Sony has some camcorders but at low level of 4k.

What would be needed to run such massive codecs that GH4k would deliver. I know 200mbps its not that much, but decoding that shit in low time on the timeline i think would be a problem.

Anyone with experience in 4k with some codec implementation that its not JVC or Mjpg from canon?

What specs to use in a machine that can handle this. Obviously the monitor must be 4k, but the computer, it is ready for it.

Lets read your opinions.

G6 or GX7 or...? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9511/g6-or-gx7-or... Fri, 31 Jan 2014 15:48:12 +0000 Manu4Vendetta 9511@/talks/discussions Im planning buy another camera to midyear . But with a budget limit of U$700, with the marketing war I'm not crazy bringing a lot of money for in less than a year and have obsolete equipment.

Currently I have the GH2 with Sanity and a NEX-5N which use 95% for photo still.

The GH2 has a great performance in video, but the latest Lumix issues have improved considerably as the High ISO, less noise. I also interested in 60fps for slow motion; in the GH2 only available in 720p, the NEX let record 60fps in 1080 but the video from Sony isnt as good as Panasonic.

My major candidates are the G6 is a kind of GH2 improved and the glorious focus peaking is a success whether in stills or video. The GX7 having even higher quality (in the level of GH3), I love the design, still photo quality in the level of OMD and NEX . I could not use a monitor for its HDMI output while recording with G6 and GX7, but can via WIFI. Can the GH3 price drops something from here to there, but after having a NEX consider any camera must have focus peaking mandatorily.

Which of them advised me that they see pros and cons in each, or better invest in some good optics for GH2 as 45mm f1.8 as the Zuiko 25mm f1.4 or PanaLeica?

Thanks!

Security attacks are unfortunately becoming a more regular occurrence. Recently, we identified a coordinated effort to gain unauthorized access to Yahoo Mail accounts. Upon discovery, we took immediate action to protect our users, prompting them to reset passwords on impacted accounts.

Based on our current findings, the list of usernames and passwords that were used to execute the attack was likely collected from a third-party database compromise.

May I ask question? Please...

What exactly is "third party database with all names and plain passwords stored"? You mean ones provided daily to your friends in NSA and FBI?

As I fail to think about any other reason providing all this information to third party.

Chandon Pictures follows the adventures of Tom Chandon and his struggling video production company.

Chandon Pictures is an awesome show that keeps you laughing from the first episode to the last. The Story is about Chandon, a struggling movie maker who is stuck at the small job of head documenter at Chandon Pictures. The show is hilarious as is the whole cast including Chandon Himself, Chandons Filmer and even to a lesser extent the manager of the place. (from IMDB)

Always a hoot amongst Australian film makers (but then, we do like to laugh at ourselves), the cringeworthy Tom Chandon considered each wedding video as his chance to break into Hollywood.

The solution from Sony is to cut $250 million out of its entertainment budget, while trimming down the number of releases from the typical 23 per year to a leaner 18. According to the LA Times, a further $100 million in cuts are expected to be identified by a consulting firm Sony has engaged to assess its studio operations.

GH2 + legacy lens in video mode - S35 crop factor? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9461/gh2-legacy-lens-in-video-mode-s35-crop-factor Sun, 26 Jan 2014 16:05:17 +0000 Riker 9461@/talks/discussions First and foremost I would like to apologize to everyone at Personal View for making a crop factor thread. But if I may pose this one stupid crop question, I promise you I will send you an Airbus full of happy and smiles, promise!

Question: I recently got my hands on few nice old lenses, Helios 50mm, Vivitar 28mm etc. and just out of geeky curiosity, when recording videos on GH2 with those lenses, what would be the equivalent FOV in Super 35 film terms?

Far as my research goes, the crop factor for GH2 compared to S35 is somewhere around 1.3 or 1.4 ...

But Vivitar 28 acts like 50 mm (35mm speaking) on GH2 so am I correct to say that when filming, Vivitar 28 on GH2 has the same FOV as 70mm on a S35 film camera?

Or to put it bluntly, someone fill in the blank - shooting video with Vivitar 28 mm on GH2 has the same FOV like _______ mm on S35 film camera.

It doesn't happen in Vimeo, so I presume this is not a Flash related issue?

