So the X-Trans sensor design has been very, very successful in terms of image quality. We get great sharpness and no artifacts or aliasing...

Fuji: Moiré.

DE: Moiré, yeah. But it also puts a lot of demands on processing, and our impression has been that the X-Trans works very well for still shots, but not so good for video. I'm assuming that's because there's so much processing to figure out the pixel pattern. Is that something that can improve as processors get faster? You know, if you have more processing power, is it then possible to get a better video image?

Fuji: In the future, our LSI will become faster and capable of more calculations, and maybe our movie image quality will also be able to improve. But it depends on not only this, but also on CMOS sensor reading speed.

SuperMHL is meant to primarily use USB C-type connectors.

Just like HDMI and DisplayPort, SuperMHL is not specified for transmitting full 4:4:4 color information at 8k resolution.

Some answers to our questions from Panasonic http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11798/some-answers-to-our-questions-from-panasonic Wed, 19 Nov 2014 04:32:02 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 11798@/talks/discussions

Q1. GH4 camera is large success among filmmakers. Yet it still does not have ProRes or RAW recording that everybody asks. Rumors constantly surface that we will see this implemented in new firmware. Can we hope?

A1
It is hard to add new recording formats by the firmware update.
There are two reasons why this cannot be done with GH4. The capability of GH4 codec engine does not guarantee the process of those recording formats. The other reason is that there is no SD card which can record huge data in raw compression with high bit rate.
However, we would like to study this request for a future model.

Q2. Many people who really like films made using GH4 just can’t allow this camera due to price of the body, especially outside US. Can we hope to see update to G6 camera with 4K and another updated features made for more mass market?

A2
Unfortunately, specifications of G6 does not allow to incorporate 4K and other related functions.
However, compact cameras such as FZ1000 and LX100 have 4K recording.

Q3. All cameras outside GH series have blocked HDMI output during recording. So people who want cheap second and third cameras frequently buy camera from another manufacturer. May be it is possible to change?

A3
We have received the same requests from the other markets and would like to study this function.

Q4. Very small GM1 camera was being prized by many users. Do you think that Panasonic can make even lighter and smaller camera? May be one without screen and flash ‐ oriented to be operated wirelessly and used on quadracopters?

A4
Thank you very much for your comments on a new product development.
We are continuously seeking new opportunities for market needs, considering size and weight of a camera.

Q5. Do you think that in next year or two it will be still possible to reduce model line even more and continue move to premium segment considering big economic troubles around the world?

A5
We will not focus on the premium segment only but will propose an optimum product line-up, considering the growth of a market and each segment, user preference, technology trend and other factors.

South Korea's tech giants Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. both saw their shares in the global flat TV market slide in the third quarter from three months earlier, dented by Chinese rivals' lower-price strategy, data showed Wednesday.

The share of market leader Samsung Electronics stood at 25.5 percent in the July-September period, down 6.3 percentage points from the previous quarter, according to the latest report by market tracker DisplaySearch.

The corresponding figure for LG Electronics, the world's No. 2, came in at 16.5 percent, down 2.0 percentage points over the cited period.

If you look carefully - thing seems pretty strange.

How 4K strange mode with 6144x2160 correlates with sensor resolution? May be each pixel actually consist from multiple ones?

Speed is too big for any consumer oriented sensor.

it is stacked sensor that has rectangular 9.78um x 4.89um pixels with global shutter.

Sony Corp aims to lift its movie entertainment revenues by more than a third in the next three years, its chief executive said on Tuesday as the loss-making consumer electronics firm tries to counter flagging smartphones sales.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/11/18/us-sony-outlook-idUSKCN0J203Y20141118

Unsolicited advice, already circulating among Sony watchers, ranges from shutting down the mobile division to dumping PlayStation before game consoles fall completely out of fashion.

Chopping off business units that aren't making money is a logical step. But this is precisely the sort of decisive action that big Japanese corporations -- which like being big -- hesitate to take. However, Sony is the rare Japanese company with a record of bold decisions. It got out of the PC business this year. It spun off its TV unit last summer. The popular sentiment among investors now is that Sony should do the same with its smartphone business.

Direct-type LED TVs featuring Flip Chip LED technology are becoming more prevalent in the market and many China- and Korea-based TV vendors are expected to start using the technology in units released in 2015 in order to reduce LED costs.

The sources added that currently 42-inch direct-type LED TVs used 24 LEDs, which could be reduced to 12-16 LEDs in 2015 by using the technology.

Yep, direct type TVs are now cheapest, and instead of using dense RGB backlight we are going opposite way.
