The LUMIX G90 is a true hybrid camera, with equal importance given to its extensive video capability.

It can record unlimited 4K video (3840x2140) at 30p/25p (50Hz Area)/30p (60Hz) or 24p in addition to Full HD (1920x1080) at 60p/50p (50Hz Area), 60p (60Hz Area) with full-time AF. High Speed Video can also be utilised to record slow-motion video in Full HD at 120fps (1/4x), 90fps (1/3x) and 60fps (1/2x).

Real-time image output to an external monitor in 4:2:2 / 8-bit*1 via an optional micro HDMI cable is available, while V-Log L is pre-installed for wider dynamic range for colour rendering in post-production. Additionally, a 3.5mm microphone jack for high-quality audio recording is included, as well as a headphone socket.

The G90 features LUMIX’s well-known 4K Photo modes. Giving users the ability to extract fleeting moments at 30fps from a 4K video, it’s now even easier thanks to a new Auto Marking function which automatically detects frames with changes to the image. Sequence Composition has also been added for creating “stromotion” images by combining multiple images into one shot for a fun effect.

Update on NAB 2021

It’s hard to believe that it’s already September, which means NAB 2021 is right around the corner. As you prepare for the event, I want to provide an update on Panasonic’s plans for the show.

After careful consideration of several key factors impacting the show, including the current conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the decision not to attend the event in Las Vegas.

In place of participating in-person, we’re planning to meet and connect with our valued customers via our digital platforms where we look forward to sharing our exciting announcements. We are confident a digital experience will be effective, similar to events we’ve hosted over the last 18 months. We will be in touch with updates on event specifics over the next few weeks, but please reach out directly with any immediate questions.

We continue to appreciate your business and look forward to connecting outside of the show!

Thank you, Carter Hoskins Director, Professional Imaging

Zeiss ZX1 - Another FF camera, this time with Android inside http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/20542/zeiss-zx1-another-ff-camera-this-time-with-android-inside Thu, 27 Sep 2018 12:48:00 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 20542@/talks/discussions

First full-frame camera from ZEISS with first-class image quality and the familiar, intuitive image editing and connectivity of a smartphone.

image

OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 2018-09-27.

ZEISS ZX1 -- That is the name of the newly developed mirrorless full-frame camera from ZEISS that was presented today in Cologne, Germany. Thanks to the ZEISS lens and a sensor developed in-house at ZEISS, the camera delivers first-class image quality combined with an operational concept and user experience that make the photographer's jobs-to-be-done as intuitive as on a smartphone.

The ZEISS camera concept is just the first step to opening up a new world of possibilities for ambitious photographers -- from taking the shot to editing the image and sharing it on the web.

SHOOT. EDIT. SHARE. -- Harmonized hardware, software and optics for a seamless creative process

SHOOT: the ZEISS ZX1 features a newly designed, integrated ZEISS Distagon 35 mm f/2 T* lens with autofocus that has been perfectly matched to the 37.4 megapixel full-frame sensor developed in-house at ZEISS. The interplay between the lens and sensor ensures first-class picture quality with that typical ZEISS look.

EDIT: The ZEISS ZX1 enables photographers to professionally process RAW images directly on the camera thanks to fully integrated Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC. Moreover, the ZEISS ZX1's unique user interface supports the user's particular workflow without any interruption -- providing direct access to the most frequently used functions via a 4.3" multi-touch display.

SHARE: when the networked full-frame camera is connected, the user can upload selected images directly to the internet -- without the intermediate transfer to memory cards or other external devices.

512 GB of internal memory provide sufficient space for approximately 6,800 RAW files (DNG) or over 50,000 JPGs -- more than enough to handle photos, even during a longer trip, and giving the photographer the chance to let their creativity flow. Versatile connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB-C ensure that various peripherals can be connected. Over-the-air software updates keep the camera up to date without requiring a computer connection.

Designed with a passion for detail and a focus on the essentials

The design of the ZEISS ZX1 is characterized by its iconic shape with carefully crafted details. The overall form and reduction to just those elements that are absolutely necessary lay the foundation for an ergonomic camera and ensure easy handling. The symbiosis of hardware and software is exemplified by the newly defined user interface that utilizes the 4.3" multi-touch display. The slightly bent screen separates the live view from the control elements, making camera operation comfortable and straightforward.

