US: Prepare for weak dollar and much more new tariffs
    • As your President, one would think that I would be thrilled with our very strong dollar. I am not! The Fed’s high interest rate level, in comparison to other countries, is keeping the dollar high, making it more difficult for our great manufacturers like Caterpillar, Boeing,.........John Deere, our car companies, & others, to compete on a level playing field. With substantial Fed Cuts (there is no inflation) and no quantitative tightening, the dollar will make it possible for our companies to win against any competition. We have the greatest companies.......in the world, there is nobody even close, but unfortunately the same cannot be said about our Federal Reserve. They have called it wrong at every step of the way, and we are still winning. Can you imagine what would happen if they actually called it right?

      Looks suspicious, very suspicious.

Inflation coming, guys, and China will be blamed for it.

Mass VR will be phasing out slowly
    • Samsung will no longer make any VR headsets for their phones and will stop making existing ones soon.

Other manufacturers will follow. Chinese cheap VR headsets products are constantly cutting production also.

Mass VR never really picked up, as around 80% of all VR headsets sold had been included for free with phones during deals.

Capitalism: Apple starts blocking all third party battery replacements
    • If you replace the battery in the newest iPhones, a message indicating you need to service your battery appears in Settings > Battery, next to Battery Health. The “Service” message is normally an indication that the battery is degraded and needs to be replaced. The message still shows up when you put in a brand new battery, however. Here’s the bigger problem: our lab tests confirmed that even when you swap in a genuine Apple battery, the phone will still display the “Service” message.

Thing that we see here is that battery is also small computer now and requires authentication.

And it is only first step, second will be full blockade of unauthorized battery replacement, watch the news for horror stories of exploding Chinese third party batteries, will be soon in all major channels.

All, 100%, new upcoming Apple notebooks will have same feature where each and ether component, even soldered BGA chips will require authentication and replacement only by authorized service. MY source confirmed that Apple intent to fully, 100% crack down on any third party service for new products, as well as later destroy Hackintosh (by going to proprietary LSI).

Idiots: Warranty labels on NVMe SSDs
    • image

same drive, but proper placement (really good is not have such at all)

      image

Placement on top makes such drive overheat in few seconds during writing even with heatsink on top (as label is really horrible for heat transfer.

Lot of other brands like to do similar things.

Note that Sony and Samsung have private cartel agreement and share some info and patents.

Part of this deal had been Samsung closure of their NX cameras lineup.

Industry rumors: US consumers will buy much fewer stuff soon
    • In cameras and electronic industries it is lot of talks going due to trade war.

Yet major conclusion is that number of devices going to US will start to drop sharp since Q4 of this year, and will reach up to 2 times drop in 2020 for certain electronic sectors.

US cameras shipments intended for Q4 sales can be as small as 70% (in units) compared to 2018 and drop further to 60% in Q1 2020.

US SSDs, CPUs and similar computer DIY parts are expected to drop 15-25% (again, in units) this year in Q4, YoY basis. This will further increase in 2020 with another tariffs hike and can reach 50% in many sectors towards the end of 2020.

Most firms are now working with another countries distributors to spread all this units over large areas, mostly in Asia.

Capitalism: Why Google are morons or little about recycled things
      • By 2020, 100 percent of all shipments going to or from customers will be carbon neutral
      • Starting in 2022, 100 percent of Made by Google products will include recycled materials with a drive to maximize recycled content wherever possible.

You do not fight lot of waste by "including some recycled materials" or even more dream like "carbon neural shipments".

You do so using proper products design with lot of modularity, providing schematics, making cheap parts for next 10 years and so on.

But capitalist corporation instead of this is writing and promising some stupid and moronic things.
