http://www.gudsen.com/moza-lite.html image

It weighs at only 2.2kg that lightweight enough for handheld operation, yet strong enough to carry any mirrorless cameras and common DSLRs as well as small cinema camera such as the Red Epic series with max payload of 11.0lbs. It takes powerful motors with digital positioning encoders on each axis to provide precision control and achieve smooth footage by using advanced algorithms. The operator can access to remote control of the camera and gimbal via the wireless thumb controller. It is powered by the intelligent battery with 2800mAh capacity and Tesla cells that can last up to 8 hours. image

Gudsen team just published the full tutorial video on Youtube for the MOZA Lite 2. It shows how to use the gimbal, including setup, balance, wireless thumb controller and MOZA Assistant operation.

Motorized timelapse options for varavon slider? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11105/motorized-timelapse-options-for-varavon-slider Sat, 23 Aug 2014 15:05:31 +0000 ICProductions 11105@/talks/discussions Hey PV! Are there any options/alternatives to the motoroid/timeroid for the varavon sliders (specifically v800)? Are there other brands/systems that work ?

I'm mainly wondering about the Konova Motorized Kit B that comes with the crank as well. It seems a better value and can be upgraded as I go.

I've also been entertaining DIY and have read numerous ideas, including this one - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=m5_ZQCQj7sg.

(He doesn't talk about how to attach it to the carriage at all, I'm thinking of buying the varavon weight pulley because it has a plate that fits)

Does anyone have examples of DIY for the varavon ?

Also - going the DIY route - is it a better design to have the have the motor on an end or with the carriage?

New design principles of 5-Axis spring arm http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15189/new-design-principles-of-5-axis-spring-arm Wed, 08 Jun 2016 01:53:32 +0000 Avril_Lovin 15189@/talks/discussions Although Steadicam has made great differences, there are many restrictions to the detriment of current photography needs. Such as Steadicam is too big to be used for narrow scene, and too heavy for long shot. And the fatal weakness is the difficulties for beginners to start in a short time trial, users must take a long time of training to familiar with Steadicam and use it well. With wrong posture, it is counter-productive to keep stable. Still, usually we need to spend a long time on Steadicam for adjustment and balancing.

image

Turned the standard notion of 50-year Steadicam’s structure, 5-axis spring arm is Nebula’s original design, inspired by the damping system of F1 racing cars.

image

The effect of double spring arm in contraposition is both rebound and absorbing. But the mass of stabilizer and camera appropriately maintains inertial. Except the intentional tremor, the two spring arms can absorb any vibrations and bounces under payload acting on the vertical axis. With this kind of buffer, reduces vibration, retards speed, makes shooting more smooth even facing hard bumps.

image

They are just like the vehicle suspension system, on the one hand isolates road noise, bumps, and vibrations, on the other hand provides enough sustenance for stabilizing car body while making a turn. Besides vertical axis, with different spring tension, the two spring arms are also able to filter part of the vibrations on horizontal axis.

image

image

Two dovetails are added on spring arm, to show the flexibility of combinations. The standard 1/4 screw hole also makes it easy to carry most of the photography accessories. Every detail we designed is for filmmakers in search of 2 “P”s: professional and possibilities. Double spring arm in contraposition turns the standard notion of spring arms in line, in order to spread bounces caused by photographers’ step while moving over two handles. Thus perfectly reduces the jitter and jerking and improves users’ manipulation of stabilizers.

In this thread I would like to know what is the best slider setup for small cameras.

Here's mine:

  • For wedding and run 'n gun work: Manfrotto 055XPRO4 + Konova k2 60cm + 701HDV head.
  • For studio work: two stands at the edges of an IGUS 100cm + 701HDV head.

The first one is very quick and smart but I have to try it with a leveling plate under the slider.

Post yours!

iFootage Wildcat clone compact stabilizer on eBay for $75 http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12613/ifootage-wildcat-clone-compact-stabilizer-on-ebay-for-75 Sun, 15 Mar 2015 22:25:13 +0000 Sangye 12613@/talks/discussions Found on eBay: "Professional Handheld Steady Stabilizer For Video Camcorder DSLR Camera Portable"

I just recently bought one of these, and wanted to share my thoughts. It’s a copy of the iFootage Wildcat, which costs 7x as much. The only difference I can see is that it uses an aluminum shaft instead of carbon. This is a non-issue, because every bit of weight below the handgrip helps with stabilization. It will work with cameras as heavy as a GH4 + Speedbooster + Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8, but that combo does sway a little bit (I personally don’t mind that, as it makes the footage look more floaty and organic). Any lighter setups work phenomenally well. It’s easy to balance (less than three minutes), and extremely compact. It obviously isn’t going to replace a gimbal, but if you want a good stabilizer for less than $100 than you can easily pack into any bag and never have to worry about batteries or weather-proofing, you should seriously consider this. And there are times when I would use this even if I owned a gimbal, as I personally really like the organic floatyness of a mechanical weight-driven stabilizer.

Here is a real quick test, with a GH4, BMCC Speedbooster, and Sigma 18-35 opened to 18mm (f/5.6 or so):

Dolly recommendations? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3257/dolly-recommendations Fri, 18 May 2012 12:05:33 +0000 sdbest 3257@/talks/discussions I'm in the market for a dolly system costing < $2,500 for a feature (see http://savingdinah.com). We're using a GH2 in a cage for most of the shots, but also a Sony EX1. There's a number of products available from Kessler Flex Track, Indie Dolly Systems, Merlin Video which fit the budget. A flex track system seems a good way to go.

So, looking for recommendations from folks who might have some experience with the products on the market.

Is it safe to say the older fly-cam/glide-cam type devices have proven inferior to 'active' 3 axis gimbals? In considering purchasing stabilisation for m43rds GH4, where Im shooting quite short takes around 8 seconds of pans and very short track and travels, have 3 axis gimbals made a Fait accompli of older designs?

    Available at:

    http://www.personal-view.com/deals/sliders/varavon-sliders#varavon-heavy-sliders-slidecam-s

The sliding seemed to be pretty smooth, though it will still take some practice on my part. The build quality is very good, and it's definitely nice to have a bag.

One small concern is that I wasn't able to securely tighten my 501 head to the slider. There was still side to side movement. This is likely related to the design of the bottom of the head, which is not smooth, but I wonder:

    A) If anyone has experienced the same thing and solved it with rubber, cork, or something else.

    B) If anyone would recommend a different head, more suitable for this slider and a GH2.

    Thanks for any input.