"We know that we exploring new ways and initially addressing a special target group with the ZEISS ZX1. With our concept we are focusing on ambitious, professional creatives who want to produce their photographic experiences quickly and efficiently, and inspire as many people on the Internet as possible. This requires a streamlined workflow in addition to high-end features. This is exactly what the concept of the ZEISS ZX1 offers," explains Jörg Schmitz, Head of the Consumer Products business group at ZEISS.

ZEISS ZX1 available from early 2019

The ZEISS ZX1 will be available at selected dealers in early 2019. ZEISS will announce the recommended retail price at the start of the official market launch. Starting now, anyone interested in receiving information on exact availability can register at www.zeiss.com/zx1.

SIGMA fp Cinema Camera with CinemaDNG raw http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/22269/-sigma-fp-cinema-camera-with-cinemadng-raw Thu, 11 Jul 2019 08:10:44 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 22269@/talks/discussions

image

SIGMA Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of “SIGMA fp”, the world's smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless digital camera*. The SIGMA fp incorporates a 35mm full-frame Bayer sensor with 24.6 effective megapixels in a compact body, and boasts great versatility and scalability that allows mixing-and-matching of a variety of interchangeable lenses and accessories. It is a camera that is casual enough to take anywhere, anytime, and high-spec enough for serious still and cine shooting in the highest image quality, all in a robust and classy body.

Regardless of the differences in shooting scenes and styles or genre boundaries between stills and videos, this new camera is set to expand the freedom and possibilities in image shooting and art creation further than ever before. A “pocketable full-frame” camera: SIGMA fp, is now available.

image

SIGMA's take on an entirely new system camera.

The world's smallest and lightest “pocketable full-frame” camera is here.

The environment that surrounds shooting and art creation is undergoing radical changes. In this day and age when one user may have both a high-performance interchangeable lens camera and a smartphone camera, using them flexibly according to specific purposes and settings, SIGMA stopped and questioned the inherent value of a digital camera.

As a result, SIGMA set itself to develop a user-oriented digital camera that reflected the idea of “how a camera can be” in a more flexible and true-to-life manner, without conforming to manufacturers' ideas of camera-centric categories and hierarchy.

image

Pocketable full-frame│Impressive portability and power

The “smallest and lightest body possible” with which one can express their creative ideas whenever they want, combined with a “full-frame sensor” that is suitable for serious occasions without compromising on image quality, and “superb build quality” that makes the camera the perfect linchpin of a high-performance lens system.

Scalable│Versatile scalability

An “open and liberal system” that allows one to pair the camera with lenses and accessories, whether from SIGMA or other brands, using a variety of attachments, complete with “versatile scalability” that makes the camera adaptable to any scenes.

image

Seamless│Full-fledged, liberating shooting functions

A “highly intuitive UI” that allows one to move between full-fledged still and cine shooting modes with just one finger, making for a “seamless and truly creative tool” that goes beyond style and genre differences.

Making it a top priority to realize these three concepts all at once and without requiring any trade-offs, SIGMA selected only the elements and mechanisms that were truly needed with no compromise to create the SIGMA fp as the embodiment of an “entirely new digital camera that SIGMA can offer to the world right now.”

  • It's a camera body that changes its configuration with great flexibility centered around the user.
  • It's a tool that gives the user the joy of a new camera life that they themselves are yet to discover.
  • It's a new system camera that will overturn the paradigm of “digital cameras.”

Key features

World's smallest and lightest full-frame camera

With overall dimensions of 112.6×69.9×45.3mm and body weight of 370g, without battery and card, the SIGMA fp is the world's smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera*. It employs a back-illuminated 35mm full-frame Bayer sensor with 24.6 effective megapixels for high-quality images. Covered on the front and back sides with die-cast aluminum alloy for its superior robustness and thermal conductivity, the compact body of the SIGMA fp is built with a signature heat sink structure and sealing on 42 points for a dust- and splash-proof structure, making it a perfect camera to use for long hours under all types of environments. With its small body and great adaptability, the SIGMA fp enhances the joy of full-frame image quality, no matter what one's shooting settings may be.

Electronic shutter for a variety of settings

“Able to shoot whenever you want, wherever you want”―to realize this concept, the SIGMA fp incorporates a construction without a mechanical shutter for quiet shooting. This allows shooting without worrying about noise in a situation where one would have hesitated with a conventional camera because of its shutter sound. It gives no shutter shock even when shooting in quick succession at a frame rate of 18 frames/sec. eliminating even the tiniest shakes.

