I'm buying the Tokina 11mm - 16mm f/2.8 with the Nikon mount to use it with the GH2 and after July with the BMC for the GH2.

Would it be any pros and cons buying the Canon mount EF instead, which will be mount native for the BMC?

Thanks in advance.

High-performance standard zoom lens

Effective placement of special lenses in the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm F4.0 PRO lens allow for the world’s most compact, lightweight design covering a focal length from wide angle 24mm to telephoto 90mm (35mm equivalent). A small and lightweight focusing lens enables high-speed, precise AF for any subject. The lens features a dust-, splash- and freezeproof construction with sealing in 9 places to keep out dust and rain, providing peace of mind when shooting on the go.

Superb macro capabilities

Enjoy intense macro shooting with a maximum magnification of 0.25x (0.5x 35mm equivalent) across the entire zoom range. The closest focusing distance is 12 cm at the wide-angle end, and 23 cm at the telephoto end, delivering a wide range of macro shooting effects such as wide-angle macro shots that emphasize a sense of perspective by capturing vast backgrounds, and telephoto macro shots for more significant background defocusing effects. Diverse macro effects are possible, such as Focus Stacking , which generates a single image on the camera with a large depths of field in focus from the foreground to the background.

Fixed aperture value across the entire zoom range

Effective placement of aspherical lenses and ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating – which provides clear depictive performance – drastically reduces aberrations, ghosts, and flares for sharp, high-definition image quality. Suppressing loss of light at the edges of images makes it possible to obtain bright, clear depictive performance up to the very edges. Because the aperture value is fixed across the entire focal length, it is easy to control the exposure when zooming and recording video.

Canon CJ20ex5B 4K UHD Portable Zoom Lens http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/24498/canon-cj20ex5b-4k-uhd-portable-zoom-lens Fri, 25 Sep 2020 21:32:05 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 24498@/talks/discussions

Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the launch of a remarkable new addition to its UHDxs series of 4K UHD broadcast portable zoom lenses: the CJ20ex5B. Within this category of portable zoom lenses, Canon presently has two models that are very wide-angle (4.3mm at their wide end) and four models that are telephoto (and consequently constrained in their wide-angle settings). Between these two groupings, Canon applied the latest in contemporary optical design technologies to empower the creation of a dynamic and versatile new lens that would simultaneously extend both extremes of the focal range – a wide 5mm and a telephoto 100mm – a game-changing focal range that is tailor-made for coverage of modest-sized sports venues such as basketball, boxing and more. Documentary capture and newsgathering will also be further empowered.

“As the demand for high-quality 4K UHD lenses for sports and newsgathering continues to grow, Canon strives to develop and implement the best possible optical design technologies to meet the needs of end-users,” said Tatsuro “Tony” Kano, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Canon U.S.A.’s Imaging Technologies & Communications Group. “The new CJ20ex5B lens provides the optical excellence that makes Canon a leader in broadcast lenses, and helps to round out a seamless lineup of 4K UHD portable broadcast lenses. We look forward to seeing the multitude of ways professionals will use this versatile lens.”

The new lens, which is designed to be used with broadcast cameras that have 2/3-inch sensors, delivers outstanding 4K UHD image quality in a lightweight (4.76 lbs.) and compact form factor (9.9 inches long) that empowers agility in shooting. The lens also features a built-in 2x extender that can expand the zoom range up to 200mm. The ergonomics and digital servo operational controls of the lens are similar to Canon’s current lineup of portable zoom lenses, providing users with maximum mobility in a variety of shooting situations.

The CJ20ex5B lens achieves a high-level 4K UHD performance across the entire zoom range thanks to Canon’s proprietary optical design technology and coatings, which incorporate materials such as UD and Super-UD lens elements, and a fluorite coating, that help to reduce chromatic aberration and minimize ghosting and flaring. Focusing fluctuation has also been decreased due to an improved inner focusing system that improves resolution in the periphery areas of the screen. In addition, the lens supports the wide color gamut approved by the ITU-R BT.2020 UHD broadcasting standard – all features that are essential to HDR/WCG imaging.

The CJ20ex5B lens also boasts enhanced operational control over its previous models. The quick power-on button allows the value encoder to initialize at the same time the lens is turned on, enabling users to operate the lens more quickly. The lens also features an on-board display that provides users with the ability to access and adjust various settings rapidly. It is also compatible with Canon’s recently announced G-Series zoom and focus controllers, which deliver increased control of zoom and focus speeds and range.