Modern TVs shows 3 times sharper motion than computer monitors http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9436/modern-tvs-shows-3-times-sharper-motion-than-computer-monitors Fri, 24 Jan 2014 08:25:49 +0000 Vesku 9436@/talks/discussions I dont know if this is new information to anyone but it was to me. Accordind to TV reviews visible motion resolution drops from 1080 lines to 300 lines when not using motion enhancement features.

Thing is that a normal LCD monitor could not show sharp motion. This issue (blurred motion in computer LCD) is caused by eye/brain phenomenom called: "sample and hold display technology that causes retinal blurring"

Due to this one can not see all the benefits of 60P sharp motion with computer monitor. Even if response time would be 0ms the situation would be the same. Scanning or stobing backlight technique is the only way to fool eye/brain to see all the details in movement. I have a very good LCD (5ms response time) and a plasma TV hooked in the same computer. When watching with plasmatv 60P videos those are tack sharp all the time and details are visible in motion. When I watch same clips with my LCD details blurs during motion. LCD is almost unwatchable right after plasma. Due to 5ms response time individual frames are still sharp in LCD during video but the illusion of motion is blurred. This is obviously not a response time matter.

See explanation:

http://www.blurbusters.com/faq/oled-motion-blur/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_motion_blur

From that Wikipedia page:

"Motion blur has been a more severe problem for LCD displays, due to their sample-and-hold nature.[3] Even in situations when pixel response time is very short, motion blur remains a problem because their pixels remain lit, unlike CRT or PLASMA phosphors that merely flash briefly. Reducing the time an LCD pixel is lit, can be accomplished via turning off the backlight for part of a refresh.[4] This reduces motion blur due to eye tracking by decreasing the time the backlight is on. In addition, strobed backlights can also be combined together with motion interpolation to reduce eye-tracking based motion blur."

http://scien.stanford.edu/pages/labsite/2010/psych221/projects/2010/LievenVerslegers/LCD_Motion_Blur_Lieven_Verslegers.htm

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1433254/lcd-motion-blur-eye-tracking-now-dominant-cause-of-motion-blur-not-pixel-transition-gtg

http://www.testufo.com/#test=eyetracking&pattern=lines1

When watching ufo in the center, vertical lines are sharp. When following moving ufo same vertical sharp lines becomes soft due to eye/brain, not response time. Plasma screen has no this kind of softening because of image "strobing".

Vikipedia:

Different manufacturers use many names for their strobed backlight technologies for reducing motion blur on sample-and-hold LCD displays. Generic names include black frame insertion and scanning backlight.

Philips created Aptura, also known as ClearLCD, to strobe the backlight in order to reduce the sample time and thus the retinal blurring due to sample-and-hold.[7][8]

Samsung uses strobed backlighting as part of their "Clear Motion Rate" technology.[9] This was also called "LED Motion Plus" in some previous Samsung displays.[10]

BenQ developed SPD (Simulated Pulse Drive), also more commonly known as "black frame insertion", and claim that their images are as stable and clear as CRTs.[11][12] This is conceptually similar to a strobing backlight.

Sharp Corporation use a "scanning backlight"[13][14] which rapidly flashes the backlight in a sequence from the top to the bottom of the screen, during every frame.

nVidia has licensed a strobe backlight[15] technology called LightBoost to display manufacturers. This is normally used to reduce crosstalk during 3D Vision, which utilize shutter glasses, however, it also eliminates motion blur due to its ability to keep pixel transitions in the dark between LCD refreshes.[16]

Also, if you're in Arizona and want to attend, there's a coupon code that will get you in to the expo for free (instead of paying $35.) Woot! I don't know if it's public, so just PM me for the code.

Since Vitality make a thread about food costs in US. I thogut it would be interesting to make a new one about the importance of nutrition. Since we are in an age of chemicals, and junk food, its very important to maintain good nutrition to our brain. @subco mentioned something important in the us food cost thread. He invests in good food, and it should be a real requirement for moder society, since we are sorrounded by shity food, and getting every time more further from our real natural way of eating.

There are interesting articles about the "PALEOLITIC DIET" and how it was the one that last longer in our evolution, even more than the agricultion era. In paleolitic times, there was no weat, soybean, and generall grains. Thats why there is so much people with celica desease (Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder triggered by eating gluten) and soy bean or even peanut!!