In addition, the absence of a mechanical shutter, whose performance level can change through continuous operation, means that the SIGMA fp is a camera with improved reliability.

Superior options in artistic picture & video creations

The SIGMA fp is a frontrunner in incorporating functions that help exploring the photographic and cinematic creations.

For instance, in addition to a number of different color modes, the SIGMA fp has newly introduced the “Teal and Orange” mode, inspired by the color grading technique commonly used in Hollywood films. Each mode has a slider that enables adjustment of the strength of the effects to apply, providing even greater control in one's creations.

The SIGMA fp is the first SIGMA camera to employ a tone curve adjustment function in addition to "Fill Light", a special adjustment function of SIGMA Photo Pro, and they are both available in-camera. It has also newly introduced "TONE" and "COLOR" buttons for a quick access to each of the tone control and color mode menus. With these enhanced functions and a variety of operation elements, the SIGMA fp makes it simple and easy to create an image, in-camera with great details, be it still or video.

Advanced picture & video generating functions

The SIGMA fp employs a number of advanced technologies for image and video generation.

The Auto HDR function takes advantage of an electronic shutter to take multiple pictures of different exposures (3 frames for still photography and 2 frames for video) at once, which can then be merged into a single picture or video with a great dynamic range that could not have been achieved in normal shooting.

The Cinemagraph function, meanwhile, achieves a hybrid between still photography and video in the form of animated GIFs in which parts of a still image keep moving. With this function, the SIGMA fp is capable of creating Cinemagraphs in-camera.

Note: The Auto HDR function in the Cine mode and the Cinemagraph function are to become available via firmware update scheduled at a later date.

L-Mount

The SIGMA fp uses the L-Mount*, characterized by a short flange focal length, large diameter, and superior durability. For interchangeable lenses, in addition to the wide-ranging choices of SIGMA lenses, other manufacturers' lenses can also be an option through the L-Mount Alliance with Leica Camera AG and Panasonic Corporation. With the SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-21, SIGMA SA mount and SIGMA's CANON EF mount lenses can be used, making the best out of one's lens investment.

Supports full-fledged video production

For raw video data, the SIGMA fp supports 12-bit CinemaDNG external recording. With 4K UHD/24fps recording, it produces video data that can be used even in filmmaking. It also supports ALL-I recording which is optimal for editing H.264 compressed videos.

For video output, it uses USB3.1(GEN1), which allows a smooth data transmission to an external recording unit. As it also supports cinema camera-like user interfaces, the SIGMA fp is a camera that can be taken straight to video production settings.

Note: The feature of playing CinemaDNG footages in-camera is to become available via firmware update scheduled at a later date.

Seamless transition between Still and Cine modes

Going from the Still mode to the Cine mode at the flip of a switch. Each mode comes with a specially designed operation system and displays, making it possible to concentrate on shooting in each mode, stress-free.

GH1 vs GH2 vs GH3 vs GH4. Better looking sensor. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5796/-gh1-vs-gh2-vs-gh3-vs-gh4.-better-looking-sensor. Wed, 16 Jan 2013 10:00:09 +0000 endotoxic 5796@/talks/discussions We have been discusing features, specs, footage and all that stuff since GH1 when out on 2009 on DVXuser forum. Time has passed really fast, and here we are with 3 cameras from the same lineup allready. Panasonic has made some grate inovation and pushed the frontier more than their competition on very much all the aspects of its camera.

Now that almost 4 years has pased, and we can happily review all GH series camera and drive some conclusion about their appeal.

*GH1 sensor has the best cinematic image from the 3 models. dynamic range, better color no stange color cast.

*GH2 sensor has the better resolution, and more detail, less dynamic range and green cast on footage.

*GH3 has even better resolution even more detail more dynamic range and a magenta cast.

For all of you forum GH partners, which is the best sensor from the 3 when talking about CINEMATIC image.

Remeber cinematic is almost WHAT YOU SHOW AND WAHT YOU DONT. If not take a look at hobbit mess at HFR 4k. So more detail and image quality is not always better.

THe best GH1 footage ive ever seen Grate DOF control and amazing cinematography (thank you @arnarfjodur )

One of the best GH2 result out there. Tipical Low Dynamic range, high contrast on flat image. Grate final picture (thank you @cekrem )

If you have grate footage from GH2 and GH3 please feel free to share for better comparison.

Long live GH series, and VK for hacking them.

My lordy lord. Best compact for m43 user ever made? Seems like it. There's no audio jack but who actually cares about that on a camera of this size for its intents and purposes.

AVCHD gone ? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/23878/avchd-gone- Mon, 18 May 2020 07:35:53 +0000 ludo0565 23878@/talks/discussions Hello everyone,

I am new in this forum, so first things first: let me say "hi" to this very large family of modern camera users, hoping to spend time learning as much as possible with each and everyone of you!...

I am a very happy user of a Panasonic Lumix GH1.

Unfortunately with my GH1 I found a while ago that I couldn't shoot a single AVCHD video anymore; the remaining times to be filmed in the 4 AVCHD formats no longer appeared at all on the camera display; MJPEG still worked, and remaining times to be filmed did appear; none of the video movies I shot in AVCHD mode appeared in the browser (display) of the camera; on a computer, I was still able to access AVCHD video sequences...

When I used another SD memory card to make an identical copy of the contents of the original SDHC memory card, the new memory card had the same problem; when I reformatted the other SD card anew, everything was suddenly fine and I could again shoot AVCHD films.

All this leads me to believe that there was an exceptional circumstance that caused the camera not to record a certain data (just a byte?), in a certain "surrounding" file (metadata?) (it was quite cold on the day I shot that one AVCHD film which never got recorded). So the content of the card seems, for the camera, partially corrupted; and this error only affects AVCHD video sequences.

Does this problem belong to the kind of things some of you could help solve? I am very much ready to answer your quesiotn if you need information...

Thanks a lot in advance.

Problems with playback on my computer from a GH5S http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/19651/problems-with-playback-on-my-computer-from-a-gh5s Sun, 06 May 2018 07:20:12 +0000 T2iRebelvsGH2LOUIS 19651@/talks/discussions I have just purchased a GH5s and am having problems with video playback on my computer. With my camera set to

FORMAT: AVCHD Progressive REC QUALITY FHD 28M 50p

I have no problems with playback but can't find a setting that plays above the FHD 28M 50p in AVCHD recording format.

with the system system frequency set to 50Hz PAL

IF I RECORD WITH THE CAMERA SET TO FHD ALL-intra 200M 50P

AND REC FORMAT SET TO MP4 (LPCM)

(Memory card used: SanDisk Extreme Pro 5MB/s U 3 Class 10 64GB)

The file will not playback on my computer. Why is this? My computer is ASUS ROG G752 64GB RAM, i7Core 3.5GHz, 8GB GRAPHICS CARD, 512 SSD DRIVE AND 1TB HDD DRIVE.

GH3 & HDMI stream : continuous signal after 5 minutes http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6089/gh3-hdmi-stream-continuous-signal-after-5-minutes Mon, 11 Feb 2013 13:43:29 +0000 xniala 6089@/talks/discussions Hello, I'm setting up a particular workflow for recording an audio-video HD stream via HDMI on a computer via a capture card. I'm planning to buy a GH3, But someone on a french website warned me that when the LCD or the EVF shuts down, the stream stops. The only setting appears to be the LCD/EVF "wake" time : max 5 minutes. So after 5 minutes no more HDMI stream !

I need the camera to be on 6 or 7 hours per day, sending HDMI stream continuously (GH3 not recording : in pause mode). Someone could confirm the 5 min issue ? If it's true, could it be fixed via hack or something ?

PS, Vitaliy answered me earlier in this thread : http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5810/studio-setup-with-atem-television-studio-switcher-and-ghx/p1

but I'm wondering if someone with a GH3 could check this 5 minutes issue.

Thanks Al

GH2 in 24p: noticeable "strobe effect" with any motion in frame? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2848/gh2-in-24p-noticeable-strobe-effect-with-any-motion-in-frame Thu, 12 Apr 2012 19:19:26 +0000 mo7ies 2848@/talks/discussions Clearly, ANY camera that only samples time at 24fps will have visible motion artifacts.

However, I find these to be more pronounced on the hacked GH2 than on any other 24p cam I used. Am I seeing things, or is it a reality?

Not only in my own video tests, but also when I watch other folks' videos, everything looks Saving Private Ryan / Battle Royale to me.

As if shutter speed was super high. Except it actually wasn't set that way! In my tests, I keep 180 deg shutter (about) with 1/50 at 24p. So then, why do we get that strobing, high-shutter-speed-like look?