Availability

The Canon CJ20ex5B 4K UHD Portable Zoom Lens is scheduled to be available early in 2021*. For more information about the CJ20ex5B, and Canon’s complete line of innovative broadcast lenses, please visit, usa.canon.com/broadcast.

The SIGMA CORPORATION is pleased to announce that it will enter into the cinema lens market with the release of its SIGMA CINE LENSES, designed specifically for cinematography. In the world of digital film production, there is an increasing demand for higher resolution, and SIGMA’s new lineup of high-performance lenses is compatible with the latest, high-resolution digital cinema cameras. SIGMA has developed its own production system by establishing the required technology for mass production of high-performance lenses for ultra-mega-pixel shooting. The company feels this valuable new lens line could create a fundamental change in digital film production, and provide a new solution for cinematographers.

  • Unbeatable value – the highest optical performance in its class and outstanding compact design
  • Wide range of lenses for professional use
  • Optimized for the latest digital moviemaking technology

For the first phase, SIGMA will release two zoom lenses in Japan and the USA for EF and E mount camera systems. Furthermore, another zoom lens and five prime lenses will be released to the market in sequence from 2017 onward. SIGMA plans to develop additional zoom and prime lenses as well as add support for PL mount camera systems. The latest release information will be sequentially updated on its official website.

High Speed Zoom Line

High Speed Zoom Line offers the constant aperture of T2 throughout the zoom range, and the optical performance is ready for high-resolution shooting such as 6K - 8K. Furthermore, while offering the highest image quality in its class, the High Speed Zoom Line has a compact construction and offers amazing value.

FF Zoom Line

FF Zoom Line is compatible with a full-frame image circle, and the optical performance is ready for high-resolution shooting such as 6K - 8K. It provides a rare option for cinematographers since very few lenses can cater to the requirements of the latest digital cinema cameras' image sensor, which is larger than Super 35, and expand the range of compatible cameras. This is the cinema zoom lens offering the highest image quality and compact design. This lens is not available in PL mount.

FF High Speed Prime Line

The lineup ranges from 20mm to 85mm, and all five lenses are T1.5. They are compatible with full-frame sensors and, while being more compact, can offer superior resolution than other high-end prime sets do. With the five prime lenses from FF High Speed Prime Line, there is no need to change the lighting to shoot a variety of cuts. These lenses bring a consistent level of light to the production and offer greater consistency with regards to the film’s look and color/contrast before it enters post-production.

Each CINE lens model is weatherproof and has luminous paint markings to aid in changing and operating the lens in the dark. It touts a long focus rotation of 180 degrees and is guided by cams for smooth operation and accuracy. The CINE lens design features standardized essentials such as an 82mm front for ND filters* and a 95mm front diameter for matte box use and standard gear positions for accessories like follow focus. They also include a manual linear iris control and electronic mounts that provide vital camera metadata. Each lens is manufactured and inspected in the Sigma factory located in Aizu, Japan.

25-100mm T2.9 Laowa OOOM Cine Lightweight Zoom http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/20481/25-100mm-t2.9-laowa-ooom-cine-lightweight-zoom Fri, 21 Sep 2018 10:55:41 +0000 fosterchen 20481@/talks/discussions image

Laowa OOOM Cine lightweight zoom is the first professional cinema style zoom lens offered by Venus Optics.
The lens features a wide 25-100mm zoom range, making it a one-size-fits-all lens for different types of productions.

Unlike some cine lens in the market which were re-engineered from a photo zoom lens, Laowa OOOM Cine series is designed for digital cinematography in the first place. It is truly parfocal, meaning the focus will never shift when you zoom in or zoom back out. It is designed to have nearly zero focus breathing throughout the whole zoom range. The aperture remains fixed at t/2.9 at all focal lengths.

It is built with the true cinema level mechanics. It comes with a stepless, t-stop independent aperture ring with an industry standard 0.8 mod /32 pitch gears.  The 270° rotation flow provides room or precise focus pulls and the iris is clickless, enabling smooth iris pulls. The lens weighs only 2.16 pounds, which is fairly light for a cinema zoom that holds focus and aperture throughout the focal length range.
