Winter (Inverno) from Vivald's Four Seasons with the original sonnets http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15353/winter-inverno-from-vivalds-four-seasons-with-the-original-sonnets Tue, 12 Jul 2016 17:41:50 +0000 DrDave 15353@/talks/discussions When Vivaldi published his Four Seasons concertos, he included sonnets which were inlaid into the original engraving. In a concert, even if the sonnets are included as printed text it is not quite the same experience as seeing the text accompany the music. To recreate the original experience, we have created a digital overlay for Vivaldi's sonnets: click the CC button to view the sonnet as the video plays, and use the gear icon to choose your preferred language.
This video highlights one of the ways in which YouTube features can be used for education.

Beyond The Mountains - swiss aerial http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15340/beyond-the-mountains-swiss-aerial Mon, 11 Jul 2016 07:12:18 +0000 Luc00 15340@/talks/discussions Hello

I would like to present you our new movie. We had just four days for filming in swiss on 9 different locations. It was pretty amazing going up to 3000 meters and start filming with a drone. Everything was shot with an DJI Inspire 1 RAW with the X5R camera. Filming with this system is pretty nice but backup all the footage after made us go crazy. DJI is using their own data partition on the SSD and you are unable to just copy&paste via Mac or Windows. You have to use "Cinelight" which needs up to 4 hours to backup 350gb of footage. No way to do backups on the way.

Well, making this movie was fun and a great experience. We hope you like it.

Best

This was in Massachusetts I used a hacked GH2 with 14-140 lens in 720p60. ISO was mostly 12,800. Wish I had a camera with better low light abilities. Could have used a faster lens but I didn't want the DOF to be too shallow plus it doesn't have a stabilizer.

The Aria Ombra mai Fu, from Handel's Opera Serse. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14911/the-aria-ombra-mai-fu-from-handels-opera-serse. Sat, 02 Apr 2016 14:19:48 +0000 DrDave 14911@/talks/discussions Countertenor Christopher Lowrey sings the aria Ombra mai fù, from Handel's opera Serse. 4K, Ultra HD video from the Voices of Music "Art of the Countertenor" concert, March, 2016.

Handel’s arias form one of the core repertories for singers of 18th-century music, owing not only to the quality of the compositions but also to the variety of affects and styles present in his operas, oratorios and sacred music. The aria “Ombra mai fù,” known also as “Handel’s Largo,” is one of his best-known works; somewhat surprisingly, it comes down to us through a circuitous path. The original version was composed by Cavalli in the mid-17th century, then “borrowed” by Bononcini for his 1694 production of the opera Serse, then substantially revised by Handel for his own version of Serse which premiered in London in April of 1738. Handel's version retains the overall texture, scoring and melodic shapes of the original, but Handel reworks the vocal line and creates more interplay between the singer and the violins.

Ombra mai fù di vegetabile, cara ed amabile, soave più. —Nicolò Minato Never was the shade from any plant more dear, more lovely, or so sweet.

In advance of this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, Indiewire sent out brief questionnaires to all of the filmmakers (you can read their full answers in our Meet the 2015 Tribeca Filmmakers Series). As part of the questionnaire, we asked which camera(s) they shot on.

Their responses showed a wide variety of camera used – everything from drones to cellphones to the Swedish Ikonoskop, which is a digital camera meant to emulate the 16mm film look.

My Gear Reviews http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15176/my-gear-reviews Sun, 05 Jun 2016 16:59:22 +0000 madmarkfilms 15176@/talks/discussions I'm new here, but I've done a couple videos in the last 15 years! I'm doing mostly short films and since a year, gear video reviews.

If you're interested, you can have a look at my work on gear video reviews here: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxnu1WwoCPfdwE2lQvNCNSJ3WvuW6fArX

Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/album/3828347

You can browse my profiles, I've also uploaded some short films that I made in the last years. Most of them (up to 2012) were made for a contest hosted on the now dead, hv20.com forum. I've done two short films for a contest on a facebook page, the first I shot never made it on time, but I finished it a couple months later. The last, a short film I won the first place, gave me a Kovacam Stabilizer as a prize. Not bad! I purchased the vest and arms to complete the kit, and eventually made my first video review!

Thanks for your time!