The food pyramid that we all learn is chool should be downsided, inverted, as the goverment keep us uninformed even doctors dont know about it. Please take a little of your time and invest in good knowlege, since you eat every day.

Please feal free to post important data for better nutrition and brain performance.

Paleolithic diet.

http://www.aces.edu/dept/extcomm/newspaper/june1a01.html

"Today, humanity depends on only about 100 crops for 90 percent of the food supply. Our paleolithic ancestors, by contrast, consumed a much wider variety of plant micronutrients derived from a plant supply that was equally as diverse."

"The absence of antibiotics, coupled with the accident-prone nature of the hunter-gathering lifestyle, meant very few paleolithic humans lived to age 60 only about 9 in 100, by some estimates. Nevertheless, those who survived likely were impressive physical specimens, free of heart disease, hypertension and diabetes that plague so many moderns in old age"

Here is a VERY important video.

The official 2014 New Years Resolution Thread! http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9202/the-official-2014-new-years-resolution-thread Thu, 26 Dec 2013 16:18:53 +0000 last_SHIFT 9202@/talks/discussions First of all an early Happy New Year! OK, thought I would start a New Years Resolution thread. Just to keep this under control, how about list ONE resolution, WHY you're doing it and HOW. You can also comment on others' resolutions and ask/offer advice on how to keep them - but only if you have listed your own first.

Resolution: Cut down on alcohol consumption.

Why: I'm 43 years old, I have slowed down the drinking in the last few years - I don't have it in me to party like it's 1999 anymore. A few weeks ago a buddy of mine was in town and we went on a gin & tonic rampage. I woke up the next day with a huge gash on my arm and empty beer cans and Mcdonalds wrappers everywhere and no recollection of the previous night. I guess that's better than waking up next to a dead body or a 60 year old hooker but still.

How: I'd be kidding myself to think I could go cold turkey, as that always ends up in a binge. I want to limit my intake to 1-2 glasses of wine or beer a week, and no hard liquor.

I'd like to download some video and graphic materials I actually need, but seems too easy I can get them for free... Some people say they were billed before the period expired, just because they downloaded something, other say they couldn't find the link to unsubscribe. So... I'll brake the ice with one poem I just wrote • gashô

The little mirror outside the hall
between the bouncing rays of light
left by a hurry someone told
lubricated and snorting constantly
consonants made of pure truth
ja ja já

“Kiss me
my arm”

impussyble!

Then you came, you;
unexpected crawling from within
the hall itself bended
and extended my arm too much
too much too much too much
too much too

“Cut
               my throat”

That was not
what I was
anywhere lost anyway child.
Now the thought of the memory
blinking inside a jar
beside the semi-darken hallway
makes me want
not to go back

“Gain butt harder!”

My mouse is feeling sad
my house is made of sand
my nose is full of crap
my words not mine

Mind exploding blooded confetti
orgasm coperativism quarter inch
whole flavoured death wishes
refucking inside a moth's brain

“That’s how you feel?”

Cool,
what an awesome weep cream
passage to hell you’re delivering man!!!
I could use your skin to wrap me up at night
then for sure, no doubt,
I'd dream about all these worlds
making sense pass the hall
to the right, skip the shards
drink the light, then straight
reaaaallly straight forward
till-water-reach-your-knees
then free, then die
the come back
the die
then free
the coma back
then you kiss me
the kiss you
then we die
then we’re free
to come back
and start
everything again
without knowing each other

Ambarella Based DashCams http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9062/ambarella-based-dashcams- Wed, 11 Dec 2013 21:54:09 +0000 bannedindv 9062@/talks/discussions I've heard rumors of people modifying bitrate and other encoder parameters in some of the Ambarella based Dashcams. For those who don't know - Ambarella SOCs are primarily used in small HD cameras like the Go Pro Hero 3 and Hero 3+ cams...

Seems like you can get quite a lot for quite a little with these cams, and they are running embedded linux. I think there is a wide open space here for a Ptool like setup tool to be developed, and for people to experiment with these - doing things like adding interchangeable lenses, and modifying to put multiple cameras on small Quad and Hexacopters for instance.

Some of them even seem to have GPS and other data logging.

Curious which one is the TOP camera in terms of best chipset used, best sensor, and highest achievable recording bit rate with modification.

Here is one example - but there seem to be a million out there:
