I'm saving up for a G85, and with that I'm looking for a new 4k screen.

The screen is going to be used as a monitor for my pc. I like to have 40" +.

My priorities are:

  1. viewing angle
  2. colour accuracy
  3. NON flickering when set to low brightness
  4. latency
  5. HDR ready

My budget hovers about € 700.

Any recommendations?

I have this monitor but seems is jam in a infinite loop when I turn it on. This si what is happening: 1- turn on 2- from black screen to blue 3- keeps blue for 3 seconds then goes to black again 4- keeps black for 3 seconds and goes to blue again and so on...

I send an email to Lilliput support also with a video showing what is happening and their response was: "Reset the unit from Settings" whaaat!!?? obviously they don´t read or watched the video I uploaded. After this I tried to cantact them again but they never answer any other email or from contact form I send them. Lame support...

Anyway if someone can help will really appreciate.

"People mistakenly call it a color space," Griffis said. "It's actually a two-dimensional plane and what you really need to know if you're a creative is this is your palette of colors but what the horseshoe chart doesn't tell you is how bright each color can get. White will always be the brightest because it's the sum of all three primary colors."

"So we've got this interesting problem that we've lived with for the better part of 60 years where the colors in film go out farther but you can't get as bright and in television there are less colors but you can get brighter," Griffis told Gizmodo. "And the practical consequence of that for the content creator is that the Red Bus of London that looked so great in the movie looks like Campbell's Tomato Soup on the Blu-ray unless someone does something."

http://gizmodo.com/how-dolby-vision-works-and-how-it-could-revolutionize-1594894563

So Dolby (who makes the most amazing video monitors) finally did something. And When it hits TVs and Computer monitors... all this REC 709 bullshit can finally fuck off.

I am so damn happy... you don't even know.

I have been looking for an combo EVF/monitor. The SmallHD 502 and Sidefinder was the functionality I was hoping for, but the price had put me off. Then I stumbled upon the SpectraHD 4 which seems like a potential alternative. The current price is $717.69 (it was $706.29) new on ebay (or $749 from F&V/Adorama/Amazon) with the loupe - http://www.ebay.com/itm/371278169162?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Specifications:

4.3" LCD Display with 1280x720px Resolution with 170-degree Viewing Angle. HDMI to SDI Conversion. Waveform, Histogram, Vectorscope, False Color, Zebra Overlays, Pixel to Pixel, Focus Peaking, Frame Guides, Audio Meters, Timecode and DSLR Scale. 1/4"-20 and Arri Rosette Mounting Options. Multiple Power Options: Sony NP-F, DC2.5mm, Mini-XLR. Only thing that seems to be missing is a LUT.

Review:

This was $1299 announced at NAB 2014, so it seems like a great value at $749 or less...

Anyone using one of the these?

Thanks!

Is a new product (has only been listed since May 31st, & was announced on Twitter by Feelworld a bit earlier in the year) that looks exciting! Like a SmallHD 502 (US$1.2K) but at half the cost (US$650). Though yes, it misses a few important features the SmallHD 502 has, such as 3D LUT support.

But the Feelworld G55 still is a feature packed display:

  1. 1920×1080, 1000:1 contrast, IPS wide view angle H/V 160°
  2. 3G/HD/SD-SDI, HDMI input and loop-through output
  3. Monitoring via 3.5mm stereo headphone jacks
  4. Built-in LED tally indicators (Red, Green, Yellow)
  5. Special Features:
    • Waveform (RGB, YUV, Y (Luminance)
    • Vector Scope
    • Color Histogram
    • Histogram
    • Focus Assist (Red, Green, Blue, White four color optional highlight over parts of the image in focus)

Building a high-DPI EVF with 4-5" screen http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12894/building-a-high-dpi-evf-with-4-5-screen Wed, 29 Apr 2015 22:16:39 +0000 Sangye 12894@/talks/discussions I'm continually surprised by the fact that there is no cheaper / better alternative to the Zacuto, SmallHD, and Cineroid EVFs. High-DPI screens are being mass-produced for incredibly cheap in Asia, mostly for use in mobile devices. How difficult would it be to build an HDMI monitor in the 4" to 5" range, and a loupe with a diopter that fits to the frame? Seems like this should be doable with a basic knowledge of electronics, and perhaps Arduino or Raspberry Pi.

I'm seriously tempted to talk with some people who know more about this than I do, and think about crowdfunding such a project. Given the simple components, it should be possible to build a retina EVF and sell it for under $400!

edit -- specifically, I'm thinking of the 1080p displays used in phones like the HTC One (4.7") or the Samsung S4 (5"). This would give 1-to-1 pixel mapping for 1080p cameras, and 4-to-1 pixel mapping with integer scaling for UHD cameras, as well as the capability of a 2x 1-to-1 pixel map read-out. On these phones, such high PPIs are almost silly. However with a magnifying loupe, these high PPIs are suddenly being put to good use.

This one is cheap and has similar features, but not sure about quality. I really like the idea for the controller on the musthd - zooming without touching monitor sounds really helpful. Only really using it for framing and focus, single operator. The oversharp mode on the H056 looked very useful. Most peaking features seem to be useless.

Anyone have any real world feedback? (Also can't seem to find controller/remote for this

Gh2 with Waveshare 7 inch hdmi screen as monitor http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15230/gh2-with-waveshare-7-inch-hdmi-screen-as-monitor Fri, 17 Jun 2016 00:31:16 +0000 johnnie_john 15230@/talks/discussions Hello to everybody. I bought a dirt cheap Waveshare 7 inch lcd (c) screen with hdmi (screen solution for raspberry pi computers), as i ve seen it advertised as a "general hdmi" product.

I assumed it will get along well with my gh2, used as a field monitor, but whatever i do, nothing seems to work. I ve tried it all (pal/ntsc, viera link off, extele off, etc) with no luck, screen isn t showing anything. However, i do get some sort of signal (white bars and fragments) when i put the camera in playback mode, so i think it could be done somehow.

So i just wanted to ask - does anyone know how to set up things with this kind of screen? I ve emailed waveshare, but everybody says their customer service is rubbish, so i won t expect a reply (if any...) soon.

Probably it s a waste of time, but i d like to know at least where is the problem. Thank you in advance.

5.6" 1280x800 on camera monitor with peaking, aka H056 http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2823/5.6-1280x800-on-camera-monitor-with-peaking-aka-h056 Tue, 10 Apr 2012 03:02:49 +0000 SightfulProd 2823@/talks/discussions I bought this monitor because it has 1280x800 resolution which is rare to see at a low price point (got it for $220 USD). The other monitor I was considering was the Liliput 7" but figured the smaller size of 5.6" would be more manageable, not to mention monitor peepers on set! For the canon range, I've used it with 5D, 7D, 60D and 600D. All of them give basic monitoring @ 1080i (with pillar boxes) but drops to 480p mush during recording except for the 7D. This is annoying as the monitor cannot reproduce the real sharpness of the actual video.

The colours aren't as accurate as cameras built-in LCD's (anyone have a monitor calibration method, pls?) Next, I paired the monitor with the Panasonic AF-100 on a studio shoot. The piece was lit high contrast with many, many shadows shot @ 400 ISO. The monitor showed pixelated 'noise' in the image but when I looked at the studio monitor it was clean, clean. So the monitor has trouble reproducing blacks.

Really I would only recommend this monitor for framing and focus. Of course pair this with the Panasonic cameras as they put out 1080i during recording which is crucial for focus pulling. Or.. wait till Canon gets their act together. The monitor came with a case with divided foam, sunhood, HDMI-HDMI mini cable, Sony battery plate (you'll have to buy a battery, d/w they are cheap). For the cheap price it's a good start :)
