov 2012 18:54:46 +0000 sam_stickland 5104@/talks/discussions This was our entry into the London 48 Hour Film Project. A bit of a crazy weekend, especially as there was only me and one other person on our team who has any previous experience with film production, and we're only self-taught amateurs. So yeah, undeniably a lot of mistakes made and a lot of corners cut, but overall I quite like these events - it forces you to actually finish something, and it's quite nice to see something go from conception to the finished article in such a sort space of time.

We had to include cream, the line of dialogue "Let me tell you a secret", and the character Charlie Cipriani, a minor celebrity. Oh, and our genre was romance - it turns out that six guys and a crate of beer doesn't produce the most romantic script!

(Apologies for the bad macro-blocking in places, I'm really struggling to find out what's introducing that. The only renders I can create that don't have it are lossless! The lossless version held up very up on the cinema screen though)
