Will be shooting on the flattest setting i can get at 24pfs, 4k. I have a budget of 400$ max and would like to go for the most advised monitor for the GH4. I only wish to have a accurate color, best resolution and good overall build quality monitor. I dont want any of the waveforms and other features on it. Eyecup for EVF. $5.40 only. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/194/eyecup-for-evf.-5.40-only. Wed, 08 Jun 2011 00:59:12 +0000 stoney 194@/talks/discussions eyecup. This looked... ghetto. Occasionally it pops up a bit on top as u can see on the 3rd picture. One finger to push it back. $5.40... what do u expect? I can see everything. No light leaking. LCD flips back and forth easily. No more nose grease all over on the back of LCD screen. It doesn't invalidate warranty. Hot shoe intact. But what if it breaks? Always have extra rubbers. What if there's no rubber? No worry. Back to EVF rabbit hole. That's all. Large eyecup is quite annoying for photography, but it's so nice for videography.

I need to find a solution where the GH4 picture is transferred to any HDMI device such as a Aputure vs-2 or desktop monitor. DJI itself seems to have some general solution which I have not yet testet. Any user experience?

Are there any other wireless system solutions?

EVF for small shoulder-rig http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12209/evf-for-small-shoulder-rig Mon, 19 Jan 2015 12:42:16 +0000 Gamer_s 12209@/talks/discussions I'm building a small shoulder-rig for my GH4. As I want to have most of the weight on the shoulder, the built in LCD and EVF end up too far back to be used, so I need an EVF. Any input on what to look for and what to watch out for? The upcoming Zacuto OLED viewfinder looks nice, but makes little sense buying a viewfinder more expensive than the whole rest of the rig... So what other alternatives are there on the market and how do they compare?

thanks, Simon

I know they have a 5 inch version that made the rounds awhile back. The monitor is a cheap knock off of Sony's 5 inch monitor. This 7 inch version has a higher resolution and way more features than the 5 inch version or the original Sony. Although some of these features read like nonsense.

I'm curious if anyone has tried this. I've sent an email to the manufacturer to see if they can confirm compatibility with the BMPCC.

I've seen vids about these for a few months now, but links just showed up on Amazon for sale. $161 for a 15.5 inch, usb powered monitor. Most other monitors like this are also usb video input, so to have a HDMI input at this price range is huge.

It doesn't have a battery or speakers and because of that, they say it weighs less than 2 pounds. It only outputs 720p max rez, but it can accept a 1080p signal, and a 60fps signal. Not sure about 60i or 24p or PAL, but since it's for gaming, it should be relatively lag free. I'm so tempted to buy one and if it doesn't work out, Amazon's return policy is good.

Cheaper alternative to SmallHD DP4-EVF? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11470/cheaper-alternative-to-smallhd-dp4-evf Thu, 02 Oct 2014 11:02:58 +0000 Sangye 11470@/talks/discussions I'm looking for a moderately sized HDMI monitor, that doubles as an EVF -- like the SmallHD DP4-EVF, but I don't want to spend that much. There seem to be a lot of great affordable monitors coming from manufacturers in Asia, as seen in the deals here, but I haven't come across one with the EVF loupe attachment, yet.

The other important parameter for me is that it doesn't chew through batteries, like so many monitors oddly do.

Computer display as HDMI monitor: SCALER OPTIONS? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11178/computer-display-as-hdmi-monitor-scaler-options Tue, 02 Sep 2014 22:10:22 +0000 mo7ies 11178@/talks/discussions OK, so computer displays, even with DVI/HDMI inputs, are mostly designed/limited only to computer resolutions and refresh (scan) rates.

Those mostly do NOT match standard HD video specs, so if you try feeding HDMI output of your camera to a computer display, you'll get "out of range" message on the display.

So then, instead of direct connection, you feed it via some mobile scaler device, that adapts your video HDMI to computer display HDMI. (I'm obviously discounting using an actual computer and video capture card for this purpose... just talking about some small scaler box here.)

Very good. Except so far, based on user feedback, I only found one single scaler that seems to work reliably - Atlona AT-HD550/560.

What other alternatives are there? MUST be some cheap Chinese knock-offs on eBay or somesuch, just like with everything else... but I can't find them. What do you use as a scaler?

GH3 LCD viewfinder options http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5960/gh3-lcd-viewfinder-options Wed, 30 Jan 2013 13:39:29 +0000 RatLabProductions 5960@/talks/discussions I have been on the lookout for LCD Loupe options for the GH3 and since its new there are slim pickings. Since I didn't want to foul up the Varavon loupe threads I thought I'd start this thread for Loupe suggestions for the GH3.

Carryspeed is working on a new version of their VF-3 to work with the GH3. No idea of delivery but expecting months off. Right now it looks like their current one could work with a QR between loupe and camera base to raise it up

Varavon is also rumoured to be coming out with a GH3 solution but I have no information on it if anyone has anything to add here that would be helpful.
